I've been in pain for over 14 years.... I was recently diagnosed with central pain sensitization syndrome and myofascial syndrome.

I have been suffering in pain for 8 years. I have had every test done. I had to have an EMG test done at Cleveland clinic in the main campus. The gos awful inhuman test showed I have CSS they prescribed Topamax. I always give a new med 30 days to see if it’s helping. It did nothing for me 😢 I also have Fibromyalgia and Syringomyalia I’m on 13 medications for pain, depression, something to help me sleep. Of course they help to a degree. What I want to know is why haven’t they been schooled for Central Sensitize syndrome? And what can be done for it.

I think pain science is definitely good to keep in the back of our minds and another piece to the incomplete puzzle we constantly strive to solve

yeah I was kinda raging about this lately, too...they taught us the BPS model right from the beginnin but when it comes to actual pain science....oh my....

I learned exactly this at physio school!

Chronic pain is better worded as persistent pain. The word chronic alone creates catastrophic thinking in the patient.
Myofascial pain syndrome is the most common manifestion of persistent pain. Dry needling is bar none the most effective tool for reversing central sensitization

I have been diagnosed with CSS after doing a 3 hour EMG test at the main campus in Cleveland. The pain is relentless constant hardly any mobility. They prescribed me Topamax. It did nothing. Why is this condition so unknown to dr’s?

@@thefarmhousewoman Central sensitization does not come up with diagnostic testing ie EMG and treating it pharmacologically does almost nothing

you can't say the brain is hypersntisized an then say maladaptive beliefs are present lmao.

@@HeyIntegrity it's not that the brain is hypersensisitized, the entire organism is hypersensitized.
There are Neuroplastic changes in the spinal cord and biological changes in the periphery

i heard of this many times but it doesnt seem like its practical nor does it work in actual cases

I am attending my last placement as an exercise physiologist where this type of discussion has been used successfully in many cases. I have seen clients at various stages- those at the beginning and just starting to understand it for themselves, and those that are well past their initial presenting chronic issues and just attending occasionally for some minor tweaks. I think the key is to be able to provide the information in a way that is easily understood by the client. Check out the Pain Revolution - they have this side of it down to a fine art.

@Sylorinnis it is patently not pseudoscience. Central sensitization is a replicable and observable phenomenon published about in all of the world's top journals.

@@StarHarvestOfficialit's pseudoscience. None have shown it repeatedly to cause pain and they can't prove there is no tissue damage, making their whole statement false.

You literally said its in the brain and its sensitized. Way to contradict yourself.
