I got it I learned how to down shift and 35mph 3+5 is 8th gear 25mph 2+5 =7 thank you
now tell me about when the speed limit is 30 aha
keep it in 7th gear it will keep you at 25mph to 30mph which is not over the speed limit. Once you see the speed limit is 35mph then shift to 8th.
I like how you explain the gear to speed ratio adding the numbers that's an absolutely smart way I wish I was taught
Good video!
Amazing tutorial. I am a truck driver but haven’t driven a ten speed in a couple years. Will be driving one again today. Thank you so much.
Great Teaching!I never drove a 10 speed semi, but I feel like I can after watching your demonstration video! Thanks!
Sweet explanation so far.
Dang, the way you explained made it a lot easier. Great video!

Wow. This video is educative
I’m in cdl class now. This has been hard but this video has helped.
Did u pass?
Dude thank you for teaching me how to do the mph gear speed limit , nobody could've did that so simple that I got it on yo first explain, now imma show off and teach somebody else first chance I gt ...
I need a slow guide because people love to get ahead of themselves when teaching as if the person already know what to do
Thanks for the info. I needed that refresher
AWESOME, VIDEO..AND INSTRUCTOR. / FOR MANY YEAR'S I HAVE BEEN CONSIDERING BECOMING A TRUCK DRIVER.
HONESTY, IM AFRAID😂 SPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO DRIVE IN THE SNOW..!!
WATCHING THIS VIDEOS, IT MAKES ME WANT TO DO IT.
I LOVE DRIVING..! DO YOU OR ANY ONE WHO WAS SCARE/ LIKE ME .
AT SOME POINT. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE?? FOR ME..?? PLEASE
THANK YOU..!!
Thank you, is completely clear
Bro, that was an amazing explanation. I've been learning with my uncle and he's been driving for 40+ years and never told me any of this info. Learning with him has kind of been hard for me because he is old school mentality and just expects me to know it and figure it out. He doesn't view it from a greenhorn perspective lol. Im constantly asking him questions but the main thing I get out of driving with him is getting that driving experience because he owns his own truck. The mileage to what gear you should be in is the specific part im taking away from this video.
Thanks bro I'm from Kenya just got my truck driver stamp you made my day thanks alot
Hey bro I am happy on your trucking career. I hope you earn good salary. God bless.
Great techniques! Thanks for sharing. John😀
Awesome techniques video!
Thanks for sharing Victor. 👍👍👍
Tnx Victor. Wonderful . really enjoy it. so informative . appreciated.
Great video!! So helpful
El mejor profesor de New Jersey eres lo máximo gracias por todo junior
Phenomenal explanation man! Seriously. I learned and tested on an auto to get my CDL but I’m looking to have that restriction lifted from my license with my current company and this was helpful! Haven’t driven a manual commercial vehicle since 2019 but that was a box truck 6 speed. The 10 speed in most tractors will be new to me but I’m excited to try it out!
Yeah fareal, his explanations are great 💯 . Good luck with the 10 speed tractors 🚜🙏🏾
Good stuff...thanks for posting
Dope video brother! You speak very well and you’re a great teacher. Blessing from from Toronto 💪🏾
Beautifully explained
Thank you
Very well demonstrated 💯
Awesome video definitely appreciate it
Great teaching, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!
Great job
Thanks for the teaching god bless you
The speed limit addition to figure your gear, fkn genious!!
Thank you great way to explain to us how to shift 👍👌
Thank you this helped alot
Wow I learned a lot from this video
Great video
Learning a single axle dump 10spd coming from a 2door ford explorer 5spd and its rough hopefully these tid bits help
Thanks bro
Your amazing Victor. 🇱🇸
Very very good job ❤❤
Thank you a lot man. This really works. The funny thing is that I know how to float gears but I don’t know how to double clutch
Thanks you God bless you
Thank You…🙏🏽
Thanks Jr that came in hand.
Our instructor has us downshift to third gear and start in third gear on flat roads. On downhill turns onto the road start in 5th gear. I think I get it now. Thanks.
