This was my father's favourite song. He had a beautiful tenor voice and would sing this just for the joy of singing it. He passed 21 years ago. I lost my son Daniel thirteen years ago. I can't hear this song without remembering them. On my right arm is a tattoo of a Celtic harp surrounded by roses and on a banner across it are the notes for the last line of this song. This is the most beautiful rendition I have ever heard and I wish so much that I could share it with them.
My son will be buried at the age of 21 , this will be played for his memory because 4 generations loved this song . RIP to all the young men dying in for nothing . Pointless
My baby boy Daniel died after living only 12 hours.Early birth from the Dalkon Shield fiasco. That was 50 years ago this coming October. His father and I still feel his presence and mourn his loss. This piece is magnificent.
You don't need Irish blood to tear on this one,I am 100% Italian and a 100 year old Irishman just passed away at my mom's assisted living place today,he was strong ,he was joyful, and he sang this song with heart and fervor like no young man,his name was Tom and he was so nice to mom nd when he sang it wasn't that he was Irish or Italian ,it was his character that mattered,RIP my friend!
Your mother is a wonderful women. A whole hearted thank you to her for looking after one of our elderly Gaels. A happy life and God willing eternal life for your mother.
My 99 year old Irish Catholic dad, a WWII Navy vet, passed September 23, 2020. This was his favorite song and he sang it at many family gatherings. I play Danny Boy every night (using different vocalists) at about the same time -- for him.
These women don't get half the recognition they deserve. Their harmonies are flawless and their voices blend so perfectly together. If I had a choice of any one concert to go to in my entire life, it would be theirs.
My mom, passed away on Sunday August 2, 2015, while she has been laying in a nursing home, with Alzheimer's for quit a while. I am listening to her favorite songs from her homeland. A war bride, living in our USA, her heart was always in the highlands. That is for sure. This is beautiful wish she could be here to enjoy. I pray she is going to Dance in heaven from now on.

My grandma passed away about a year and a half ago. She was a fiery redhead until the day she died, and she was so proud of her Irish heritage. This song makes me think of her 🤍
Listening to this reminds me why I've been a Celtic Women fan since the beginning. I was 16 when I first started listening to them. Behind all of the showmanship, the productions, choir, choreography and fanfare are beautiful women with the most pure, controlled divine voices I have ever heard. God blessed them and us to be able to hear them.
Thank you Chloe, Tara and Megan. You will help me and my five sisters say goodbye to our Dad on Friday. Music was such an important part of his life and to hear your beautiful voices singing during the service will be so meaningful. Good bye, Dad. Rest well, my friend. You will be forever missed.

Celtic Woman's performance of Danny Boy never ceases to move me to tears. It reminds me of a dear departed young lady who I was in love with in school. Cindy passed on in 1987, but I sincerely believe that one day I'll see her again in the hereafter. May she rest in peace in God's love. She'll always be in my love.
My grandfather would always sing this song to me and I never actually heard the whole thing until now (my name is Danny). I cried so hard, what a beautiful song.
I have heard them sing this song live three different times over the years. Everything about it is like something from another world. It is nearly impossible to hold the tears back, and the lump in your throat. It will almost make a person break down in convulsive sobs because the message, and the tight and haunting harmonies, are so stirring. It is supernaturally mesmerizing.

I just can't put into words the emotion I feel when I hear these ladies sing this song. I've traced my ancestors to Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England and beyond. My parents are gone now. When I visit their grave and I softly tread above them and I yearn for the day when Christ returns that my parents will indeed sleep in peace.
"Danny Boy" Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling It's you, it's you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so. But when ye come, and all the flow'rs are dying If I am dead, as dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an ave there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be For you will bend and tell me that you love me And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.
I have now watched this video for god knows how many times. What beautiful singing, what beautiful voices, and Chloe Agnew is just amazing. I am 75 years old, and an avid country music fan but this is an unbelievable version of a classic Irish song. No one in the world should go to their maker without hearing this. PURE MAGIC
I can say with great pride that I take after my Irish heritage (not only just in looks, but customs as well) and the first time I heard this, I was a tearful mess. I actually did not know who sang this version when hearing it, but it just made me cry out of the blue. I still well up to this day when listening..so damn proud to have Irish blood in me.
