I was so excited for you guys to meet Stick. He's such an awesome character. I also agree with what Caleb said about Stick and the difference between actual abusive people. I've definitely had dealt with people like that. Though I have been fortunate enough to know a few people similar to Stick, who were tough but truly cared for others and weren't pretending to be someone else or trying to be manipulative. Learned a lot valuable life skills from them. It just sucks that people like that are really hard to find or some are just straight up abusive. This was one of my favorite episodes of season 1 and I can't wait for your reaction of the next episode. It's another amazing episode!
Stick gave up on training Matt as a kid because he didn't want Matt to have an emotional attachment to him. He said he was fighting a war. He needed a soldier, not a child. So he knew that there was no way to avoid that, so he left.
I do love stick as a character and him and Matt's relationship is super interesting but Stick 100% was an abusive parent figure to Matt. He literally tried to make him a child soldier.
I highly recommend reading practically all of Daredevils comics, Stan Lee’s daredevil is very different but it’s swashbuckling fun and along with Mark Waid’s run. Wait’s run is very similar to Lees in that it bring DD back to his adventurous swashbuckling routes but as character&story conscious effort to meld DDs two types of stories; the neo-noir ninja and the highflying swashbuckling hero. There’s the 80s classic legendary Frank Miller run of mainline DD which was the starting point of so much important fundamental DD characters, lores, stories, and art. There’s the classic Man Without Fear mini-series by Frank Miller, which is like an alternative version of Franks mainline DD run but without mainline constraints. The arc of Born Again is worth reading by itself, if you don’t want to dive into too much classic main line comics. The Run by Ann Nocenti kick started Matt as a more socially conscious hero, few weird choices in this run but twice as many absolute definitive daredevil moments. There’s the standalone graphic novel of Daredevil Yellow by Jeoph loeb, it’s a great emotional comic but the writer is horrible and made a lot of horrible decisions on the behind the scenes of TV daredevil as well, which is a shame. Saved the best for last, the currently on going Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky is an absolute masterclass, absolute banger, god tier run. The run by Chip Zdarsky feels like the culmination of everything that’s come before, both literally and metaphorically. It is the run that solidifies how amazing daredevil is, and it’s writing is so good that you don’t have to go through the daredevil backlog for it to be satisfying and entertaining, but if you do it’s even more enjoyable by some miracle. I’m sorry for the long comment and leaving out a few more DD runs, I just love the character and his area of the marvel world.
I haven't read all of the runs, but what I've noticed is that there are very few *bad* runs for Daredevil. Guardian Devil wasn't great but it WAS important. I haven't gotten to the Zdarsky stuff yet. Real life getting in the way, but I am aware of some of what has happened recently. I think Shadowland would make for a good Disney+ show arc as a way to reunite some characters and introduce others to each other and to the audience. The crossover list for Shadowland is pretty big.
What I love about this show is that after Stick loses our favour when trying to kill the Black Sky, they don’t try and force us to like him again by explaining why the black sky is so deadly… they wait till like s3 to actually show its importance. 👍🏽
This is probably my favorite episode of season one aside from episode two. Stick is such an interesting character and the casting of Scott Glenn for this role was pure genius. He totally embodies the Stick character from the comics and makes it his own. I always wait to see how reactors of this show respond to episode 7 and you guys did not disappoint. I always enjoy how you analyze and dissect each of the episodes you watch.
Definitely some lowkey Batman and Ra's Al Ghul vibes with Daredevil and Stick; the Mentor who needs his Apprentice to break his Code vs The Apprentice who refuses to take a life while being a watchful protector of his city. Love it! 🖤
There was actually gonna be an open world game that was suppose to come out in 03 but it was cancelled. “Daredevil: The Man Without Fear” was gonna be PS2/XBox Arkham-like game. Sadly internal conflict, too big ambitions, Sony & Marvel butting heads, & technical issues shot it down. There’s concept art, images of levels & other content they did complete
This might be late but I feel like you guys forgot Mutants exist in the Marvel universe. I wasn't surprised by the fact the weapon was a kid. I feel like Matty forgot that as well.

Stick is such a multifaceted character he’s so cool I’m glad you’re loving the show
Him and E (not gonna spoil anything) are complicated characters yet that’s what makes them so good to watch, so fucked up but like cool

100% agree. It's just that he's abusive on account of a goal/ideology. Not because he's a narcissist or anything like that.

I watched a little bit season 1 of Daredevil before, but never finished it. I thought the episodes I saw were good, great video guys. 👍
Correction: (little bit of season 1)
Charlie Cox looks REALLY fine with his slightly more noticeable scruff.
I love Stick
wait for mcu movies

You're gonna react to The Last of Us show right? Right?! 🥺
