Due in 2 weeks and my dyslexic self was having a really hard time with the instructions. Your video is very thorough and easy to understand… THANK YOU!!!
This pump is very gentle on my sensitive breast.. I do recommend. I’m pumping 20 mil each breast after an emergency c section due to pre calampsia. My daughter was born at 34 weeks and is currently in the NICU. So my body is really early right now at producing milk so this pump has been good to me it’s pricey 200.00 plus tax in my local Walmart here in Florida but it’s so worth it because I’m pumping plenty when I’m all reality I’ve been told some women can’t get a drop with my situation.. so yes I do recommend this pump it’s convenient, clean and Compact. Very comfortable
I love how quite they have become! I just ordered this one instead of having my big bulky one (Spectra 2) when I am out and about or in the car and can’t nurse in demand.
I loved your video, thank you very much. I just would have liked to hear the sound of the engine when it starts and when changing gears. I wanted to hear if it sounded the same as mine, but even so, your video is excellent!
Dose this have a vibration with suction or is it like the old pump in style just a pull/ suction without vibration, which I prefer. Its hard to find a pump with just a pull and no vibration now 😢.
Gahhhhh the knocking. Also it seems weird that the tubing doesn't go flush. but dang this pump looks nice! Adult life lol 24 and watching pump videos. Not where I thought I would be but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I feel Like that flange shape would be super useful. I wonder if you could just but them and use them with other pumps? Hmmm.
I was hoping to be able to hear the pump in both stimulation and expression mode. It’s hard to hear it when you turn it on in the video with your voice over. Both the sound and timing of those features are quite a bit different then the medela pump n style and pump n style advanced models from previous years. I’m nursing my 3rd baby currently and just unboxed my new pump and am concerned if it’s working accurately. Do you have experience with those other mentioned pumps and their comparison to this new model? Thanks!
Check my review out! I believe I have clips of the sound without any talking in them. I’m not sure what other pumps I mentioned in this video but this would be one of the last pumps I would ever pick given a choice. There’s far better ones in my opinion!
My friend has this pump, she says that the milk is coming out while trying to pump, but the milk is not dripping into the collection bottle. Do you know what may be wrong?
That’s strange because of the style of the membrane with this pump. The milk should just be falling into the bottle. Is it spilling out of the sides of the bottle? I’d double check assembly of the parts. If everything still checks out, I’d call their customer service!
Happy to help momma! It's definitely overwhelming but there's a lot of support options. Don't be afraid to reach out and use those! If you need any help or more one-on-one talk, feel free to message me on insta anytime! I respond way quicker over there🥰
Thank you so much for your video!! It was very informative. I had heard that you don’t want to wash the tubes because water can get stuck in them and mold can grow inside. Is that true? I just got my new box and I feel like it needs to be washed lol thank you for your help!!
Yep, that's correct! Now should milk back up into the tubing you should and can absolutely clean them. Just soak them in hot soapy water and rinse as much of that out as you can. Swing them like a lasso around your head to try and get as much of that water out as possible. Run a little alcohol through the tubing to also help this. Then hang to dry - like from a cupboard handle. But straight out of the box there is no reason to clean them!(:
Hello, thank you for this helpful review. I would like to know which pump you would recommend, my insurance is offering a selection and it’s hard for me to choose. These are the options: Medela Pump In Style® with Max Flow™, Spectra 9Plus Breast Pump, Spectra S2Plus Breast Pump, Ameda Mya™ Breast Pump, Ardo Calypso Essentials Breast Pump, Lansinoh Smartpump 2.0 Deluxe, Freemie Independence Mobile Breast Pump. It’s way too many to choose from😓 I hope to hear from you soon.
My opinions through insurance are medela pump in style with maxflow, lansinoh smartpump 2.0, ameda mya joy double, motif luna and spectra s2 plus. Can you please help me choose one?
I'd recommend almost anything over this pump. The Spectra S2 would be a world better in my opinion. However I also think the Lansinoh SmartPump 2.0 and Pumpables Super Genie are the best pumps currently on the market! Runner ups to those would be the Motif Duo and Ameda Mya (:
The wall adapter has to plugged in while using it or it gets charged and we can use it without unplugging from the electricity source? I got mine today but it is not charging.
At least the one I got this year starts let down after 60 seconds not 2 minutes. But if you start producing milk before that you can easily hit the let down bottle to maximize output. It's actually a pretty good machine. The bases are nice but not necessary once you start pumping atleast half of the 5oz bottles its pretty "level" when just left to sit on their own even with the top parts still attached (of course not with the tubing still attached. But that should be detached once you are done anyways). :)
Hi.. Which would you recommend between Specra S2 and the Medela pump in style? If you recommend Medela, which is better- the new pump in style or the old pump in style. My insurance seems to coverage these, but I am just so confused. Please help me with this 😅
First I want to say I absolutely adore your videos!! The info you give on EPing is amazing and so far as helped me tons. I was wondering if you've ever heard of 'the pitcher method' when it comes to storing breastmilk? If you have do you have any experience doing it and would you say it's a efficient way to store it/save a little time outta your day?
I have heard of it! I will say the only recommendation is to be aware of is try to have the temperature of both milks as close to the same as possible. So no warm milk into refrigerated milk. Mixing temps can increase bad bacteria growth
Only if it’s broken or damaged! I’d also recommend it if you get the pump secondhand or notice a decrease in supply. Sometimes tears on membranes can be hard to spot and cause suction loss!
Can you use parts from the old school Medela advanced pump in style? Have lots of parts left over from that pump. I know you mentioned the flange but curious about other parts including the tubing.
Very informative.I can’t decide between this one or the sonata.Have you tried the Sonata? If so which one would you recommend.Pregnant with baby number 2 & have a 18 month old.I want to exclusively pump.
I have tried the Sonata! In my personal opinion and experience trying several brands of pumps, those are two of my least favorite pumps. They were both very uncomfortable, inefficient, and lacked a lot of basic features most other pumps have! If at all possible, I would pick another one. The Lansinoh SmartPump 2.0, Pumpables Super Genie, Motif Luna, or even the popular Spectra S2. If you need to pick Medela I’d look at the Freestyle Flex, it’s the least problematic out of all of them. But if it’s just between those two I would get the Sonata so you at least get additional features. I hope this helps!
Can I use my standard medela hard plastic flanges with this pump? I have multiple sets of those as well as bottles from a previous pump I had used. I dont want to have to start all over with having to buy more sets of flanges.
I’ve never owned the S1 but did try the S2. I would say if you need something portable I’d definitely lean towards Mya. I personally responded to the Mya better because it gave me a bit more suction that I needed!
Momma Alia thank you, I own the mya but I’ve herd so many great things about the spectra so I wasn’t sure If it was worth buying or if I should just stick with using the mya..I have the lansinoh pump as well.