Perfectly in tune, perfect harmonies (especially at the end!) and oh so much beauty and purity in their voices. I love the fact that it's a capella because it allows this to shine wonderfully! Just breath taking.
My grandfather was a tall crystal blue eyed Irishman. I spent every min I could with him as a child. I would hear him belting this from the basement vents doing laundry. Then, We watched this performance on TV when I was a teenager. I miss his love, the way he was. This specific piece is such a beauty, I'll love it forever. I'll love him forever, too.
+Ella Wofford It was clearly meant to be romanticized, not meant to be offensive. God damn, you tumblr girls will take offense to anything. Won't you? Inb4 butthurt Social Justice comeback
This is absolutely touching… just imagining living in the song, all those terrible years in the First World War, it’s brought tears to my eyes. I pay my respect to this song-and most importantly, those who paid their lives for the purpose of righteousness and justice.
I've been struggling to believe in God for years. Still am, but I know that if there is a heaven, this is what I hope to hear when I arrive there. One of the sweetest melodies ever, sung by four of the most beautifully talented women in existence, each note heartbreakingly precise it creates an extremely bittersweet image, and I can't think of a rendition of this song that's made me feel anything close to this. Brava, Celtic Woman.
Recommend read the Gospel of John, the first chapter is not the easiest, but I think it is the Gospel that really lays out the story of Christ most plainly, and how God reconciles us to Himself through all that Jesus has done for us. He did not have to go to the cross, He willingly chose to.
I suggest you do some soul searching and make an informed decision. The bible is one of the worst books to have been written for so many reasons. How can you stand by a book that was formed from only a portion of the divinely inspired gospels? Yes, the Catholic Church went through and picked out what they liked and the rest were tossed. Many parts of the bible have been tampered with by those who assembled it as well as by the countless scribes who copied and recopied this tome over the centuries. When we look at the oldest version of the bible the Codex Sianaticus we find that the gospel of John ends well before it does in modern bibles. Jesus appears before some ladies in his tomb and are told to tell no one. Every other thing was added by the church to make it more worthy of an institution seeking to control the entire world. In fact, the date of the last part of the bible is estimated to have been added several hundred years after the death of Jesus and scribed by the church itself. Most people go though and find what they like and shove it in the faces of others while somehow “forgetting” the parts they don’t like. If you accept the bible and the fact that you are expected to live by it then (this is just a small part of many, many parts of the bible that are ignored today) women not only are not allowed the position of pastor or preacher but are not even allowed to speak inside a church. Indeed it seems that the lord is a sexist who thinks that men should be in charge of everything and that slavery is not only acceptable, but says that slaves should be happy with their lot in life. A deity capable of creating a universe should be expected to be both omniscient and prescient; therefore, knowing how the future will unveil itself must be upset indeed. It is quite strange that such a being is surprised and upset over so many things that happen. I find it equally odd that the knowledge he transmitted through such fallible vessels strangely favored men, and especially those involved with the church. One would think that knowledge communicated to us would not be open to change, and further us being his favored children above all others as proven by his allowing the sacrifice of his son that he (please don’t offer the idea that a women gave forth the gospel that so strongly put them in a place of drudgery) has been strangely reticent throughout the centuries. Of course, any time a natural disaster strikes there are those who place the blame on the lord’s wrath. You would expect him to get tired of that crap after a while and to at least start smiting a few of these people or at least the famous preachers who stray from the path so far and steal and fornicate with prostitutes
Austin; The belief in God is often very difficult. And even those determined and dedicated to it, it can be a struggle at times. One of the best salesmen evil has, quite honestly, are people claiming faith but not living it. In the case of Christianity, we have been warned about hypocrisy (oh how this disturbed the Lord) and self righteousness as all people fail to measure up. There is a passage in Matthew 7, vs 21-23 where false disciples are given warning. If you search, you will find. There just was never given an assured time frame. And we generally have short-term human expectations. There is so much that goes wrong in the world, sometimes it really is difficult to see how any god much less God could permit suffering, pain, loss, violence and all of the things this world binds us to. But perhaps, much of that is permitted so that good people, true disciples can spread love and healing as a contrast to such darkness. I myself don't have all the answers, but I know one who does. Randal
Konichi Wawa dude, you're just plain flat dead wrong. The Bible will inform you and change your life for the better if actually read it cover to cover and live by it, ha. Nothing else in this world even comes close to the deep wisdom or consistency of purpose you find in the Bible. Moreover, through faith in Messiah Jesus, God makes it happen in your life on a daily basis. Every day of my life has been better since I gave my life to Jesus when I was 16. He never promised a rose garden, to quote the old song, but He makes all the difference in our lives when we walk with Him and He watches over us. You're just plain sad in all your self importance and disdain, which will take you nowhere. I sincerely hope you will give your heart to God through faith in Jesus (John 14:6, 3:16) and know His glory. It's the only thing that lights this dark world.
