Rachel and Christopher you both are fabulous inside and out ! Love your style Christopher! My guy said he wants to emulate you ! keep up the great work!!!!
I love your videos. Your enthusiasm about the dolls is so awesome. Im learning to paint reborn dolls. I recently purchased my first 19th-century German girl. I absolutely love her. I would not have known what to do with her if you had not made your videos. Thank you so much.
I have been decompressing from all of social media for quite some time. Now i have decided to only watch my absolute favourite channels, which has gine done to a few. I LOVED watching you both go through all of these amazing dolls. Ive said it before, but it's because of you Rachel that i worked up the courage to restore antique dolls. Well several weeks ago i rescued this lovely doll from a lady who is in her late 80s. She only had sons and her sons children had no desire to yske her sweet "Bonnie" she had a missing hand and half a foot was missing, no clothes and very sparce mohair left for hair. When i picked her up i initially thought she was a composition, mix with a bisque head and soft body. Boy was i wrong. Bonnie is a Papier Mache doll and a very primitive one. I asked the lady if she'd give me some info and she told me that her great-grandmother gave her the doll. I had to add some stuffung to her body, reinforce the stitching, patch a couple of tiny holes. I couldn't believe what she was stuffed with. Horse hair, wiid shavings, bits of fabric and grains (not sure what kind). I tried to make a mixture of papier mache so i coukd mould her hand and foot but it was so hard. In the end i mixed in some epoxy so it would dry and i tinted it with pigment to match her skin. I then made her a wig that included her old mohair. Her eyelashes loked like a really hard paper but were worn right down, so i left them and just put false lashes on her. They can be removed. I made her an outfit of pantaloons, petticoat, shirt, chemise, tunic and a coat, all from antique/vintage materials. I had antique lace socks and shoes that fit her. I sent the lady a photo of bonnie finished and she said she was crying because if i hadn't paid the princely sum of $10 for her, ahe was going in the bin. Thankyou Rachel, Linda and Christopher for all of your encouragement. It means so much. I love my dolls, every single impect beauty ❤❤
Hi Rachel and Christopher. I was excited to see this charming collection of antique dolls. I was very intrigued by the paper mache dolls. I loved Christopher’s pick and the little girl in the prairie dress is adorable. ❤ I saw a post on Facebook today from a friend that showed a picture of two bins of old dolls. They were labelled “May be haunted” and “probably not haunted”. Commenters were laughing. I decided to share a picture of my beautiful antique dolls and said, “As a doll collector and lover of dolls, I like to imagine who the child was that played with these dolls before they were rescued by me.” This was not in a doll group but I felt compelled to share another perspective of dolls to those who “don’t get it”. It felt good to stand up for the dolls! 🥰
How exciting to see a lovely collection of vintage dolls !! Fell in LOVE with the tin walker doll with the pink dress. Need to fly to Colorado asap to meet you, Christopher and get that doll !! ❤❤❤ Thank you for a very fun video today ! 😊
Such beautiful, amazing dolls! I love all of them! ❤ Christopher talked about the feel of the doll's face. Probably, the grainy feel texture is the quality of clay. The porcelain kaolin clay is smoother. Of course, your husband Rachel, since he is a potter, could probably relate to the bisque clay textures. Such a beautiful groom, and all the dolls are just amazing. I was watching a video about antique dolls recently and love learning. I was wondering about the ones with wooden hands with the curls, I think you said they're papermache? But I thought maybe the head was carved from wood? The Belton one reminds me of Mozart. I read a book quite awhile ago about German Meissan porcelain and how the man who developed the kaolin was an alchemist, and I think it saved his life because the German king wanted him to produce gold. The meissan life size animals made of porcelain are amazing. I was listening how some antique dolls were character dolls that were originally figurines with personality. The bonnet heads may have been made from figurine molds? Anyway, there is a lot of clay history. I am a potter, too, and have made figurative sculptures. Maybe someday I will design a doll. Such beautiful big ones and the one that was from 1901 for Christmas. My dad was born in 1897. He was my age now when I was born. I am 63 now. He was around my mom's parent's age and my step grandparent's age. Amazing how time goes by. Love the mini steiff and miniature dolls.
This video made me cry so much. I wish my grandmother was still here to comment. I sent y'all an email just now about her collection. Hope to be able to sell and meet y'all sometime soon. I need her dolls to be loved like this.
Good Morning Rachel and Christopher, Watching from Ohio here, loving the video. I am the only doll collector I know so I never get to sit and share them with someone. Would love to visit the store sometime.
I made a painted material doll. I got the pattern out of a magazine. Yes the pre- printed doll is lovely! I have a collection of black dolls made out of material. O wow little fingers! The little dresser doll is very interesting. Eggshell doll, I have to say I've never seen or thought about it! Cute overhauls on the pen dolls. Yes you were lucky that the dolls are basically in good condition for their age. Thanks for sharing this amazing collection
