Boy the class week before us all failed on the splitter. I actually had a firetruck for me to do my emergency stop! And yes I passed my test the 1st time, hit that splitter, test examiner said take us back to the test site. Told me I passed because I'm highly alert of other drivers. Traffic was high and I couldn't say all my signs
Helpful vid Steve, as always. I passed my Class A about 3 weeks ago, though it was on an automatic transmission vehicle. Since I already had a class B and passed that using a manual transmission vehicle, the manual part carried over to my class A where I didn't get a restriction for automatic only on my license. Now I've had a very unique situation of driving straigt trucks for the same company, and my boss is teaching me how to double clutch his 10 speed semi. The shifting is VERY different from a 6 speed straight truck, but with enough practice, I'll get it. It helps to have a patient boss who's willing to teach me over time till he can have me cover his runs once I'm comfortable enough.
Failed my CDL a road test today because of grinding gears. Yesterday i drove the same truck, zero shifting problems. Now i gotta pay a $500 retest fee, and $100 a day for extra practice to the school, after already paying extra to learn the manual class instead of the cheaper automatic class. What a fucking joke. I am seriously regretting taking manual, especially paying extra for it. I have less than a a hour of road time with the truck im supposed to be flawlessly shifting. Making me hate this industry before im even in it.
Not anymore my friend. Everything is going automatic. I hate it been driving for 18 years, but as a company driver been driving automatics for 3 years.
