Its time to get ready for summer. I really want to get shredded. I am training almost every day as hard as I can. I got meal plan from Next Level Diet. I hope I will get to my goal before summer. Wish me luck
Love it Ross. More of this! 5:21 25K Z2 is solid and more impressive that you didn’t appear all that expended from the effort. Stroke looking really nice. Continued to be amazed at your aerobic capacity carrying so much muscle mass (even though I know it’s very grim for you). Much love brother
@@Jk_outdoors_ Ross has been on the show (right after his Great British Swim) - it's not on YT however because it's audio only - you can find it here: www.richroll.com/podcast/ross-edgley-408/
I did enjoy this. A lot. I know swimming 25 or 30km (on top of all the other training) is pretty casual for you, but it still blows my mind everytime I see you doing it and talking about it like it's nothing!
The man the myth and the legend is back.... to make us all feel inferior 😉 keep up the great work Ross always find my self very motivated after one of your vidz 💪💪💪👍
Ross, I’m a runner that hasn’t done any anaerobic sessions in a long time (Lot of easy running) but today I went out and smashed a hill session inspired from watching this video so thanks for that 🙏🏼 PS we NEED more videos brother, this channel could absolutely blow up with the support we would all give you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Seriously bro, don’t worry about waffling on about sports science. We need more of that! I’m sitting here with a notepad writing down principles and rewinding to make sure I’m hearing things right. You’re killing it bro!
Putting aside all the natty or not thoughts, the pace he swims at is near pro level Ironman. I just can't understand how it is possible with that much mass. Much respect.
I've missed my Ross videos. A true legend. I'm a simple man, I see a Ross video, I like and comment for the UA-cam algorithm. Hopefully helps with more ad revenue
Amazing pace. For pool swimmers, that set would be 250 x 100m on 1:28. What! What fantastic motivation to see what an elite athletes can do. Thanks so much for sharing Ross. If I may, can you try to get more swimming footage in your videos? I know that’s tough when filming alone or not being near shore. Cheers.
I struggle to think of a single person with more positive energy than you, Ross. How was it Eddie Hall described you? 'The replication of a Labrador that's found a stash of cocaine, swallowed it all, had a Red Bull, and the result is Ross Edgley.' Spot on haha.
How in Gods name were you doing weighted pullups and rope climbs after swimming 25km! You are more than a Beast! Thanks for taking us behind the scenes into your training. Awesome!
love that ! Its just always such an inspiration and motivation seeing you play around with different training and nutrition. Actually I always make plans for my own training while I am watching your content or reading the books. So thank you Ross :)
Ross you’re my wallpaper🤩as a BS in human performance/psychology, you’re my biggest role model. Currently training for a marathon and using your 20 week plan from TWFB while tossing weights around 5-6x a week! Gotta do me some anaerobic swimming for my surf training too 🔥
Bravo on giving to the flood victims. It's been truly horrific. And LOVE your videos. I may or may not have been eating a croissant as I watched it, but I'm definitely going out for a run now! Can't wait to see the next project - swim to NZ? East Coast of Oz (yikes to the sharks, crocs and killer jellies)? Keep smiling while you're grinding!
Ross.... don't know if you read these but you're a legend, absolute inspiration and seem like an all round decent dude. I've always felt like I've seen you in something years ago but could never remember... until now. No idea why it came to me all of a sudden, but an LA muscle add (think you were swimming) with music with the lyrics 'Sexy Body' playing 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway...... thumbs up bro 👍🏻👍🏻🤙🏻
You always blow my mind with what your capable of ! Would you have any tips on recovering from an Achilles injury? I’ve been dealing with it for 2 years now and it started from running and I’ve done everything you can think of except surgery. I really need it sorted as I plan on going into the army and dont want it giving me grief ! Many thanks bro keep up the awesome work 💪🏻
Great to see you in watery action again Ross, it's been a long time since we threaded of the Needles off the Isle of Wight for fun! Can't wait to see what challenge you have up your sleeve this year, can't help but think it's a swimmy one. Watching with interest, Rach
I’ve recently got into zone 2 training so yes! I am enjoying this video. My one question is isn’t zone 2 mostly fat oxidization? And if so why all the carbs for training? Wouldn’t you just need fat? Anywho great to see another video. Keep it up!
How you do it, is beyond my imagination :D Thanks for sharing all of that, it is at lot to process but interesting and very helpful! Great video. In some of your post's, and in your book - Blueprint, you often talk about, recover as hard as you train! It would be so nice if you complimented that in some of your future videos, you know ice bath, sauna, and whatever you do to recover (Y) Thank you so much for such amazing content! Keep it up bro!
Excellent video Ross! And huge support for the work you're doing out there ^^ Just wondering how efficient you think your body is at firstly absorbing carbs during exercise and secondly using them
I already die if I swim just 5k ahahah. But with your new book blueprint I am planning to improve a lot. This video is gold to me because I can see how you thin, what you do, and helps me a lot in understanding more what’s behind a training session. Thanks.
Hey Ross, I’m training in triathlon and am wondering what factor size (muscle) can play in overall performance. Would you say the pros outweigh the cons or vice versa. Thanks 💪💪
For swimming, a higher bmi doesn t really inhibit performance where as the excess muscle will slow you down in running and cycling. However i must say, that doing lots of strenght training has gotten be in the best endurance shape ever, in the water and on the bike. Yes i run a bit slower but the higher strenght and muscle mass feels nice. If you r really seriously into triathlon, a sub 22bmi is necessary to be pretty fast. Since 99,9% are not pro s, you shouldn t care about the weight.
In most triathlons you r allowed to use a wetsuit which helps a LOT! Used to a comptetive swimmer for many years and putting on a wetsuit made me rely much less on „strenght“
90kg? Looking like that!!! I weigh 80kg and clearly have a hell of a lot of work to do!!!!!😂 still loving this content, your training and diet advice is really good for people, me especially.
5:21:XX in Zone 2 for 25km swim, followed by hill sprints and upper body (pull) workout? British Record of 4:59:03 for 25km swim in 2019. Spose the Garmin (or Suunito) doesn't lie....
25K open water swim world record is about 4hours 51minutes, if i am right. Ross claimed training time around 5h 21m, which seems almost unrealistic with his type of physique. If data are correct, that's another level of stamina👌
I'm an Aussie and I'd say that's while not impossible, pretty close to! Our jellyfish kill you. The least of his worries are sharks and that's saying something.
Is this realistic ? 25km in 5 hours 21 min = 321min 321:25= 12.9 = 12 min 54 sec That is an average of 1:17 min for 100m. ?????? What is your pb on 100m sprint?
I don't think you swam 25km. The world record is something like 5h2min, and you're saying you casually did it in 5h21min? I call fake. I'm not saying you're not capable of 25km, but not at that pace. For non-pros who are in good shape, it would've taken you around twice that, about 8-10 hours. Also, the daylight didn't even change before and after your swim.
Its time to get ready for summer. I really want to get shredded. I am training almost every day as hard as I can. I got meal plan from Next Level Diet. I hope I will get to my goal before summer. Wish me luck

Winning time at 2019 worlds was a 4:53 for the 25km 😳
Do you notice significant drops in strength when weight training when your weight has dropped, Ross? For example, when doing the weighted pull ups?
1.17min/100min is an insane pace for a km. But for 25... Fuck
Hey Ross! Is there not crocs or predators in these aussie waters you swim in!? Gives me anxiety mate haha!
