Timestamps are completely wrong.
I think they're last weeks? Lol
He might have copied from the wrong show notes 😂
Yeah they are lol

Fixed. Thanks for the report 😀👍
I'm a big fan of lxqt. I love the ability to switch the wm base from open box to any other window manager
I agree, that is a really cool feature of LXQt
"And of course, Remember to like that smash button". 😂 I loved that part.
Perfect Weekly Update. And kIller closing Rhyme
Retired Grandpa Leslie here. "Thank you for your presentations". I watch every one of them on my TV (with UA-cam). Sometimes, my wife lets me onto the desktop to post. Here is a question that I did not see mentioned with AlmaLinux. Do they have btrfs support? I would be interested in testing Alma as a desktop system if it has btrfs support.
Thank you very much for the kind words, I am happy you enjoy the show. AlmaLinux does not have BTRFS becausee RHEL doesnt have it either but it is possible that Alma might consider it in the future (based on "people familiar with the matter").
@@michael_tunnell By the way, I was watching you from about edition 10 to 80 and beyond, when you had the old format. Your current format is great. Your diction speed and quality are just right. Some other presenters on other channels, not-so.
Is the ratio of preparation to presentation about 15 to 1?
Thank you very much for the kind words! The show has absolutely evolved in a lot of ways. I think this version is ridiculously better than the previous iterations. I’m always going to try to improve things where I can each week and I think the next episode which comes out in just a couple hours is going to be better than even this one.
To answer your question, it’s more like 20 to 1. Research, prep, recording, editing, getting the show notes and transcripts and subtitles ready for publishing, creating a thumbnail, and etc. This show usually takes up to 20 hours to make and recording the part where I’m on camera saying it all is about 1 hour of the work. The next episode of TWIL, coming in a few hours is even bigger time vampire because the topics are enormous so it’s probably 30 hours easy and maybe as much as 40 hours this week.
Damn it I love Linux
Michael you missed the Nouveau Lead Joins Nvidia in the timestamps. Its 3:23
Fixed. Thanks for the report 😀👍
LXQt looks pretty interesting! might give it a shot some day
It was my first DE back on my first Linux experience. Just like Xfce, does not look very handsome at first, but with love and tweakings, you got a Chad.
Hey Michael...been subbed for a couple years...that "ell" sign off is awesome 😎
El Psy Congroo
😁 thank you very much!
I am glad open source NVidia hardware improves on Linux
I'd like to see some benchmark comparisons between current and 2.0 LXQt versions. And I look forward to run LXQt 2.0 regardless.
For years I've avoided NVidia like the plague, ever since I had a GeForce2 MX 400 with the closed-source driver NVidia stopped developing somewhere around 2011 or so (and the Nouveau alternative was way worse). It's strange that for years the company didn't notice the fact that Linux users tend to search for Intel HD graphics which rarely poses problems. Probably the recent surge in the number of Linux desktop users made them jump the wagon, but it's gonna take time and effort to make success.
Man, I wish Bazzite was based on Arch. Not that I really care which distro it is, but I've had this endeavourOS install for over two years now and I have so many things everywhere across 4 drives and I'm scared to move and mess things up. Lol
If Bazzite were based on arch, it would be an easy switch.
yea but i kinda like the 1995 1998 style , which i wish i could have... KDE3.5 with the right themes and colors, I could get my win9x feel ... i wouldn't mind a wayland but with a win9x twist.
I bet there's a theme for KDE that at least is going for that look, and you can look for and install them right from the settings app.🤓 It's just another convenience that makes me love Plasma so much, and KDE just keeps churning out fixes and features, and ever faster too, so there's always something new to check out!🥳
@@Bob-of-Zoid all i remember is in KDE 3.5 I even replicated windows 9x "Rainy Day" color scheme, and exported to a file , but that file format is only good for KDE 3.5 , I mean i still have it, but it doesn't work in later version of KDE obviously... Theo nly thing I can get in Plasma5 somewhat is a windows decoration that has the 9x look, but I still can't replicated the colors .. oh well.
