Thank you for "destroying" parts of your painting to make it more interesting. Thank you for not painting Disney cartoons. And thank you for not painting hyper-realistic. And thank you thank you thank you for explaining why. I really appreciate all of these things!
BOOM!!!! Right on baby!!! You got it, optical mixing is more for portraits impressionistic-ally, taching and double loading is for impressionistic landscapes, that's it right there man! Glad to hear someone else say what I've been self teaching...myself.
I appreciate your thoughts about art.It reminded me how was it again to learn about art. I dont know if I can call myself a professional artist yet but I have a univ degree for painting. I have been painting for years but sometimes I just feel lost. When I hear stuff like this, I get reminded why I love leaning art and painting in general. Thank you.
I have seen two videos so far. My heart is soaring. I am absolutely in love with your style and your commentary is entertaining ^^ Thank you for the content.
I’m in love. I just started exploring painting and you said what o other teachers have said. ,It’s so hard! Only problem is I’d rather watch you than try to paint.......😘 You’re so inspiring....
I really like his work , clean and bright , lose and tight. The vintage 80s poster art look is great and it's still based on traditional oil painting techniques. I like when he says at the end of every video , so yeah have a good one... 👍👍
I LOVE your conversation here! I totally agree, I think the best paintings are those that mimic how the human eye sees the world. There are areas of focus and other areas that are softer and have less information. Great video!
I love these "mind of an artist" videos! I also like how you start with the dark parts in this one - I do it most of the time, too! I feel it helps you get a feel for the finished piece in a sense...
❤️❤️❤️ u make me want to get back into oil. I grew to love acrylics, but hated oil because of the dry time. But you👏👏👏👌 make it look so fun. I can't wait for the next one, the was absolutely amazing!
You can always use Alkyd oil paint. It's a fast drying oil paint. You can also add medium to increase the drying time. I never liked the plasticky look of acrylics. It drys too fast and is very hard on brushes.
I have just started to watch your videos , at first I didn’t care for the way you destroyed them. But as I watched more demonstrations I found that I like this , it ( for me ) makes the painting more interesting You make it look so easy
You always have a lot to offer sir. I highly appreciate how you explain details without actually explaining them and how you compare painting with food always.
Thank you for putting things into words what I've felt for ages but couldn't explain. I appreciate photo realistic paintings but I've never understood the point of them. Photography is an art form, why not leave it to that? My favorite paintings are ones that blend realistic with something more- be it more saturated color, loose brushstrokes or some other added element. I love your deconstructions and I hope to be brave enough to try it sometime :)
Your videos never fail to amaze me, honestly they feel like an enlightenment haha I swear I've learned so much new information through your videos I can't thank you enough
Another fine video! Loved learning about optical mixing and using cool and warm colors to create the illusion. Also, I don't see how you have time to make these videos and keep up with gallery work...It's impressive!
you inspired me to start painting, good sir. I’m first practicing with watercolors and I’m loving blending the colors and giving a piece much depth. Hopefully I’ll gain enough experience on colors and how to piece them to graduate to using acrylics and then oils. I do want to ask however, what’s your story in getting started with painting? What paints did you use and how often did you do it, too?
Sería genial si le pusieras subtitulos en español a tus videos son muy buenos y creo que aportarias mucho a artistas de habla hispana. Saludos y siempre éxito
Your portraits are absolutely amazing! So enjoyable to watch you bring them to life. I've been finding myself picturing you painting "make-up" on a live model. Starting out w/ a clean face like a blank canvas and then using all of your creative and unpredictable brush strokes and color choices. Just a thought! :)
Thanks for dropping these knowledge bombs on us. You say stuff if your videos that’s makes me say “OF COURSE!” even though I’ve never considered it before
Vanessa probably print it off, as the brightness on your screen can be adjusted and it s just easier to print it off. The tone you’ll get from observing a printed off picture will be more consistent.
I am a recent follower and i have doubts regarding the choice of color pallette for skin tones. Could you please do a video on using various colors for skin tone like you used red, green and other colors. Also, if one does not want to paint in normal skin colors but in some other particular color, say blue for example. How should one go about painting the entire face with the help of blue color?
Omg your art is amazing! I’m so excited to start painting with oils! You are my inspiration right now I’m curious, do you have a video about color mixing?
I'm not sure if you read your comments but, recently I hated drawing. I myself am not that good of an artist, decades from being professional. I am 12 years old. I dont want you to read some sob story so I'll get to the point. The words you use make me understand the concept of art so well. In one of your videos, (I dont know exact words), you said something along the lines of "an artist should not want to put an exact replication of the image, but make the viewer feel a certain way." That made me come out of my hole. My art feels better to do. I like drawing again. Thank you for listening if you did :)
Very attractive modern style - very interesting approach and the vibrancy of the painting is truly charming - I would like to see you paint a portrait of a “ naked face” with soft opposites of warm and cool colors e. g. a light haired, blue-green eyed person But I really like your approach and your very direct explanation of what you do and why It is visually very interesting and looks alive ( breating)
Hii, I love your videos and was just wondering if you maybe could do a video on how to find the right colour palette. It's something I often struggle with and then end up using too much/little contrasts or the colours are just a little off. I'd really appreciate it :) Thanks for all the videos you've made so far, always very helpful and well explained, really apprecialte that.
U are wrong about medium. Only oil will darken colors, won t last in times. Oil painting is an old technique which has been used for centuries it's a chemistry as medium made of oil and varnish allow the oxydation which protects, dries, and fixes the colors.
Béatrice Chagnon you're they only one on here calling him out. Finally. Assumes and generalizes way too much, while putting other artist down. he's like, enough about me, what do YOU think about me, lol. How can no one else see this?
So... for someone who hasn't gone through formal art education like the Art Institute... can you recommend where we can learn more about this "optical mixing"? I've studied impressionism and Monet's works but have never heard that term.... probably wasn't paying attention. Well, you have it now...
"When we paint a painting, we're not only decorating a surface, we're also orchestrating a visual experience."
Hear, hear! 💛
oil on paper Steffi woah I was reading it as he said it ..not planned lmaooo
Thank you for "destroying" parts of your painting to make it more interesting. Thank you for not painting Disney cartoons. And thank you for not painting hyper-realistic. And thank you thank you thank you for explaining why. I really appreciate all of these things!
Thanks for the great comment 💪
Some thoughts on painting skin tones, finishing paintings... and of course pizza
You should actually paint a Pizza 💟 tremendous video Alpay
👏👍🌼🌼

