Allison - an inexpensive way to light that little closet under the stairs would be some puck lights that you can get on Amazon. That might help make it a little less daunting?? You guys are doing a great job juggling a whole lot at one time!! You & Christian are a great team & Maddie is just adorable!! You can tell she is very smart by the way she manages things & plays! And those baby curls - oh how I miss those!😺My baby girl - who just turned 29 in April had the same ones!! I have no doubt you are taking care of yourself - especially since you have such a capable husband - which is the best! I love that you brag on him. I'm sure you will start to make some good mommy friends as you are making such a great effort to do so! And...having kids as a common denominator - I found definitely brings people together -especially once they are in school or pre- school!
We’re a military family with a baby as well so I totally understand how hard it is to make friends. This is our third move also. We found a church right away and got plugged into a small group. It was an easy way to quickly meet people and make friends. Another thing we do weekly is the library story time and gymnastics for my daughter. Maybe try to find music classes or mom meet ups in Knoxville? Another church has a mom group once a week that’s awesome too. We go even though we don’t attend the church and we love it. It’s been amazing to meet other moms and have play dates with like minded women. I hope you’re loving Knoxville! My husband graduated from UT Knoxville and we are hoping to end up back in Tennessee soon. ❤️
Oh girl I am right there with you about the friends! I want to join a Mom’s group but I feel too nervous! The older I get the harder it is to break out of my shell. Hope we can both find community, but in the meantime, thank goodness for UA-cam community 😊
I can say that as a person without kids, I personally don’t mind going to the park with my friends who have young kids. I know it’s harder because then I don’t have kids for their kids to play with, but I understand that sometimes mommas need adult friends who do the simple stuff. I go to the grocery store with my friends or to the park and what not. We’re out there, I promise
First I am a new comer to your channel. Second welcome to Knoxville, I want to offer a few helpful hints for you and your family. I hate mice too so I have a great pest control service that handles that for us. Allgood pest services, our guy is terrific. They have a box that feeds the mice outside the house and the chemical never comes inside. Plus no animals can get into it except for the mice so no chance of hurting that beautiful dog. He maintains it monthly no worries. You can also get a dehumidifier with a pump. I dealt with the same dehumidifier you use now until I bought my current one. It has a pump and a long hose to empty the water as it accumulates. It changed my life I got that one from Amazon.
Really loved that you mentioned making friends as an adult. Every assignment has been easy for us to make friends but this one we’re not assigned to the typical unit and it’s a joint assignment for my husband plus they do weekly rotating shift work. Hoping Church will give us a sense of community here once we find the moving box with our Church clothes 😂 I will say that elementary school kids seem to have the same issues when they move to areas where new kids are rare, my son is dealing with that at his new elementary school. Loving your content and playing it while we continue organizing this new house.
I enjoy watching your videos. So glad to hear you are finally getting seen by a doctor. Good luck to you and your family. Everything will turn out good in the end. Looking forward for the new videos.
I agree, making friends as an adult is hard. We have noticed that a lot of folks that have kids are older than us, so there’s normally an age gap and sometimes that can be tricky. I wish I had some tips. I guess maybe just be patient and pray about it :) we’ve lived in our house for a little over two years and it’s taken about that long to develop a relationship with one of our neighbors. So glad they are in our lives and that we stuck it out even through some of the beginning awkward stages. It’s almost like dating lol, and I just mean that it can sometimes be a while until you find someone that shares interests and values etc and normally there is a bit of an awkward stage. Everything is looking so good 😊 hope you have a great day!
New city making friends as an adult is not as niche as you think! I love going to the park with my friends with kids, and I’ve just started the new bumble bff app so we’ll see how that goes! Also, it just takes time to make friends and it’s awkward for awhile, don’t put too much pressure on yourself!
I really love watching these videos and I am in awe of your energy, especially going into your third trimester but it will all be keeping you extremely fit. 😃
It's also difficult for senior adults in a new town. Church helps, but so many seniors are extreme homebodies & we have a lot of traveling background. So it's hard to find new friends - we're still conversing with our old RV friends because they are still traveling or have just resettled themselves - we commiserate together!
I'm so glad you found a doctor! It is so hard anymore. I moved 5 years ago and have had nothing but difficulties finding medical care. I hope everything goes well for you.
Im 35 and have a coworker/friend who has a small kid and I know she can't just go out for coffee so I actually suggested we go to a park so he can play while we catch up. So there are some of us out there. I would say check out your local library, my mom used to take me to weekly reading groups and we all used to go to each others houses and play.
Hey lovely lady! I live about an hour from Knoxville in a small town. I have 4 children 5 and under. We come out that way so often for a friend who lives on a farm over there. We are always welcoming new moms into our group! Feel free to reach out!
I’m 23 and pregnant and a military spouse and it’s so unbelievably hard making friends where we’re stationed. Anyone my age that I meet is just at such a different stage in their life which is totally okay and I have made some great friends out of that. So while I don’t have my baby boy here yet, I do work at a daycare and I will say I feel like a great way to meet some mama friends would be to see if any local libraries near you offer storytelling or other activities. When I take the daycare kiddos they love it so much and it’s nice because you could put yourself out there and talk to other mamas that are there and make some pretty great friends that way!