Hey! Do you know how their customer service is. I bought a PISA this year before the new style came out and it’s terrible. I always get milk in the tubes and it’s basically a waste of my money. Wondering if they’d send me the new style?
Yes, you need to clean and sterilize all the parts except the tubing and motor. Wash with warm soapy water, rinse, air dry, and boil in water or use microwave sterilizing pouches. Whatever is easier!
The Flex! It felt better, didn’t have the obnoxious noise, and I responded better to it. They actually both have that life span so I’d get the Flex between the two!
You'll just wanna wash the pump parts (minus the tubing) in warm, soapy water. After you let them air dry you sterilize them. You can do that with a boiling pot of water, steamer bags for the microwave, a countertop sterilizer, or UV sterilizer. Any brand of pump is basically the same thing! You obviously don't do anything with the motor and the tubing does not need to be cleaned beforehand!

Yes correct. Stimulation is first for 60 seconds. Expression is the "let down" you don't need to press it if you don't find it necessary, as after 60 seconds it automatically switches for you. Also please note mamas. Stimulation is a faster, yet weaker suction mode, and expression is slower yet stronger. Please don't let this videos ending confuse you guys. The manual explains this much better.
My biggest problem is that the milk doesn't collect in the bottle but instead gets all over me. I've tried different flanges, leaning forward, changing the angles and it still just doesn't seem to collect...

With almost any pump, you either have to hold them on yourself or have a hands free bra. I loved the Bravado, PumpStrap, and Simple Wishes! Any of them have been my favorites!