Great video 20 CDL this man knows his gears
U ARE THE BEST
Good vid
This is an excellent video. I know how to drive a manual in a reg truck, but it is way different for a 10-speed. the speed limit sign and which gear is fantastic. thank you, JR.
Very helpful Sir thank u very much Jah bless
Have learn something very important I was missing
Yo. Literally dummy proofed it right here!!!
Passed my tractor trailer test. I appreciate you greatly my good man!!!!!!
Congrats! @@Hemdawg93
i like your formula for the speed , like 25 speed, 2+5= 7gear , then 35 , means 3+5=8gear amazing this one easy now
I drove for the first time. It’s very different when you are driving. I felt like I had it until I drove 🤦🏾♀️
Yes sir
I was taught to do everything in 200s. When upshifting, rev to 1200rpm, clutch in, neutral, and clutch in and in gear before 1,000rpm. When down shifting, go to neutral at 800rpm, then rev to 1,000 and it slides right in
Different trucks will operate on different RPMs. The process is still the same. You gotta have a feel for your truck. I had a super ten and it wouldn’t shift two gears down if I wasn’t at 900rpm and wouldn’t shift a gear down if I wasn’t at 1000 rpm. I hope you trucking still
Mirrors are everything, I highly depend upon them 😅
I’m in school and we hit the clutch to shift gears. We just let go of the gas pedal and it switches gears. This way that your demonstrating is completely new to me lol
It’s called floating
Thank you sir
would that speed limit trick work for Kilometers as well ?
❤
Very informative. But the only thing I believe he left out is when shifting down two gears, you need to have the RPM lower to 700 to 800 then clutch Neutral then accelerator to 1000 to 1200 then shift two gear down.
11-16
👍
Teach us more sir otherwise thank you so much for this am in baby class
🙌🙌
Why are u double clutching ? Can’t u just float them with the proper rpm
Can anyone tell me why I keep stalling at a take off in 3 gear ?
It’s a more advanced technique,it just takes a bit of practice. Focus on the clutch when you start to raise it and feel contact and steady pressure, learn to keep it in that spot and raise it nice and steady from that point on, it should not stall but also keep in mind if your loaded or on a hill it will effect your take off as well. It’s all mostly practice and common sense. Nothing teaches you better than experience and repetition.
I don't watch RMPs I listen to my truck engine and watch my road speed and shift the truck up or down downshifting at 10RPM is too slow I drop them at 1500 mostly the high range.
There are many different variations on how to down shift and up shift but from my many years of experience, I feel this is the best and easiest techniques for New drivers. It seems to work best from my personal experience.
Of course once you have your comercial license in your pocket you can drive which ever is best for you and floating is also my preferred way to shift as well but this video is for students who are just starting off and still learning. They still have to go for there road test at the DMV.
@@hobokengreen1jr agree with 100%
I bet driving your truck in a city is pretty aggravating for you with all the traffic.
It's an accelerator pedal .. if you have unexperienced driver's driving a diesel truck ,they could be confused 😊
You dont need to clutch unless you are taking off from dead stop or backing up. I always float the gears
Have enjoyed this video now how to change down and engage slow slow , you are too fast
How to down shift you break to 10 rpm’s and then you clutch and place in neutral. Let go of the clutch and give gas until you reach between 13 and 15 rpms, then you press the clutch and shift down.
We got yelled at for saying gas in a diesel truck. We always had to say give it fuel.
It is a good explanation, but this school is in New Jersey bringing trucks on the exam from the junkyard to fail their students and sell them more hours. Also, they don't teach properly the pre-trip check. In 1 month period, I was only shown once how to do it, and most of us students failed the air brake check.
You doing to much, just float the gears ⚙️ …
Of course once you have your comercial license in your pocket you can drive which ever is best for you and floating is also my preferred way to shift as well but this video is for students who are just starting off and still learning. They still have to go for there road test at the DMV. In order for them to pass the exam it’s a requirement to use the clutch.
