God doesn't always answer all my prayers, but last year, when I was going through a cancer scare, God took care of me. I still pray that he takes care of me and the growth doesn't return. I was also in a major car accident several decades ago that has left me in chronic pain. While my prayers for a full recovery weren't answered, God did take care of me. I was able to walk even though the accident may have killed me. Also, even though I couldn't work again, God has made sure that I was taken care of financially and that I didn't live in poverty. I will always trust in God that he will take care of me even if that means not getting everything thing I want.
So many of the Saints had physical conditions and pain throughout their lives...read about Mother Angelica...I am sure she is a saint...she has just not been canonized...I wish you the very best
Offer up everything to him in reparation and for others, God loves selflessness!
Why do you think god had anything to do with it? Why isn't his intervention in our lives a violation of free will? Why did he let you get in a car accident that led to chronic pain if he helped you with your cancer scare? Did god personally send you a check or did another human send it to you? Why do you conclude any of these average, ordinary events are god and not random chance in life?

Is simple, written in Lord's prayer, On Earth as it is in Heaven, ..the pursuit of excellence , think of an Italian garden, is it earthly or heavenly , its almost a bit of both , heaven and Earth held in balance . Heaven on Earth isn't something that can be bought on Amazon, it is also honesty, fairness, forgiveness, compassion , justice, generosity , personally speaking I find a bit of heaven in the professionalism of others , people that have pride in their work, that is Heaven.
God has answered ALL my prayers. He doesn't hesitate to say "no" when it's warranted, that's all. "No" is still an answer.....
I went to my Catholic grade school and was taught by nuns and when asked why God doesn’t answer our prayers and sister bertina responded “God does answer your prayers, sometimes the answer is “no” “.
No, God doesn't answer all our prayers but I did learn it is for a reason. A couple of years ago i went through a period where i was really sick. I prayed multiple times a time asking why and to please help me. That trial was to bring me closer to God. Now, ive been sicker than ive ever been and have asked God why he abandon me. I knew God wouldn't abandon ever. I dont know why im this sick but im at peace and continue to read my Bible and pray

If he can answer at any time and in any way, how do you know he answered at all? How do you know you are not just drawing your own connections between your prayer and some eventual "happening" that you assigned meaning to?

@@kozykarma7471You can't, it is not scientific since it is not falsifiable. This doesn't mean it isn't true. God goes way beyond our knowledge and our capacity to understand: the finite can't understand the infinite. This is why we have Faith: we can't comprehend, but we can trust in Him

At a recent study, people mentioned the functionality of light switches as another kind of faith. I understood the point, but they didn't realize that faith in light switches is testable, observable, explainable and predictable, but faith in the christian god is not.
How can you believe anything about him if you are incapable of understanding?
I needed to hear this today. I'm crying as I write this. I know God hears me and I also know that he alone is the one who can heal my son should it be his will. I have been praying for years and today I watched this show, trying to find an answer as to why it is taking so long. To hear from Fr. Mike that God loves him more than I (which I already knew, but needed to hear again), means so much to me. I am afraid to lose my son. Heavenly Father, please turn his life around, in Jesus' name.

I grew up in a Narcissistic Family that programmed in me that asking for personal needs is SELFISH. I was never allowed to ask. Just received what was available and given. Its hard growing up with this mindset. Adulting is So hard. But Im out from my Narc Family System. Im healing. Thank God. Pray for me. Thank you
I grew up Catholic but I also don't ever remember being taught to ask God for anything for myself personally.
I remember always being asked to be grateful for the little things I had since I live in a city next to Mexico aka third world country and from this proximity to that country I could witness first hand what EXTREME poverty is.
Made it worse that I myself didn't grow up rich or even middle class for that matter and this always made me feel like I was unworthy to ask for more than what I had.
As an adult I still have problems asking God for personal things due to all this I have in my mind.
I think I am selfish and or undeserving of asking for things like personal help, better job opportunities and more so financial blessings.
Please pray for me as well 🙏🙏
Everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms on account of My name, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.
Amen!!! As I was recently diagnosed with cancer, the fear of the treatments, the surgeries, and the future, brought so much doubt to my mind! Then one day God reminded me to surrender all to him! Although my prayer of it not being cancer was not answered, God has blessed me throughout all this! I am learning so much of Him, of His love for me, I am learning so much of me, so much of my faith! So I thank you Lord for never leaving my side! As I sit here going through my first round of chemo, once again you show me that you hear me, and you stand next to me! Maybe it’s not a smooth journey, but you give me the courage Lord! Prayers for everyone!

