- In this lesson aimed at beginner/early intermediate players, I take a look at what a power chord is, and show you a couple of the most common ways to play them on the guitar. Please go here for much more info on the lesson: www.anyonecanplayguitar.co.uk/...
I've been around on UA-cam to get guitar lessons… most are just "See how good I am - show Of".
You are down to earth and give our newcomer the hope that learning how to play guitar can be a good thing. Thank you. Lasse from Denmark
Yes he does
You're right, buddy
Very true. I'm trying to learn guitar and most channels are just showing off. I actually just learned stuff from this video. Subscribed!
Adrian is one of the best instructors you will find.
Guys go watch guitarlessons365song channel . I learn from him alot.
no guitar wankery..just friendly down to earth advice..well done
The only guitar teacher on UA-cam who I understand. Who is actually teaching and not just showing off.
Having played guitar for 53 years with the usual six string chords a a folk singer/church worship leader, I never understood power chords. In ten minutes you have explained it all brilliantly. Well done! PS. My music theory is very good which I suppose helps a lot.
After 53 years you'd think you'd just pick them up and naturally learn them yourself without been shown? Lol
@@cookdislander4372 Probably not on a six/12 string acoustic or 12 string Rickenbacker.
Took me six years to find this video and five minutes to understand and learn it. Thank you so much.
If it took you six years to figure out power chords, maybe you suck at guitar. Jesus
Aaron Tourangeau dont hate
Your lessons are really easy to follow. Thanks for being concise and speaking so clearly.
Your tutorials are by far my favorite ones out here on the internet. Thank you!
I enjoy how you teach and the great quality of information you provide! How you teach gives confidence to the beginner and they can actually see how this information is used on much of our rock music favorites. Great job! Will be back for more learning!
Concise, informative without over complication. Great lesson thank you
Excellent lesson! You explain things in understandable bits. Thank you so much.
I knew all this... but you made it much more clear to me.
You have the Special Power of Clear Explination.
A big part is that you could have said and done more but did not. You did what you came for and said, "Now go have some fun with it."
I finally found a channel where the video lesson is almost exactly the pace and level of music theory comprehension I hoped to find. I stumbled onto this material and I cannot congratulate you enough for putting these great videos together.
You do have the gift of teaching. Great video, I like your calm demeanor, it really makes it easy to absorb what you are teaching us. You’re great! Thanks!
Super great !!!! You’ve just switched on a light bulb in my head !!! I feel I’ve just moved forward three steps !!! Thanks so much !!! You explain really really well !!! Keep up the great work !!!!!
As a truly raw beginner, I was doing power chords all wrong. This is an eye-opener. Thank you!
The clearest and easiest demonstration on power chords I have seen. Made even easier for me given I have just started working on barre chords with my guitar teacher. Thanks for the excellent lesson.
Thanks so much Adrian. Excellent lesson. You really are a great teacher. Looking forward to part 2!
Glad you liked it Richard. I've filmed part 2 and will get it up as soon as I've edited it together. Probably later this week.
Very nice! Between the two parts the explanations were excellent and VERY complete. A BIG help so some of us that are relatively new to guitar playing and looking to play some rock and metal... Thanks!
Dude... you killed it. A straightforward, easy-to-understand breakdown. Muchos kudos. Many thanks. I shall now proceed to shred!
Easy to understand with your method, and Straight to the point man. Good lesson!

Makes you wonder if the phrase ...WHOAAA DUUUDE!..Was invented at the same time as power chords
hahahahahahahaha!!! Golden!

I really enjoyed your power chord lesson. Your introduction is exactly where I’m at with my current guitar teacher. He acted offended last week when I mentioned the words “power chords”. Keep it up - great job!
He must he classically trained ,called them the 5th intervals next time 😂
I fell in love with you right around the "10 yr old listening to Iron Maiden" -- thank you ever so much for the clarity, humour and to the point explanations!
I finally understand this. Thank you, Adrian!
I learned about power cords from my Ramones records back in the 70s.
Very good, Adrian! This is a good place to start for those who want to rock out!!

My fav guitar lessons (show) GREAT teacher
Thank you so much, just learned This Charming Man by The Smiths from you or still trying....!...
I dig your style, man. Thanks for empowering us noobs!
I always pretended I knew what the 1st, 3rd and 5th meant among my musical friends. Thanks for teaching me!
Another great video. Two of my favourite guitar riffs there, You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night. Currently struggling to get my head around Johnny Marr's genius riff for Bigmouth Strikes Again.
Thanks, glad you liked it. Yes, bigmouth is tough - very fast and busy right hand - stick with it!
Will do, thanks. Doesn't help that I've seen conflicting ways to play it on UA-cam, think I've finally got it though. Practice makes perfect etc. :)
Just get the down down up pattern going for Bigmouth
Thank you 🙏