Rachel and Christopher, I really LOVED watching this fun antique Doll video with so many different materials and styles😃😃💯💯💯💯💯!!! It is impossible for me to pick just one favorite so I will tell you all that I so LOVED and it is hard to pick favorites because they are all so much fun and many so adorable!!! My favorites of the cloth dolls are the African American cloth Doll couple❤❤ and the Bunny Doll 🐰❤❤!!!! And of the Clothes Pin Dolls I LOVED the Schenhut cute and whimsical Doll that looked like she could be made into a puppet Doll with her cute eyes and blonde yarn hair💛💛💛 !!! Being that I am a huge fan of Little House on the Prairie and I LOVE Holly Hobbie Dolls, I so LOVE that paper mache Doll with her Prairie Dress and bonnet❤❤❤!! I so LOVE the Ethnic Doll with her blonde braids, blue eyes, and blue dress with lace💙💙💙!! I so agree with Christopher that the Kestner Groom Doll is so super cute with his deep brown eyes❤❤❤ and I also LOVE the Kestner Bride Doll, but I prefer the Kestner Boy Groom Doll💯💯💯💯💯!! I Also so LOVE the Doll in her deep green dress with hat💚💚💚, I so LOVE the deep blue eyes on the tin Doll head💙💙💙, and I agree with Christopher that the Doll with the stocking cap, pink dress that is a walker Doll is so super adorable that I too LOVE her❤❤❤!!! And the Doll in the stunningly gorgeous red gown of antique silk, even though it has sadly the front of the dress has melted, she is so beautiful and I so LOVE her hat and her craved arm pits which really show her beauty❤❤❤❤❤!!! And I so LOVE the Belton Doll with the tight blonde curls and he has such a sweet lovable face too🤗🤗❤❤❤❤!!! And I so LOVE the large Doll in her blue outer dress with her pearl button bow on her white blouse, mohair thick eyelashes, and her beautiful eyelet designs on her underskirt, she is a beautiful "standard play doll"💙💙💙💙💙!!! And I so LOVE the purple gingham dress and the bonnet on the 1901 Doll that was received as a Christmas Present from her Aunt Ava, making that doll even sweeter🤗🤗💜💜💜💜💜!!!!! And I so agree with you Rachel of all the miniatures, my favorite is the miniature🧸 Steiff Teddy Bear🧸 with his white pin still in his ear, making him an earlier🧸 Steiff Teddy Bear🧸❤❤❤❤❤💯💯💯💯💯!!!! Thank you Rachel and Christopher for sharing these fun, cute, and beautiful antique Dolls with us in this video😃😃❤❤❤❤❤❤❤!!!! And I would so LOVE to see a video of both Yourself, Rachel and Christopher restoring these beautiful antique dolls that need some love🤗🤗!!!!!
Love the videos that concentrate on antique dolls! The little paper Mâché gent sewn on the card next to the tiny Steiff bear is a Palmer Cox Brownie. I believe this character with a monocle is known as “The Dude.” Wonderful and whimsical!
Рэйчел, спасибо за видео❤очень нравятся куклы из текстиля, они такие теплые,. Их выцветшие лица поекрасны🎉У вас прекрасная коллекция❤маленький медвежонок Штайфф просто прелесть😊
Watching you from Spain - I have enjoyed a lot this video, what an awesome antique dolls collection!! Thank you Rachel and Christopher for sharing this with us! My favorite one was the egg-faced doll; it is incredible that she endured so many years being so delicate and fragile!! Amazing!
This was amazing, Rachel, thank you! ps: you may have already figured it out, but that note for the first doll you showed said from “vicinity of Keene, NH”. New England in the house! Love it! ❤😊
This was such a cool odyssey. I'm obsessed with the mouse (or rabbit) with a dress, I love mice/rats with floppy ears in dresses and pinafores- probably biased because of my life sized long limbed cloth mouse I dragged around as a child. An artist made large clothed mice on doll stands for Meow Wolf's original gift shop when they first opened that I'm trying to track down, even wrote to them. P.S. I'm so glad you both came close to appreciating crazing, a feature I look for and think is so incredibly pretty in composition dolls.
hi guys what a wonderful video lots of great dolls , christopher rockin that frockabilly look , how kind to send the antique dolls to that little boy in ireland good on you for making a smile in a world sometimes full of frowns ,,,and the last two dolls are just cute as i love the dark haired bisques so charming take care both of you all my love
Thanks to you and Christopher for allowing us to hang out on the floor with you and those wonderful dolls! So amazed by the variety of dollmaking substrates, and of course the fabulously detailed clothing! Joining you from Harlem NYC, and thinking of trying my hand a making a Waldorf-inspired doll just as a means to RELAX from the times we're living through. Thanks again! 🌻
The blonde doll with the wonderful blue dress and hat reminds me of the French Fashion dolls (bustle included). I recognized the Steiff bear immediately. My Mom had one as a child I believe, and lost it along the way, so before she died, I bought one with a growler I could never get to work. I loved it too. My sister wanted it to go with her to cremation and when she was out of sight I snatched it away!! That Steiff was precious to my Mom and me. I don't think she would have wanted it burned up. She had a wonderful collection that I and my other sisters are blessed to have a part of, as I have previously mentioned. So fun to see this lovely collection now incorporated into your doll home thank you ❤

