    Is it SBR/Cement/water for the slurry? Or is just near SBR ok. What is the ratio for the slurry please. Any help appreciated.

    • @GreentopLandscapes
      @GreentopLandscapes  4 роки тому +2

      Hi James, if our not sure buy some slurry mix but you can mix some sbr with neat cement and may be a little sharp sand and water to a creamy consistency so its sticks to the back of the slab, this is why its best to buy it if your not sure mat, sme just use SBR, stay safe matee

    I wondered if you'd be kind enough to advise if I could lay Indian Sandstone on top of an old, stable existing concrete path...If I laid the slabs on it with just a mortar layer?(and SBR slurry to the slabs too) If so, and not going out too wide (around 1.5m) Could I just start my bed higher at the house edge (keeping under DPC) and reduce the mortar thickness as I work outwards to create a fall? Any advice is gratefully received! :)

Because of the texture of each slab, sometimes there can be a difference of three or four mm on the surcace of the slab therefore its difficult to know where to place the spirit level. Hi johnyboy, I'm after some more professional advice if you could help me out buddy.
    So me and my friend have laid 20m2 of honed raj 600x900 sandstone pavers.
    I hit bad ground (Solid clay) so I took out 250mm and back filled with type 1 mot before laying on a full bed.
    I went with the Azpects mushroom jointing compound to allow the water to get away through the joints.
    My question is after all that hard ground work my pavers are so porous I have decided they need sealing.
    If I seal the slabs and joints will the joints not allow water through as the extra depth will seem pointless?
    Or if the joints won't allow water through can I just sponge on the sealer paver by paver avoiding sealing the joints??
    I would like to say thanks again for your in depth easy to understand videos and I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions.

      Hi Micheal, that’s a great question, my concealed are that you still have clay underneath and the infiltration rates if the water will always be a slight problem with a grout that is porous and if your using a sealer you need to know if your sealer is compatible with the Easygrout so I think you should be asking the companies if the products your going to use my freind.

      @@GreentopLandscapes Hi Johnyboy, thanks for the quick reply and your time.
      Like I said I have layed 600x900 pavers so I only have 32 to seal without too many joints.
      I think I will do 2 coats with a sponge paver by paver avoiding the joints as much as possible and see what reaction the pavers in heavy downpours.
      Maybe give a 3rd coat in the Autumn over the joints also if required depending on what happens.
      Thanks again for your time I really appreciate it, take care buddy.

    Whats a lean mix?

    • @GreentopLandscapes
      @GreentopLandscapes  2 роки тому

      Lean concrete provides a uniform surface to the foundation surface and prevent direct contact of the foundation concrete with the soil.
      Lean concrete is used under the foundation.
      It forms a solid concrete bed where the placing of steel reinforcement is easily done for the foundation works.
      It prevents the direct contact of foundation concrete from the soil.
      It provides the protection of the main foundation from the soil below, because moisture or other chemicals in the soil such as sulfates can attack the concrete and weaken it.
      Lean concrete is a mixture where the amount of cement used is less than the amount of liquid present in the strata.Lean concrete is that concrete which has high aggregates to cement ratio.
      In technical terms ,if the cement content of the mix falls out to be lesser than 10 percent than the mix is called as lean concrete mix.
      The higher the aggregate / cement ratio, the more the concrete bends. In lean solids, less amount of paste is available to provide smoothness, aggregates per unit surface and therefore mobility of aggregates is restricted.
