Back to the future on the Montauk Branch east of Babylon. 2/27/23

- On the first day of the new full service to Grand Central, we witness big changes to the diesel operation on the Montauk Branch. We catch numerous first runs of these trains with their new 2 digit train numbers reminiscent of practices on this branch many years ago. On the surface these look like any ordinary diesel train, but behind the scenes it’s a whole new ballgame. There have been many schedule revisions, as well as new and revived trains.

I watched a movie called back to the future before!
Thank you tim!
So cool to see double digit train numbers!!!
One day, I'm going to ride all the way out to Montauk and see what I've been missing for the past 54 years. Thanks for the trains!
Neat place. Town is a little bit of a walk from station
nice touch showing the signal change great work
There's Montauk trains that makes Main Line stops. 37 from Speonk to Long Island City stops at Hicksville and Mineola, 7 from Montauk to Long Island City stops at Hicksville and Mineola 76 from Jamaica to Patchogue stops at Hillside, Mineola and Hicksville and train 80 from Long Island City to Patchogue stops at Mineola and Hicksville!
Been a log time complaint that the East End was largely inaccessible from the central Nassau
@@smacwhinnie I know, right?
Great show! There must be a large demand for service out East. My grandmother used to travel from Bayside to Port Washington 5 days a week in the 60's and 70's. I used to drive her and pick her up at Bell Boulevard, Bayside Station, down in the trench. All of those trains must have been recycled long ago. Your work brings back good memories. Thanks!
Great video sir!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW!
Great back to the future video. Thanks Tim😀💚
this new Montauk schedule makes me want to think back to Pre MTA days.....
all we need is a C Liner or a C420 leading a train

Hey tim! i had stopped by here on my trip to LI. Was pretty cool! the only 5 chimer was an LL but at least i got smth! missed ya by a few days (i went to brentwood rd)
Well, well well the old Islip station, they fenced in the last of the old station and the PathMark is loooooong gone.
Sweeeeeeeet
How far east does the double track go before it becomes a single track?
“Y” east of Sayville
does Meatball Man do 664.? i feel like i just heard his famous horn blowing going thru Smithtown, St James, and Flowerfield......
I don’t know what he’s doing. What he normally does is when he comes to a stop, he will sound the horn once. Listen for that
@@3985uprr okay.!
good job ,like
Do they still run the Cannonball?
In summer
Not to try and hurt your feelings but I don't care about how the horns sound.
I don’t expect everyone to feel the way I do about that.
What's so rotton about cab cars?
horns sound like nails on a chalkboard and are absolutely deafening. other than that, these ain't bad cab cars.
NJ Transit's cab cars are what we need.!
@@evangouldtransit Cabcars originally had Leslie RS2M's but removed them due to problems with button solenoids. With that, now they run Nathan K13b's
If I closed my eyes and listened to those cab car horns, I could imagine that they are SEPTA Silverliner IV cars from Philadelphia! (Writing this at Wayne Junction)
@@evangouldtransit i believe there is no noise protection in the cab so the horn is extremely loud. thats part of the reason why they honk so shortly
