The Simmos SD1250 has an amazing bluetooth MIDI feature which allows you to connect to Simmons' advanced drum app which allows you to edit all of the parameters easily within the module, you can play along to your music library, and even use the iPad as a sampler to sample your own sounds into the module! In this video I also show how the SD1250 works great with a double kick pedal, as well as demonstrate using Melodics and Garageband using the Bluetooth MIDI and audio connections! Donate to the Double Kick Drum Fund at streamelements.com/demonicswe.... Oh, btw I teach drums to students of all ages on Zoom (Google Duo)! Message me on IG @demonic_sweaters if you're interested. Just got a SD 1250 0n sale for 800 bucks, excited to see how it plays,,your videos are great, thanks Justin👍
Hope you enjoy it!
I love the App! Alesis had an app about 7 years ago. They sadly abandoned it. But it is really the future of electronic drums. Too bad they didn't have the foresight to see it. Kudos to Simmons for doing this.
That demo track sounds like a late 80s/early 90s PM Entertainment action movie soundtrack - so good 😊👍🏾
Immensely helpful, thank you! 🙌🏼
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Justiin👍
I love how the Melodics app counted you in.
Excellent video!
Thank you!
Thank you for the video. 👍👍✌️✌️
My pleasure!!
Looks like Simmons is trying to get serious about edrums again! I think they just passed Alesis in my book. Great looking too! Though I liked the blue on the 1200 better.
yeah, this thing is seriously nice. Hopefully Simmons' reputation will recover from the past few years. I think also the 600 and 1200 seem like awesome kits
Thanks Justin, picked up a 1250,and a I pad 9excited to check it out, can't play music off of you tube through the module to play along with.thanks
the SD1250 has bluetooth midi only, not audio. You can use one of these for bluetooth audio amzn.to/41vYrOQ and plug it into the aux input on the module.
Dank
My garage band doesn't pick up all the drums/cymbals. Did yours do it without any adjustments?
Yeah it did, I didn’t have to change anything
How do you keep the simmons app from keep connecting while using garage band?
Just close it. Make sure it’s not running in the background
Is the 1200 also able to midi bluetooth connect to Garage Band, etc.?
Yes
When you play along with a song using Apple Music can you record that into GarageBand as a cover?
no you can't, not directly
@@demonicsweaters okay thanks. Do you know of a good way to record a cover with actual song audio with this set?
Does Simmons have any future plans to include us android users too?
I’m not sure but I wouldn’t count on it
CAn you record on garage band with bluetooth midi?
Yep!
Can this app be used with an M1 Macbook Air and still be the same as on an IPad?
No
Would ipad mini ios 6 16GB work with this do you think? I am more of an Android guy and don't want to spend a lot of money on Ipad for now. Also which Mapex pedal model are you using and do you still like it?
I actually don't know. But if you can find Garageband for that old of an iPad, it should work. I don't see why not. The only problem is sometimes older apple products no longer can install apps from the app store, but if it already has it on it, it should work.
Great video!! Just bought the sd1250 after watching your videos! I have an iPad pro with USB-C. I can connect to the module via bluetooth and make adjustments in the Simmons Advanced app, but if I want to play songs from my iPad music library through the module, I was told that I need an apple USB-C camera adapter (basically USB-C to USB) then plug into the module via USB (the printer type USB on the back). I already have a wire that's USB-C to USB and tried plugging that into the USB-A on the right side but it doesn't seem to work, so I'm guessing I need to get that adapter in order for that to work properly?? When I try to use the playalong feature, the audio from my music just plays out of my iPad and not out of the module (headphones hooked up to 1/8" headphone output of module). Am I doing something wrong? Any advice?
What you are doing wrong is thinking the SD1250 will take audio input through USB, which it won't. You will need to get a USB C headphone adapter (unless the iPad pro has a headphone output) and run an aux cable from the headphone out into the aux input on the back of the module. That should do that trick!
@@demonicsweaters Ahhhh that makes sense! I just bought a USB-C to USB-A adapter to try since I think the standard USB on the module is only for a USB drive. This way I can go from my iPad to the other USB (the printer type USB connection on the back). But I will definitely try your suggestion and respond back on here in case it helps anyone else. Thanks again for the quick response!!
@@bdc957 Yeah, the USB A port is only for backing up data and recording to USB though the module, the USB B Port is only for MIDI. The Aux in is what you want. Though you could record your performance to a USB drive thought the USB A port with all the other stuff going on too!
@@demonicsweaters Thanks so much, that makes sense and I will try it this evening and report back! Awesome channel man, keep it up!!🤘🏼😝🤘🏼
Newbie here, was wondering if you can download ez drummer 3 with an iPad too?
No, but you can use GarageBand or Logic on iPad
Okay do you think those are as good?
Also, I’m guessing my iPhone won’t work instead of iPad?
@@justinsnow3979no, same thing
@@justinsnow3979EZ drummer is still better, but Logic and Garageband are both great for what they are.
Do you know if GarageBand is compatible with the Simmons sd350?
Yep!
@@demonicsweaters do you know if there are any midi mapping issues?
@@DesolateMourning I don't know, but the SD1250 mapped without issue
@@demonicsweaters thank you
@@DesolateMourning you're welcome, hope it works out!
I have an android and it'd infuriating that they don't have an app still.
It probably never will. Android just isn't great for audio or midi.
Before buying this Simmons 1250 beware because downside of this is you need to buy the kickdrum pedal seperatly this is incomplete sets..
