Junior was so easy to understand. I too am a brand new driver. I went to school last year. I have to say my teacher was terrible & humiliated me & ridiculed me. I was successful getting the cdl. But if there were more teachers like you I would have got it way sooner. I am still learning. Thank you for the video.
I have my CDL permit and I am new to shifting and this video has helped me understand. I will be watching it over and over again until I completely got it. Thank you!
It’s crazy I graduated from EzWheels in South Amboy 2 years ago …never met Jr. personally but he’s the guy from the dvds they make you watch in class! Heard this voice for everyday for weeks smh but it was worth it!!! 💪🏾
@@thesig301 keep it in 7th gear it will keep you at 25mph to 30mph which is not over the speed limit. Once you see the speed limit is 35mph then shift to 8th.
This is probably the most informative video I’ve seen on shifting. I’m in my first week of school and we’re in the truck already! I’ve got a little bit of anxiety on when to know which gear to be in and when to down shift! Thank you so much!
I'm at school right now and this is the best demonstration I have seen. Your explanation is excellent. Thank you for this video Because I was having problems downshifting. ❤
Bro, that was an amazing explanation. I've been learning with my uncle and he's been driving for 40+ years and never told me any of this info. Learning with him has kind of been hard for me because he is old school mentality and just expects me to know it and figure it out. He doesn't view it from a greenhorn perspective lol. Im constantly asking him questions but the main thing I get out of driving with him is getting that driving experience because he owns his own truck. The mileage to what gear you should be in is the specific part im taking away from this video.
Am enjoyed with your teaching ,when start releasing the clush shed more light and the other leg on brake and another on clush when you feel like it is moving you move your foot from brake right
Phenomenal explanation man! Seriously. I learned and tested on an auto to get my CDL but I’m looking to have that restriction lifted from my license with my current company and this was helpful! Haven’t driven a manual commercial vehicle since 2019 but that was a box truck 6 speed. The 10 speed in most tractors will be new to me but I’m excited to try it out!
Helpful info, 5 or 6 Yrs ago I passed my test on a 10sp, but I havent driven one since school... Helpful info, and I was never thought about adding the speed limit to figure out the gears
This is an excellent video. I know how to drive a manual in a reg truck, but it is way different for a 10-speed. the speed limit sign and which gear is fantastic. thank you, JR.
If you are in a low gear like 1 to 5. I suggest clutch first then break softly to stop and hold both feet. If you are in a high gear 6 to 10. I suggest lay your foot on the break and press lightly to slow down and once you are about to stop press the clutch and hold both feet while you are fully stoped
AWESOME, VIDEO..AND INSTRUCTOR. / FOR MANY YEAR'S I HAVE BEEN CONSIDERING BECOMING A TRUCK DRIVER. HONESTY, IM AFRAID😂 SPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW..!! WATCHING THIS VIDEOS, IT MAKES ME WANT TO DO IT. I LOVE DRIVING..! DO YOU OR ANY ONE WHO WAS SCARE/ LIKE ME . AT SOME POINT. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE?? FOR ME..?? PLEASE THANK YOU..!!
Our instructor has us downshift to third gear and start in third gear on flat roads. On downhill turns onto the road start in 5th gear. I think I get it now. Thanks.
Thank you for this...b4 this point i thought shifting in a truck was like it is in a car...This video taught me whoah no so...In a truck you shift twice...alwayz to neutral first then to the intended gear...Thanks guys for that lesson..
Unless you're floating the gears, u dont even have to use the clutch! As long as you get the rpms where they need to be, u can shift right into the gear u need
Dude thank you for teaching me how to do the mph gear speed limit , nobody could've did that so simple that I got it on yo first explain, now imma show off and teach somebody else first chance I gt ...
I pass my CDL this month class A test with first attempt with EZ WHEELS! In the yard, they teach you how to do anything correctly. Just follow what they say and you will pass!
I was taught to do everything in 200s. When upshifting, rev to 1200rpm, clutch in, neutral, and clutch in and in gear before 1,000rpm. When down shifting, go to neutral at 800rpm, then rev to 1,000 and it slides right in
Different trucks will operate on different RPMs. The process is still the same. You gotta have a feel for your truck. I had a super ten and it wouldn’t shift two gears down if I wasn’t at 900rpm and wouldn’t shift a gear down if I wasn’t at 1000 rpm. I hope you trucking still
How can you tell which gear you need to downshift to? Do you go one by one or what if I was to slow down a little to much how would I know which gear i need to go into? If that makes any sense please help and Thank you!
EXAMPLE : Up shift: 10-15 rpm Clutch from 6 to neutral clutch to gear 7 Down shift : from 8 10 rpm - clutch in to neutral --accelerate - clutch in to 7
I like how you explain the gear to speed ratio adding the numbers that's an absolutely smart way I wish I was taught
Amazing tutorial. I am a truck driver but haven’t driven a ten speed in a couple years. Will be driving one again today. Thank you so much.
Great video way better than my instructor