Fr. Mike just described me about 7 times in that video, except I was the timid child too afraid to ask my parents for anything. I was always considered the child that would become a priest because of my faith as a child, yet I was always afraid to even say the name Jesus in my prayers. Now that I’ve grown in my spiritual maturity I’m just now realizing how small and weak my faith life was that reflected so accurately my own timidness brought on by being so afraid to talk that I would say the wrong thing.
It is inconceivable that a caring and loving, all powerful god would let thousands of innocent children around the world suffer and die from starvation and war every day. Either there is no god, or he doesn’t care , or he isn’t all powerful. If there is god, It is a waste of time to pray except if it makes you feel better that you did something.
I asked God for two important things in my life; they were really important to me I sacrificed a lot to got them. But none of my prayers were answered. Even I can't see any kind of hope rather things are becoming more worse. I dread to not bing heard of prayers anymore and deprived something important to me throughout my life.
I let God run my life. It took alot to figure this out.
When I pray novenas I ask the saints to beg God for the necessities in my life and I get angry when I read the miracles of people receiving stuff from God and I get angry. But I know God hears me but the will of his is better than mines but I never ask for anything bad I just want my life to be okay. But like Jesus prayed to his father “ not my will father, but yours.”

I pray for my Dad's successful surgery. He had his foot amputated today due to diabetes complications. I'm so overwhelmed and worried right now, but I trust you Lord to comfort us in this difficult time.
Why would you trust god to comfort you or to change the outcome when he put you in this position in the first place?
We fear of losing our home for 20 years this year. I don't know what to do.

Me too. I don't want to be a dark cloud, but perhaps this may be a cross we are called to bear? After all Jesus did say we should pick up our cross and follow Him. But He also did say where 2 or more are united in His name, He will be there too. Perhaps if we pray for each other to find a good spouse, we may be granted our requests. I feel your pain.

I have to say - I liked the use of the term "a crisis moment in prayer." It's not a crisis of *faith* for me. But the desperation. Feeling unheard. Devastated. Yes - a prayer crisis. Almost only in my prayer life for myself. I do recognize and believe that God loves those I pray for way more than I do. But when I'm praying for myself, it's more difficult to imagine he could love me, even more than I do though my love for myself is terribly small. And yet, glory to God alone. And all thanks be to Him for his grace and goodness. Whatever blessings I'm able to count in my life are far more than I deserve.
I have learned that God answers prayers in HIS way in HIs time. It may not be the way we had hoped, but it's for our greater good.

I use to ONLY pray when I needed something. I abandoned my faith but now that I’m returning to it I’ve been making more poetic style prayers to just praise God for all he has done for me. I ask for him to help me improve of course, but just taking time and giving him some respect feels more like a relationship.
I'm glad you made this video. I am a newly Catholic and struggling with learning how to pray. I feel like my words are never as they should be so I am very guilty of the casual prayer.
I have been Catholic my whole life and have felt you do now, at different times. But when I relax and listen to God, those feelings go away.
But, how do I know what he’s saying back? I do not hear anything. 😕

Father Mike I am currently going through the rcia program. If I could ask for your prayers that this will be successful and I will finish on time it would be most appreciated. You should do your own research outside of class before joining, including reading the entire bible with your thinking hat on. Especially if your class is not very intense. I have taken multiple RCIA classes, and they were disservices to the students.

