One tip I learned long ago that really makes a difference: don't put sand in the sand bags. It easily leaks out and can also jam the zipper. Use small gravel instead. If you rinse it to get any small particles or dirt off and let it dry before putting it in your 'sand' bags, you won't have any issues with leakage or other annoying issues with your weight bags. I'm using bags that I filled with gravel five or six years ago and they're just like I filled them yesterday.
Ok, I actually never comment on any youtube video. There is no big reason behind it, I just never did. But now I truly feel the necessity to express how much I appreciate your videos. You feed us with so much high-quality content it's insane! Thank you so much.
I have a two C-stand overhead, with some hefty build quality from Glide Gear. I thought about the camera shake and all. I replaced the cross bar with some schedule 40 aluminum framing pipe. Best $169 I ever spent. I even got me a 2nd one. Great channel. 🙏
Thank you, this was quite helpful as I was looking for an inexpensive C Stand and the cheapest I was finding was $120. This tips will also help me take pictures of clothing better.
Wow! All such great tips Philip! We went the c-stand route as well for all our overhead mounting, and for us it's hard to picture a better piece of equipment for the job. Very nicely done!
Very nice sir! I currently shoot with GoPros on SNAP Mounts (magnetic mount) and I can throw the GoPro on the underside of my microwave to get a really stable top down shot of my cooking surface. Pretty niche setup but it works well for me. I will certainly have use of your tips one day far in the future when I have a fancier setup.
Oh and I really liked your “pop up” before I was able to comment (“don’t be a jerk or you will be blocked”) How do you set that up? I was trying to google / UA-cam this but can’t find the answer…
Hi Philip, thank you for the video. I have an old-fashioned tripod and an iPhone. I would like to figure out how to inexpensively film overhead. Very inexpensively, I just want to film a couple of videos. I can’t figure out what kind of an arm I would need vertically to attach to the tripod.
Great video once again! I recently got a Sony a6000 and my old "flimsy" phone mounts can't hold up the weight of my camera. So this video helps out since I'm looking for new mounts. Thanks 😊
I don't understand this note in the Amazon link for the Newer C stand: NOTE: When you adjust the angle under the conditions that the weight on both sides of the joint head is not balanced, it will damage the screw that connects the two halves of the joint. SO PLEASE hold the rear part of the arm to keep the arm balanced firstly before adjusting the angle
Is there an alternative to a c stand if you are just planning on using your phone? I am thinking maybe since it is more lightweight, there could be cheaper options?
Hi Philip! Do you have any tips for shooting overhead + straight on at the same time? For example, if you were cooking how would you setup your overhead + your a cam?
Hi Philip! I want to shoot my stove but there's no access to it except the kitchen closet that the stove, do you have any suggestion for a tripod or any device I can use to shoot an overhead stove video?
when your cooking/shooting - how do you make sure youre always in focus? Do you have an external screen setup? I know makeup gurus have an external screen so they can see themselves, the lighting and make sure their hand isnt blocking when filming
Another way to deal with focus is to use back button focus, something many pro photographers set up on their cameras as a matter of course. All major cameras - Nikon, Canon, Sony - have a setting for it. BBF separates focus from the shutter button, so instead of the 'half press' of the shutter button to focus, the focus function is removed from the shutter button and assigned to a different button on the camera. This button is usually on the back of the camera - hence the term 'back button focus'. When you focus this way, once you push the button on the back, focus is locked until you push the focus button again. So it accomplishes the same thing as manual focus but is usually quicker.

This is super amazing video
Can the C stand be used as a standard tripod without the arm? Or should I get one for overhead and one for standard shots?

Hello i like all your contents. Thanks for sharing. And here your new friend subscriber
For the sand bags….put the sand inside sealable plastic bags first. Otherwise, very fine sand is going come out of the sand bag.
Can you tell I didn’t do that lol
Awesome stay connected
thanks your videos! Spanish subtitle ,please

Can anybody help? is it possible to turn a video around once it is shot? Just asking beacause most of these videos are shot from the "wrong" angle.
Can I watch the process on my laptop ?
What type of light are you using
What was the App name? Didn't get it
What is the name of the app you mentioned at the end of the video ?
Did you ever find out, I was wondering the same thing.