Congratulations!!! You are doing a wonderful job with family and house . I just love your enthusiasm. Can’t wait to see more of your renovations. Have a great and blessed day.
You are doing a great job. Enjoy your show. About the pantry issue, you can put steel wool, not the kind with soap, in the hole. Mice will not chew through steel wool.
Great video. So glad you talked about the struggle to make friends as an adult. I have always struggled with making and keeping friends and as an adult it’s even harder. So if you figure out the secret there let me know! 😅
Public libraries have toddler reading groups with moms, the Y has toddler and mom swim lessons, community colleges often have activities for tots to practice teaching skills. Hope this helps
Its getting there. You will be fine working. I worked outside the home during both of my pregnancies. It was labor too. Just listen to your body. Wish I knew some one in your area to meet.
Maybe you could find a playgroup (like a MyGym or music class) for Maddie and that will allow you to be around some more people in similar life stages that could potentially turn into friends.
I was a military wife. Navy. So, I get you. My best friends are like family. Still have contact with them 30 yrs later. You'll make friends. It is harder when not in the military though.
A thought for the basement while you are in the interim of renovation. Do you have a 6ft folding table? You could out boxes on top that you need to get into and boxes and bedding underneath for what tyou don't need now.
Some cities have libraries that offer programs for moms and children, you might look in to that. Book lover that you are it would be a perfect fit. Good luck.
We retired in the mountains five years ago and I only know the folks in the church across the street that I attend. All 24 of them. But I only see them on Sundays. I have no friends here.
I also find it difficult to make mom friends. Our church has a Monday play group for 1.5 hours and it's nice seeing the same people over and over. I haven't gone long enough to make a friend yet but its been the best place so far for the opportunity. Maybe if yours does not you could help start something!
Don’t worry about ur basement bathroom I used have ugly bathroom then later will do look better. You can do it. Thank u show around tour ur house basement and oh basement outside porch which I love. 👍 forward to see your doing outside porch something backyard. 👍
Church group may have babysitting or people they recommend. I had a " mother's helper" from church. A 13 yr old a few hours a week to help with my toddler so I could concentrate on my newborn and myself. (Like take a shower😂)
I have a military girlfriend that's in TN and she has joined one of the military spouse's FB groups, so maybe try looking for one in your area 😊 I pray this can be helpful to you 🙏
I’m a military wife and I have to make friends everywhere I move. It’s hard to make friends. We moved to GA and we are here for 6 months and I don’t plan on making friends bc I feel like there is no point …. 😂 I will put in more effort when we move to our main base . I don’t like making friends with some military wives bc they are drama .. so I am kind of picky on the friends I choose.
Does your church have groups for parents and kids, here in Australia we have playgroups and activities at church that are kid focused for you to attend and socialise with kids and parents. It’s not easy making friends as adults.
i have been where you are many times with moving. Here are a few suggestions that have helped us make new friends. Find church women groups with babysitting. Also, smile and strike up conversations with other Mom's that are at parks with their children around Maddie's age. Take time to stay for a bit after church to chat with people. Join a book club once a month at library. The fitness in the oark sounds wonderful. We all need community.
I know how you feel. My husband and I are expecting out fifth baby, we will be married 15 years this year and we still live local but we have no friends. Our family and old friends have moved on and everyone is living their own lives and we have no social life at all. It is very lonely. I have had moments throughout the years that I just cried because I wanted friends so bad and I had no one and I still don't.
I have family there in Knoxville area! They are near Powell. They have children Maddie's age as, and they're believers too! I can try and connect you guys!
I could understand that all of these doctor issues would happen to someone in Maryville or Alcoa, but with how large Knoxville is, it's hard to imagine that there's not a single gynocologist who would take you. I'm very sorry to hear you had to go though all of this trouble. Thankfully you have one now and I hope it went well, considering this video is 3 months old at this point.
Good to hear. My brother was at Tennova for a few months up until his death in April. They treated him very well. I hardly ever leave my city, so the communication the hospital had with me was a blessing. @@AllisonMcPhail
They say you can do whatever you were doing before pregnancy during pregnancy! I think people are taken back when they see a pregnant mama kickboxing or jogging or in your case, tons of DIYs, but new research shows continuing to do what you were doing is good for you if you feel up for it 🤷🏼♀️
See if they have like a moms group there. Making friends is hard as an adult. I was with a mom group on one of our moves and it was great! They would have play dates and mom night out. It was fun.
I can't believe there are no doctors who would see you!? When you are very pregnant that's the more important time for doctor checkups I wonder why if you can prove you had a previous doctor they won't see you? 🤔
Allison - an inexpensive way to light that little closet under the stairs would be some puck lights that you can get on Amazon. That might help make it a little less daunting?? MADELINE IS SO CUTE, ALWAYS HELPING 🙂
You’re doing a great job. Your body will tell you when to sit down. I can’t wait to see the whole house after all of the renovations.

Same! I’d go to that park
Thank you for saying that! I should’ve mentioned that it’s also a scheduling problem since most people are at work when we’re going to the park!

Maddie is just a very cute doll. Y’all are making great progress.
Good job Christian😊.You guys work so hard I know you will make this house and amazing home.I am excited to watch the process.😊❤
Cutest family. Happy to see all the progress going on in your home. Best wishes and blessings to all of you.
You & hubby are doing a good job.

Yes, dead bugs are a good thing. That’s what I tell myself while living in military housing.😂

Stuff steel wool into every hole the mice are coming in through, and then seal it off. They will try to chew their and die