i love ur style...hyper realism is great but i still want the painting to look like a painting. and ur technique is great. lots to learn from you.

I’m in love. I just started exploring painting and you said what o other teachers have said. ,It’s so hard! Only problem is I’d rather watch you than try to paint.......😘
You’re so inspiring....
I agree. More detail isn’t always necessary in creating the illusion of realism. Great video! 🙌
I really like his work , clean and bright , lose and tight. The vintage 80s poster art look is great and it's still based on traditional oil painting techniques. I like when he says at the end of every video , so yeah have a good one... 👍👍
This is so great!! You're such a good artist and I could literally listen to you talk for HOURS
Haha, thanks :)
Your absolutely correct. You've hit on what I've been seeking for years as a painter. Fantastic!
never thought of cool and warm colours like that! so interesting - love you

Great work. I love it when artists break "the rules". I like your philosophy.
I think this is my favorite painting of all it's beautiful.
Wow! I just got some oil paints and I have never used oil. This motivated me to break them out!
You always have a lot to offer sir. I highly appreciate how you explain details without actually explaining them and how you compare painting with food always.
Same

from empty rubbish one to an amazing realistic painting..you make me inspired.Thank you.✌️🧡🥰
Thank you for all of these portrait videos. It’s really helping me understand color and skin color.
I loved it when you destroyed the painting. It looked complete. I like how that eye didn't show through, pleasing to the eye's!
Just love your work and tutorials, keep up the great work
I just love your videos ... your words have so much to offer and you art is wonderful..
Amazing artist you have changed my perception of painting
Your videos never fail to amaze me, honestly they feel like an enlightenment haha I swear I've learned so much new information through your videos I can't thank you enough
Thank you for an another awesome video, you inspire.me to keep working hard at painting!
Another fine video! Loved learning about optical mixing and using cool and warm colors to create the illusion. Also, I don't see how you have time to make these videos and keep up with gallery work...It's impressive!
I know it’s crazy... well, I’m seriously thinking about crowdfunding the videos so that I can actually keep doing them :)

I find your videos so grounding and practical, thank you!!!!
A painting is finished when YOU FEEL it's finished. It's subjective. This guy is the true definition of an artist. I Stan
I *LOVE* the way this turned out
You are super talented,i like your painting!👍😍
fantastic...I love your painting. Thank you for charing your art. ❤

Thanks for dropping these knowledge bombs on us. You say stuff if your videos that’s makes me say “OF COURSE!” even though I’ve never considered it before
06:49 I nearly spat my tea out!
Random question but do you think it’s better to look at a reference photo from a digital device (iPad/laptop etc.) or is it better to print it out?
Vanessa probably print it off, as the brightness on your screen can be adjusted and it s just easier to print it off. The tone you’ll get from observing a printed off picture will be more consistent.
It’s actually better to print it out because you can never match the brightness of a screen
this is really helpful for beginners like me I've learned a lot!
Absolutely love your videos, you inspire me!
You're an art genius in my eyes, keep up the amazing work!
Loooove your painting style.

I like the colour 👍

Thank you. Fantastic tutorial. Do any of your tutorials include palette? Colors?
You are so talented!!!I love you pay attention with those details and I like how you painted her bangs and the seductive facial expression!

You do make up better than most women. Look at that mascara!!
I love your work!❤
Love the skin tone colors. Good work.
Wow, great video, Alpay. I couldn't agree with you more about creating a painting and not making a copy of a realistic photo.
you speak the truth my friend and inspired all beginners like me :) thank you

This is sooooo beautiful!!! She looks a lot like Halsey 🧡
very! thank you...

Fantastic. Thanks
I'm the opposite! I never fail to gasp when you 'destroy' parts of the painting!! I don't like that part! Otherwise: brilliant!
Which surfaces do you use for oil painting? Besides I wanted to thank you for uploading your process and make the experience great ❤️
Wow!! Can you please make a list of the materials you'd used in that artwork
Amazing!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Do you have a store or offer prints of your work?
You can check out my store at alpayefe.com
I freakin love this guy!!!
LOVE THIS !!!
You make me want to paint again
He's killing me with the " I Go Back and Forth with DESTROYING" parts of the painting..... PS: I'm hungry too !
How inspiring !
