Well photographed video. My only ride on the Port Jeff branch was in warmer weather. Wish it had been cold with snow!! The diesel hauled train ran nonstop Huntington to Jamaica at about 80mph!! 😀😀💙
Back in the day (1960s) you didn't want to get caught with the gates going up and down as the LIRR set up the trains for the next morning commute. Just to the west of Main St, and along the tracks there was a big lace mill with a steam whistle for starting work, lunch, etc.
Another well photographed and informative video. Always appreciated. Port Jefferson station building is superb, closely followed by St James and Stony Brook.
Very nice video ! The snow certainly changes the perspective of everything . We even received a couple of inches of snow down here in MS approx. 2 weeks ago. On another note, I just finished watching your Conrail in Pennsylvania 1995 video yesterday. It was very enjoyable!

When I used to live in NY, I used to catch the train out of Huntington all the time.

Great catches!
Awesome!
Why was there a siren going off
Ambulance call I guess
@@3985uprr oh because it sounded like a tornado 🌪️ siren
Sounds like there was an air raid siren in the beginning of the video. Lolz!
Kings Park FD's STH-10 Siren. Sounded for a fire call.
Siren buffs as well as diesel horn buffs. I recorded that longer to get the siren to satisfy the siren buffs
@@3985uprr Thanks for the responses! I was getting ready to hunker down for an impending attack from the Luftwaffe. Lolz!
Nice spotting as always!
Tim, do you narrate this 'on the fly' as in realtime from notes, or do it in post production? You do an incredible job.
No notes. Live.