@@breadmoth6443 I don't think there is a color you can't tweak in Plasma 5, but now I'm on Plasma 6, so not sure what all may have changed, but if anything, it will be even more functional as for tweaking, but most older themes and other addon stuff won't be updated right away and will start trickling in, some may not get updated at all.
@@Bob-of-Zoid well i cannot replicate my themes i made from kde 3.5 in 4 or 5 , i have the file but it is useless
@@breadmoth6443 That too can be done, I don't think all that much changed in how themes are made, if anything they may have made it easier. Other than sounds and graphics, the rest is all text files anyone can edit with the know how. They have it all documented at KDE, but you have to have some understanding of coding to get through it. I gave it a look and it looks like a lot of work: Been there done that back when I was on Windows since 3.1 when I went all out hacking into system files and changing shit, installing M$'s unofficial "Powertools", and theming apps... furiously trying to make my OS suit me better only for an update to take a bunch of it away again! 🤬
Once I decided to get serious with Linux, I didn't distro hop for long at all and I found KDE Plasma, and with it I had more out of the box control of it all than I first knew what to do with.🤯 I tried a few different distros with Plasma, and the Arch based ones suit me better, so I settled on Antergos and so am now on EndeavourOS it's predecessor and have been for nearly a decade, and loving every minute. OK, so there is a snafu here and there, but the boo boo's don't hurt nearly as much, and heal much faster on Linux, as we just saw with the ZX thing. With windows who knows how many computers would have got intruded and exploited before MS even decided to get their ass in gear on it, let alone tell anyone!
I know the proper pronunciation of Qt is "cute" but it sounds stupid to me I will continue calling it " cue tee" lol
They're a cutie
glad i aint alone in this line of thinking
Cutie keeps that spirit
👍!
have bazzite in my hands, hopefully that firefox update comes my way.
came here only for LXQT update news
That’s cool, feel free to stay 😎
Don't forget to like that smash button 😋
MEGA RAID made me laugh
What is happening with Mozilla quantum?
In what context? Quantum is the browser engine of Firefox so everything changing in the engine each release is related to Quantum
I think you pasted last week's timestamps lol
Fixed. Thanks for the report 😀👍
Hey Michael, are you okay, you look a little fatigued?
Lxqt looks amazing. The old look was really a turn off for me. Do they use the old version on MX Linux? I always turned it down because it has that 1990’s look.
Looking forward to open source Nvidia news since I only have Nvidia GPU’s
Keep up the good work you do here, we really love your Gnews.
Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad you enjoy the show. 😎👍
As for MX Linux, they probably have the old look because 2.0 just came out and MX Linux has to wait for the new version to be published in Debian
@@michael_tunnell Yeah, I have been wanting to check MX out for years and installed it on VM, but the I saw the 1990's look, I didn't give it a chance. Maybe I should give it go when they have updated it. Thx 4 ur rply.
did you change your audiosetup ? it just sounds different , not like before , and not as good sorry to say.
The microphone is slightly farther from me. You might notice it’s not in camera view and the only way to do that is having it farther away
@@michael_tunnell i honestly do not mind seeing the mic, you sounded better ; plus it didn't seem as echoey or had that much reverb
I like the new Firefox URL in clipboard detection, and also sure what GPU I'm going to get, and it's not NVIDIA! I want Multiple display ports because I'm boycotting HDMI, and I want HDR! Even though this Nouveau/NVIDIA thing is happening, It's not going to fix the HDMI consortium, nor those in charge making shit decisions at NVIDIA!
If NVIDIA wants to drag their ass getting on the Linux bandwagon not to mention their price gouging, then let their sales reflect its effects!
I KNOW IT'S SHOW NOTES, but i cant stop hearing you say "show nuts" 😭
Like the smash button has been way overused.. a joke only works a couple of times. Change it up a bit, maybe "Up that thumb button"? Or Smash your thumb? no thats not it .. Up your thumb?... oh that sounds lurid welp you all know what I'm failing to say here..
Change out the script a bit more it's getting a bit tired.
Button up that thumb smash?
You don’t like it, some people do. Can’t please everyone. Besides I’ve been saying this for over 200 episodes, it’s now expected by many
@@michael_tunnell Time for an online survey!
