Nice video guys. We are headed back to Baja in May then onto Mainland MX. Excited to see what you guys end up doing there. Looking forward to the South America journey; that will begun to watch. cheers
Your video work and content just keeps getting better. Soon I'll be staying home on Friday nights just to catch a first view. Good luck in your travels.
Yea, it’s something you hope to not need but are happy when it works. Thanks for watching! We are headed your way and are really looking forward to exploring Columbia! Let us know if there are any places you think we should visit there.
Enjoyed it Peter and Kathy! Must have been the weight of that Old Man shell that got you bogged down...jk! I love collecting shells and rocks from all over too, they're scattered all over my 4Runner and house. Thanks for the Sahara tip I'll have to remember that. Safe travels!
The traction control is what is making the rig huck and buck. Do you have a way of turning the TC off? It's 100% going to get you stuck. Otherwise, lockers would also be a good idea. Also, you're never going to de-bead a tire unless you have less than 5-8 psi and you're putting energy into the tire for it to flex. In sand, no rocks just pure sand you'd get away with 5-8psi. 12-15 is my go to but I also drive a Toyota and they're unstoppable in sand. Half the time I don't air down. That's Puerto Penasco sand... about 80 miles straight across the BAY from San Felipe. Following for the BAJA BITS! SUB'D.
The MBZ has a crummy turbo lag and if you loose momentum…the rig stops and getting going is a struggle. I turn off the traction control off road…you kinda have to use the brake and accelerator to stay in the sweet spot for RPM…turbo spin+ the paddle shifter
Yes, Great tips from you and @mexicoPescadoro. I was just in 4HI and did'nt have any issues coming in. But, I did loose all momentum going out and wished I'd turned off traction control and aired down more. It's all clear in hindsight.
Super la quincaillerie. On en a encore quelques unes comme ça en France. J'y passerai des heures C'est source de plein de nouvelles idées. Le bivouac sur la plage est grandiose. A quelle température est l'eau? Peut t'on se baigner? Bonne route.
Hello thanks, The water is starting to get warmish around here but many might feel it's still a little cool to swim in February. It's much warmer by March/April.
I'm a new subscriber. Love your adventures. I would love to learn about the equipment you use for your photography. Drone, camera, computer, software for editing. I am building my dream Adventure Sprinter. Hopefully I'll run into you one day in Arizona. Thank you for the great content.
Hello, Thanks for writing, I'm using a mix of Sony A7R4, A9, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, GoPro and Mavic 3 pro. Here is a video showing my editing/phot workstation. It's taken me 10 years but I finally have a workstation that suits my needs 99%. ua-cam.com/video/1aifyvHBHzI/v-deo.htmlsi=xwfAk-P8pgpdRjh6
If on your way back to North, you pass by San Francisco Bay Area, let me know we can check out each other’s van, I have a customized van also the same size as yours
Another Great Video. QUESTION: Do you ever worry about safety down in Mexico? (Sorry if I sound like a dumb American, as a child I spent a lot of time in san Felipe)
Hey, Thank you. Yes, we do worry ourselves. It is a real thing. But maybe not as hyped as the news makes it out to be. We are watching US State Dept warnings for specific areas. And do our best to monitor other Facebook groups where travels post the good and bad updates. We try to not stop us from traveling but allow us to hopefully stay out of the bad areas and increase our safety level. We have found most of Mexico to be very open and welcoming.
You can’t see pot holes, topes ( speed bumps) cows, unlit motorcycles and bicycles, lit pedestrians and cars with one headlight out. Or are you writing about the old bandito stereotypes when you say safety?
@@conchscooter Good friend was camping on Baja in his RV with his brother a couple years back. They were awaken to a pounding on the door in the middle of the night, brother opened the window blind and was shot through the door and killed. Such a beautiful place, it's a shame.
@@HighCountryRambler Where in Baja? I've never heard of that and I've been monitoring all the sources to hear about these things for years. Murders are very rare in Baja, especially of tourists.
Love the haircut Kathy. Last I saw in Deadhorse it was long. It looks great. Also love the shells.
Your the best,thanks for that!
excellent tip on turning tires to add sand back into the hole
Thanks, I heard that somewhere and I was really surprised how well it worked the first time I tried it.
Enjoyed this Peter and Kathy, So glad we were able to meet you and George. Keep living the dream!
Thanks for the message. I hope our paths cross again!
This is so much fun!
I can't wait to get my Revel.
One day.
It is! I hope you get it too.
Great job getting out of that sand trap. Almost as bad as the Fire Swamp in Princess Bride!
Ha, thanks Craig!

That turning the steering wheel when stuck is a new one to me. I hope I never need to try it. Good one.
Cheers from Colombia.

Well done on getting unstuck. Are you allowed to drive on all the beaches there?
Hey, thanks, yes, for the most part you can drive on most beaches in Baja (that I know of). But it can get really soft so be ready...

Peter - great video just as ever! What is your van's GVW?
Thanks so much. I haven't weighed it in a while. I'd guess it's around 9K lbs.
Is that the quicksand they always warned us about growing up?
Yes, I was waiting for the giant sand worm to come up and swallow my Revel.

We liked poblano taqueria in San Felipe (there are a few locations).
Awesome! There are so many great taco shops.
Nothing like a little sand in your shoes…

Sounds great! I'd love to. The Bay Area is awesome! But it will be awhile as we won't head north until we reach the bottom of South America.

Is the no driving at night MO a safety issues?
You can’t see pot holes, topes ( speed bumps) cows, unlit motorcycles and bicycles, lit pedestrians and cars with one headlight out. Or are you writing about the old bandito stereotypes when you say safety?
It’s mostly for the large potholes and livestock that roam freely at night. But also nothing good happens after midnight (Baja Midnight is 8pm).
