- Our first time watching "Shadows in the Glass" from Season 1 of Daredevil!
Welcome to our MARVEL Reaction series! Meg has seen next to nothing of the Marvel movies and shows, and Caleb has seen a bit more, and read more of the comics! Most of this series will be first time reactions, but we will let you know at the beginning of each video specifically.

"That I'm NOT a MONSTER! ... Am I?"
and
"Get the saw."
These are two of the greatest lines in the modern Marvel era. Lost in the massive shadow of Wilson Fisk's story and Vincent D'Onofrio's acting are all the other brilliant characterizations and acting. It is a sublime episode
"I hope people don't watch this and be like, 'Oh, Meg's a Fisk sympathizer!'" No, I totally agree. This show did a great job of making The Kingpin into a 3-dimensional character with motivations.
A subtle detail I noticed is that when Wilson is picking out his own outfit in the beginning, its all black. Vanessa is almost always in white. At the end of the episode, he lets her pick his outfit, and its all in shades of grey.
“He looks like boss baby”😂
The Netflix Marvel shows at their best had a level of intelligent and mature story telling I wish Disney Marvel started integrating into their shows and films.
Its so strange that if marvel netflix made a moon knight show it would have been so cheaply made yet been written infinitely better.
Edit to elaborate shows like ironfist needed more than grounded writing it needed the budget and spectacle. Like they never gave us a dragon in that show. However when I see talking hippos and crocodile women in Moon Knight it's just done so stupidly. Like there's an in-between here that I don't understand why marvel swings so far in each direction. Either way too grounded like ironfist or absolute joke like moon knight. Agents of shield and daredevil are like the perfect middle ground in their respective tones.
@@TheTurbanator123 iron fist just had so much going against it
Terrible writing
Lead actor underwhelming
Piss poor choreography
Very low budget
And the two big ones?
-came out at a bad time (trump just won the election)
-the “white savior” trope
This show has some of the best written characters. It embraces the idea that nothing is truly black and white - real people live in the gray and even the ‘villain’ is a person too.
I love how much y’all analyze this show - it’s definitely one long character study and I absolutely adore that you both really empathize with and understand the characters. Thanks for making me feel warm :) love y’all!
True. I remember the time, where the heroes were shown to be humans cause we would see their social life. See them wake up, take a bath, eat and everything. As for the villains, they were all mental robots. Wearing the same clothes, having no other thought than their evil plans and stuff. This feels realistic and nature.
Keep kicking him.
Man, i love this character
Just wanted to clarify to all in the comment section both present & future. I know alot of you are excited meg is reacting to Daredevil. As many would agree it's arguably the best marvel show from the Netflix marvel shows.
However I would ask to be mindful when talking story bits unless it's from the episode we are reacting to.
As this is meg & Caleb's 1st watch through of the show. So we should try to not spoil anything if possible.
your analysis of comic shows is why I keep coming back
So well said Meg. Matt and Fisk are so similar and the show does an excellent job of showing how close they are to becoming each other. It's a theme that carries throughout the series. Just wait until the conversations between Matt and the first protagonist in season 2. The acting will floor you.
yes good points, this show humanized both the hero/villain complexities- season 2 and 3 continue to explore these issues
Stoked for you two to finish the season off, the Netflix Daredevil show has such a different vibe to the MCU it's just unreal. For sure season 2 is a must and then the Punisher 💀 always a pleasure seeing you breakdown the show after watching, much love ✌
Karen isn't Vanessa's opposite. That's Claire.
As you mentioned in an earlier episode, Matt rejected his partner but Wilson Fisk accepted and started his partnership.
I don’t think she trying to fix Fisk I think she just intrigued I think because she works in a art gallery and because she saw that he was sensitive with what he said in I think rabbit in a snow storm and all great artists were sensitive so I think she just want to see how he paints in case the city is the canvas
Exactly. That was the only part of this episode where I disagreed with their analyse.
From Vanessa's point of view, that's probably synonymous with fixing Fisk.
Seeing you two watch this show inspired me to look up similar shows to try. Great video Megan and Caleb.
This show is crazy
Finally daredevil
13:36 i said GET OUT
This is the best episode of the season.
Matt is still playing checkers.
👍
