Just watched this episode for the second time absolutely fantastic as they all are. A good mate of mine Jeffo Denton is part owner of the Penong Pub and probably cooked your tucker there. His Dad was Goog Denton who pushed Goog's track in the 70's, hopefully when you get the Oka you do the track as it is fantastic. Another mate Mario Nicholls used to take his Kombi out to Goog's lake regularly, the last time i remember was when we did the Memorial for Goog. Cheers Phil

Your journey towards Eucla reminded me that Mr Policeman used to have a red Holden Commodore wagon. A strange memory as I have not been caught as I just cruise along. An incredible stretch of road - the wedgies always amaze me. Your videos are great, the best because I tend to forget to take photos or videos.
Seven times I have crossed the Nullarbor, and six of the seven have been in VWs... It is great to see families having great fun - keep it up and keep safe...

The good thing is Mr. K is a good reliable durable all around mechanic. The VW engine stock is a lot of mechanical breakdowns...but if you are mechanically inclined you are in for an adventure. I owned an 82 air cooled Vanagon and a 88 Watercooled Westfalia which I totally missed. More exciting kombi van to you guys. Love ur blog.

Hey guys loving all your vids old and new but have to admit theres something raw about the kombi days thats just awsome seeing you fix it and the way max looks at you when you fix it is a beautiful thing man. Hey bro a trick someone taught me somewhere about dip stick that are had to read is get a file and make cross hatch side to side patterns for the oil to sit in making it easier to read. Your a way better mech than me and probably a bit late but hopefully the tip helps someone in someway someday. Peaceout. ✌️

Wow! I loved that video. I watch a lot of Aussie travel videos and see all the amazing scenery ( which is great) but this style of filming every day life is way more engaging.one tends to get saturated with beautiful scenery-you tube channel after channel to the point where I need to stop watching it because I want to travel and see it myself! This episode is where the real interest is. Its sustainable and real in my opinion. Love it!

Hey guys! Midwife here! Just a handy tip! The celexane you’re using has a special hard plastic cover to reduce needle stick injuries so you don’t have to recap. Just push the syringe in a bit harder once you’re done in the needle and a little plastic cover come out over the needle.

I still remember that Great Australian Bight view when I was 14 in 1984, it's stunning, you can pretty much see the shape of our beautiful coastline as far as the eye can see, I've never seen such an amazing view anywhere else of our coast in Australia since. I too am heading off from SA to WA after easter, can't wait, it's been since that year with my Parent's that was my last time across the Nullarbor. Thank you for sharing.
Also a quick one, did you see any check points where they take your fruit/veg/meat etc., off you, they did back in 1984? I look forward to hearing from you soon, thanks guys.

road tripping with the little one is a very special time and makes great memories. Stopping for a stretch and explore every couple of hours as you have done is definitely the way to go. Aiming for the pub at the end of a long day on the road just makes it all easier - no prep, no cooking, no cleanup - and it helps the local economy.

Madura is the name of the fuel stop. where you drop down onto Null (No) Abor (Trees).
We worked out at Loongana on the East-West Railway line about 80 Kms north of Madura out in the great, empty, stinking hot nowhere.
Back in 1987-88 we abode in Asbestos houses track-side in small towns, about 30-40kms apart between Kalgoorlie and Port Augusta. Gas fridges and small petrol generators were our lot.
No radio, no TV; just the wheels upon trains clanking and clacking in syncopation to the moaning of the wind through the peppermint trees shading most dwellings; a lonely song of visitation and departure as they thundered past in the darkest hours of the night.
Gas fridges and small petrol generators were our lot in dusty outposts victualed by the Tea and Sugar train once every week.
Now there is nothing, but a lonesome wind song and fading memories of what used to be. Time took it away.

Love the simplicity and style of your Kombi travels folks, keep it simple. So great to see that Zuri is a perfectly normal little girl who likes to "bug" her parents for her love and entertainment. If you think you've got it tough now wait until you're traveling with two, we did our travels camping in a tent with two little kids, boy and girl in the early '80's, sometimes pretty stressful with all the "bugging" each other then mum, then dad. But they grow up so fast and you miss the times and fun we had as a family together travelling. And our kids turned out all the better for that time on the road and are now doing it with their own little families.

    Hi Karstan and Maxine,
For your oil leak I’d like to suggest you try some stuff called ATP AT-205 reseal.
I’ve used it myself and I think it’s definitely worth a try.
It won’t fix every oil leak every time but it fixed my front pinion oil seal in my Land Rover while I was on holiday in Melbourne (I live in Brisbane)
I’d just bought the truck at auction and wanted to make sure it would be as reliable as possible for the trip home.
I keep a couple of bottles with me whenever I’m on a trip.
    Hope that helps😊

Balladonia Rd IS NOT OFFICIALLY CLOSED. When coming from the south there is NO closed signs, just the usual 'take care' signs, we drove it 18mths ago with an offroad caravan with absolutely no issues, no signs no nothing but lovely country, good rough campsites, historic homesteads, some other tracks to explore all good adventuring, in fact an excellent tourist drive that would likely attract visitors to linger in the area. For one business to force the council to put up these probably illegal signs is just plain dumb. I assert that this road could actually generate more business for the nearby businesses as an adventure tourist drive could easily be setup (Balladonia/Cape Arid/Esperance/Norseman/Balladonia). The locals down south at a particular remote pub on the way to Cape Arid reckon its a wank, they advised us to just drive the road as many locals do. Word has it that there are some monopolistic players with council influence here that want you to drive from the fuel refill at Balladonia to the fuel refill at Norseman. Say no more, wink wink. Just drive the road as the road management is fully inconsistent as no signs from south. No fines would ever hold up in court. Total BS going down here and they have been outed by many others in many forums.

    Long boring road that one.
I did a solo Harley trip a few years ago.
    Perth to Norsman
    Norsman to SA border
    SA border to Port Augusta
    Port Augusta to Geelong.
Every day was a long day.

Have a chat with your doctor about aspirin for thinning your blood. A work mate of mine had the same issue unfortunately after a couple of miscarriages, was put on aspirin and no problems after that and an aspirin is less obtrusive than a needle. 😁