Hey bro I am happy on your trucking career. I hope you earn good salary. God bless.
I got it I learned how to down shift and 35mph 3+5 is 8th gear 25mph 2+5 =7 thank you
now tell me about when the speed limit is 30 aha
@@thesig301 keep it in 7th gear it will keep you at 25mph to 30mph which is not over the speed limit. Once you see the speed limit is 35mph then shift to 8th.

I’m in cdl class now. This has been hard but this video has helped.
Did u pass?
Hello
Great video ! I start school in a week and never drove manual
very good video, and great to know about the posted speed limit as to what gear you should be in. Great job

Great Teaching!I never drove a 10 speed semi, but I feel like I can after watching your demonstration video! Thanks!

Thank you for your clear direction, the simple math makes it even easier to know what gear one should be in.
Awesome techniques video!
Thanks for sharing Victor. 👍👍👍

I really love the whole tutorial from start to finish, very well explain and this is really gon be helpful to me, well done Sir
How do you stop tho? clutch all the way in and brake?
If you are in a low gear like 1 to 5. I suggest clutch first then break softly to stop and hold both feet. If you are in a high gear 6 to 10. You are the best bratha. Do you press crutch to the bottom when double clutching?
No not all the way down for double clutching. I press a little Pass the point of contact so around half way in.

Thank you a lot man. This really works. The funny thing is that I know how to float gears but I don’t know how to double clutch

Good video!
THis tutorial helps enough for me
Great job
Do you have to use clutch to put gears in cuz all I’ve been doing is floating gears which seems easier to me then clutching in nd out
Great video!! So helpful
Quick dummy question ..if you have to come an immediate stop due to traffic can you just shift to neutral and slow down ..like a regular car
Whats if the speed limit is 40 miles per hour, what gear should your truck be in ? And how did you come up with your answer ?
keep it in 8th gear it will keep you at 35mph to 40mph which is not over the speed limit. Once you see the speed limit is 40mph then shift to 9th.
i like your formula for the speed , like 25 speed, 2+5= 7gear , then 35 , means 3+5=8gear amazing this one easy now
EXAMPLE : Up shift: 10-15 rpm Clutch from 6 to neutral clutch to gear 7 Down shift : from 8 10 rpm - clutch in to neutral --accelerate - clutch in to 7
good explanation sir
I need to come to your school
Great video ❤
Wow. This video is educative
Wow this help so much thank u
I'm in school tryna learn now so much goin on at once 😂
How does the gear to speed ratio work for an 8 speed?
Awesome video definitely appreciate it
Very useful video👍
Thanks for this Video
good job
Great video 20 CDL this man knows his gears
Are you able to clutch gear instead of double clutching can you make a video for that?
Cuz I know it’s different styles
Now how can do it when down shifting when going up the hill if loaded
would that speed limit trick work for Kilometers as well ?