@@eduardohoover2127 Classes were very low energy. The teachers were not very knowledgeable. They could recite some verses, but lacked real understanding and historical knowledge. They covered basic beliefs, but did not engage in substantial discussions. There was no bible reading in class and no requirement to read the bible or demonstrate basic understanding of the religion before joining the church. "Miraculous" things like appearances of Mary and hosts generating heart tissue and blood (red mold) when soaked in water got extra attention. Students were not engaged.
It was a disservice to the students because they were passed through without understanding what they were professing faith in. It was a disservice to the church because their new members didn't fundamentally understand their beliefs, didn't know the bible, and will not be able to defend their faith in the future.
I have thought of this some time when I was praying. I spontaneously asked "If I love them [my family] this much, and You - God - is Love and is the source of love, then you must love them a hundred or even a thousand times more than I do. And if I am hurt just by seeing them undergoing through this situation, then I can only imagine the hurt that you are feeling right now because you love them more than I do. And so I surrender to you in this prayer knowing that you love them more and that you know what is best for them because You are our Father. Let your will be done Father, I surrender them and my heart to You in love". When I say this in prayer, it gives me relief knowing that this is now a battle that I do not fight alone.
I just pray to give me the strength to get through whatever i have to face & yes we all need to Thank Him everyday we open our eyes 💙✝️🙏🏼
God hears our prayers , but when God doesn't answer our prayers , it's not his will and it's not in God's plan.
I needed to hear this today. A family member is in jail... I begged and prayed repeatedly and desperately to God for my family member not to be arrested, and God didn't answer my prayer. It's so hard to trust!!
I struggle with PTSD, GAD, Self-harming, and more due to past trauma. My own dad doesn't believe my abuse is real. I've prayed many times asking why couldn't God give me a dad who believes me?! It's so hard to trust God when my prayers aren't answered.
I'm doing my best to pray daily to Jesus through Mary to help me to trust Him. It is so, so, so hard. Please pray for myself and my family. Thank you.

How do you know he didn't answer? Maybe he did answer, but not in the way you hoped. Maybe he wills for your family member to be in jail. How would you tell the difference? That's the fun part about the prayer game. You can pick the "answer" you like best.

It’s hard to be patient. But everything will happen in Gods time. Never give up on praying to God. Pray for that person but also their family,doctor etc ask for a sign but don’t give up 🙏

I know many people that don’t even believe in God yet are prosperous, and those that do believe are suffering. Prayer seems to be very subjective.

You are a gifted speaker. I have left a lot of comments since discovering your videos this Easter. A lot of angry comments over the homosexual issue. But I've been watching the other videos also. You aren't as dismissive or prejudiced as other Catholic podcasters. You are doing a good job. You are projecting a masculine, youthful, compassionate, relatable image of the church and of the priesthood. In effect, I think you are an asset to the church. I don't agree with everything you say, by far. But you are doing a good job.

You know that feeling when you receive a STRONG impression NOT to do said thing (whatever it is you're praying for)? Yeah.. It's kind of disappointing in the moment, but RELIEF is knowing I'm trying to follow the Lord's will for my life, even if it isn't always what I want.. This is why I think the most important thing with God is to practice daily relationship. Prayer feels weird when you don’t spend anytime with Him. Time spent with God for me is time spent in deep silence, awaiting his presence. Takes discipline and desire.

Sometimes it is hard to accept this because of how painful it can be in the moment and because out perspective is so limited in comparison to the Father's, but it is still true and acceptance and right praise is something to be mindful of. That in the end, God is always a Good Dad.

God never punishes nobody it’ll go away or it’ll get better or it gets worse that’s just life individually that’s all you could do is pray, and understand and wish for the best.

Arthritis wouldn't exist if god didn't make it part of life and being human. Also, the bible is loaded with references of god punishing people. What exactly would you be praying for?
I prayer to jesus and through him god. I give him all glory and honor. All things in there right place, god knows all things and every thought.
When you said trust in god, your right father. Its trusting in god and keeping our faith in god and the design he has for all things.

God doesn't always answer all our prayers, only the ones we need. He knows what's best for us and will provide accordingly. The catch is just that what we want isn't always what we need.