I am not a collector but I do buy older dolls from thrift shops. I try to discover the origin or history of these dolls. I have 1 thatvis very interesting to me but I can't find any dolls on line from this collection.
Just restored a wax doll same as with the bump. She had a wig and a bonnet. Think lump was for the bonnet to help fill it and hold it. Mine was missing alot of her wax off chin and shoulders. Also had to rebuild her shoulder plate. Thanks for the show.
The doll bustle isn't made like the ones for real people. The ones for real ladies were in fact made so that they'd collapse when sat on and then resume their form when the wearer got up. First wax lady is very beautiful. I wonder if the crown on the second one was for shaping a pompadour hairstyle (yup, you guys figured it out. Neat!). That's not a 'scrap doll' It's a folk doll from Madeira, they were made for tourists in the 19th and early 20th centuries, that example is in played with condition though. Google them, they have a very distinct look about them. I love your videos btw💖

SO glad to finally see some antique dolls!!
The modern dolls and the modern doll content is what pays for the antique dolls and the antique doll content.
I am inclined to agree with Diane regarding old antigue dolls are so fun to view.❤

She's cute the painted doll, I like her. I do like antique dolls. I would love to see your shop! I like all kinds of dollls!dolls!!

Ty… great show.👍🏻😊💟
Christopher showing wooden "Grandpa" and I see a blonde next to him -I believe those are from "the Pinn Family" -very collectible.
It would be fun to create kits from, for example, the old bunny so that we can create these charming characters for our childs, like Holland Diane, today.
Fantastico

Not global, just from Indy. My favorite is the little wooden doll, I also liked the wooden peg dolls at the end.
Cloth scrap doll is actually an ethnic doll in folk costume while wood doll with spit curls is probably a House of Seven Gables doll.
At the end, I saw the little man in a top hat. Is he for sale? I would love to purchase him 😊
When I saw the first doll I thought: and today we have Na! Na! Na! Surprise dolls. Again cloth dolls. History is beeing repeated.
Are your beautiful dolls no longer listed on eBay?
The doll bustle isn't made like the ones for real people. The ones for real ladies were in fact made so that they'd collapse when sat on and then resume their form when the wearer got up.
First wax lady is very beautiful. I wonder if the crown on the second one was for shaping a pompadour hairstyle (yup, you guys figured it out. Neat!). I think my favourite doll in the video is the tin headed walker child.
I love china heads too. I have since I was a little girl watching Little House on The Prairie. I have a tiny vintage reproduction one that I couldn't let go of.
I miss the vintage and antique dolls that I had, but as I am solitary I gave them all away so that they wouldn't be thrown into the dump when I die.
The older porcelain dolls are also smoother because they were just made from higher quality slip. Modern artist porcelain BJDs are also very smooth.
I'm watching from Northcentral Alberta Canada.
Bump on wax head doll was to support a high hair coiffure!
That's not a 'scrap doll' It's a folk doll from Madeira, they were made for tourists in the 19th and early 20th centuries, that example is in played with condition though. Google them, they have a very distinct look about them. I love your videos btw💖
hello Rachel! i was just curious … if u have any stories of your dolls being haunted or mysterious things that’s happened in your store??
None at all.
That's a really nice and fun collection. The new owners will truly love those. Glad the husband ensured they went to a fantastic place because we all know you and Christopher will ensure they go to good homes.
A friend of mine gifted me some barbies and clothing she got on a FB free trade group. I sobbed happy tears because I never receive gifts and to get a gift and have it be something I adore brought me so much joy. Dolls really do bring me joy. Being bedridden for the past 5 years now gives me something to do besides mourn my life.
Good luck
Ok so, I absolutely LOVE my dolls, but I can't help feeling that these dolls are the ones that give our hobby the "creepy" vibe 😂... no offence 🙃 My Nan had some old dolls, probably composition thinking about it now, in her back room that apparently belonged to her or my mother and as a child they creeped me out 😂... just not my thing these ones. AK❤:)
I have a unique doll that I have idea of exactly what it is. I have not been able to find anything like it. I have pictures if you could take a look.
Serious?
Absolutely. We are very serious about dolls here.
Sorry to complain but so out of focus.😢
What part? It does take the camera a second to focus, especially on the small things, but this video is not out of focus.
