Hi guy's love ya shows keep up the great work and have a lovely time Stay safe and can't wait to see next upload Cheers wazza.
I know that area very well, i used to live in Leigh Creek just down the road.
BUT :: you should for all of the family please do a advanced 4x4 course its really worth it for safety and the knowledge that you're going to be able to put into place especially if ya planning on the Cape.
Going down those little declines ya shoudnt need to use your brakes much ya engine revs up and it should just walk down for you.
Good luck mate, stay safe 😎

Love your expressions about scratchy trees, eeekk I was cringing too! Glad you both got to do the track and work together as a team. Alot of running to tops of hills now, ask The Outfit about it, they did lots of running up hills in Bowser.
Thanks for sharing your life with me

Thanks for the epic episode - you have us now looking at overlanders and stepping away from a fully built LC 200 tourer to have an all in one offering. So capable and yes I knew OKA brand back 30 years ago as well when they were only bought by mining companies .
The spirit of adventure outweighs 99.9% of people watching this channel -
Use those lockers and walk it up and down any big slopes or climbs-
    thanks guys.!

South Australia has some amazing scenery and adventure 4W driving. Many years ago I was flying a Cessna 210 from Broken Hill to Leigh Creek, so crossing the mountains south of the Gammon Ranges. As I approached the mountain crossing I was confronted by thunderstorms and very black clouds. Thankfully I had marked a nice long airstrip South East of that location on my flight map on a previous trip. I turned back and landed there (on the gas pipeline line from Moombah Gas field to Adelaide). I waited for the heavy weather front to pass and then took off and headed to Leigh Creek. Thankfully I was able to purchase a 200 ltr drum of Avgas at the airstrip as dodging the weather had meant that I was beginning to eat into my planned fuel reserves for the end of the flight to Leigh Creek.
My adventure in to the area had become as interesting as yours.

What a fantastic drive. The OKA looks so good compared with a Unimog, they are far too top heavy and clumsy to look safe on difficult tracks. The OKA is graceful. Kudos to you both for your driving. I’m glad you finished off with a beer, it helped me to come down from the tension as well. Don’t listen to the criticisms, I think what you are doing with your lives is good for the children and will help them to grow up to be strong. I loved the part where Karstan was helping you all to climb the track, shouldering the responsibility. It’s going to be a tough call always to find the line between being responsible enough without becoming too cautious.❤

I really think you needed to do a advanced 4wdriving course. You are driving a top heavy vehicle and trying to climb a off camber rutted hill without a locker. You didn't cut out because of how steep it is you stalled and rolled back because you tried to climb it without lowering your tyre pressure no rear locker and panicked. You also need to learn that having a front locker on you makes the vehicle alot harder to turn with it on. That is why if you are climbing a steep rutted hill with a turn in it it's best to use only the rear locker in that situation. If you think that track was difficult don't ever go nrar the Victorian High Country

@@matelukac424 Wow, why the negativity? If the channel isn't for you, then just move on like you are suggesting you might do. Do you have a UA-cam channel that you can show us all just how experienced you are?

    • @darrengray2309-v6x
      @darrengray2309-v6x День тому

@@stefanmokrzecki16what is your problem do you not have the brains to relize how easily that situation of them rolling backwards could have turned into a disaster. And if you open your eyes the original comment gave them some constructive criticism of how to do this properly. Everyone who does this sort of track and doesn't have years of experience should do a 4wd course. I also think you need to open your ears aswell and listen to what they read just b4 they started the track it warned them how extreme it was. If you want to do something like that while being inexperienced that's fine but why do it with little children. I have seen the carnage that happens when a 4wd gets it wrong climbing a rutted steep hill. And I will tell you 1 thing he put those children's life in danger it is quite plain to see in the video.

I know that the cameras don't do the steepness justice, but I thought that the gearing would have been low enough to drive down some of those hills. Are you sure that it was in low range?. Great experience for both of you. Well done on keeping your cool on roll back. UA-cam is full of roll back videos that don't end well. Looking forward to the next.

You have got to remember to fold that side step away or you are going to wipe it off, saw it out on at least 3 occasions. Engage that rear locker even if you think you can make that climb, no sense having the good gear if you don't use it. A very capable vehicle, love your content, compliments of the season from NZ.

When you go down a steep hill you should put it into lowest gear and use the gearbox braking to hold your speed slow down the hill. Especially in a air brake system, you don't want to have to rely on the air too much.

Think you need to have a good size reciprocating saw with the 9 inch wood blades handy in the cab while driving tight tracks .
Extremely handy to quickly jump out and trim branches , even small trunks etc. , even getting halfway through gives enough to snap the rest .
A lot easier / cleaner than an Elec. chainsaw , which i only really ever get out the box for large track blocking trunks or firewood at camp .
A lot of the time the recip. saw is good enough to cut enough firewood for a quick 1 night camp without all the drama of bar oil chain sharpening etc.

    Theyre different set of gears.
Shouldnt hear that clunk. Means drive wasnt meshed up properly with low range.
Almost sounded like youve two speed diff and not changed right.
Just need to rock them back and fourth gently til they change range
    But yeah love the video.

    OMG
Did that track 9 months ago in a Pajero Sport and it’s relatively easy.
I guess you’re trying to be entertaining, but that Oka would eat that track.
