It makes sense, however this watered down hip hop because now artist who were dope lyricists, we’re now pressured to dumb down their lyrics, to reach a larger audience.

They did distance themselves from Westcoast rap in 1993. Snoop Doggy Dogg wasn't getting no play and Dr. Dre barely. The Eastcoast was jealous of the Westcoast rise. When that war started,escalated and 2Pac died...they damn sure,still wasn't playing Westcoast music. Even now they don't play you. Nipsey never was played here,The Game even with G-Unit got no play. I can't name any other Westcoast rapper because over Eastcoast you're unknown
The back lash started in 93, but they were still getting supported. They didn't start freezing hardcore hip-hop out till after the deaths of biggie and pac. And for whatever reason West Coast rap got most of rhe blow back, but it effected the genre as a whole tho. Cause now EVERYONE was just making club songs and shit.