Beware of the Snake in the Grass/The wolf in Sheep’s clothing; Faith is a lot like playing a musical instrument. Some naturally take to it easier than others but it takes practice and study; but first desire. You have to want to learn. And sometimes you drop a note or break a string. The problem with so many goats walking about, is they often run with the sheep so much they don’t know they are goats, and worse, people looking to learn can’t separate the goats from the sheep. Well, we learn to judge a tree by its fruit. It was said a good tree cannot bear bad fruit and a bad tree cannot bear good. My dad has passed a way but he used to say, ‘Don’t so much watch what people say but what they do. One is more telling than the other.’ I want to avoid the works and faith discussion to return to my original truth offered. Everyone has moments of doubts and strengths. In one of my favorite stories in the Bible is the Book of Job. In summary, God and the Devil make a bet, that Job (a good man) could be turned away from God. God allows the Devil to test Job’s metal with some horrible things. But the two things I made note of are these; 1) in Job 1 and 2 when the people came together to pray to God, the devil came with them, God asked, where ya been, Devil responds, walking the earth back and forth and up and down on it and 2) when the Devil came after Job to turn him against God, he came as Job’s wife and friends - quoting and misapplying scripture (kinda like those goats). The other thing to remember other than the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge and central to being honest in your heart that doubts can exist at times is learned from Thomas after the resurrection of the Lord. No doubt you heard the expression “doubting Thomas”, well, one of the Lord’s chosen 12 was a hard sell. When the risen Jesus met Thomas on the road, Thomas didn’t recognize him at first until the Lord told him, ‘Thomas, come feel the holes in my hands. Put your hand in the hole in my side.’ Thomas then knew he was the Lord because Thomas had said he would not believe the Lord rose unless he put his fingers and hand in the holes; and what is important to note, Jesus was already crucified and gone by then. Jesus didn’t scold Thomas for his doubt, he loved him. He understands we are people and subject to doubt but like Job, we do need to learn and study over the years so that when Evil comes misquoting scripture that we can differentiate sheep and goats. The path to Glory is very narrow and few find it, wide is the gate to being lost; it is easy to be pulled off course - even when you think you are home free. The Lord could say to the waters be calm, and they obeyed Him. Do you not think he could have owned the 12’s minds at a snap of the fingers? But like the guitar, he took time to learn and understand. And, they got a lot wrong. And we see the promise literally to the end, the last book in the bible - Revelation 3:19 and 20, He says ‘Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.’ Trying to stay on path, you will be corrected, but just ask, that is all He needs to get it going. Much relies on you. People simply make a choice - what type of life they wish to live. I have reached the end of this thread.
My grandfather died 10 years ago, i have never been able to listen to this song as it was played at his funeral when the casket was being taken away. I have just sat here and sobbed my eyes our listening to this. A beautiful version .
This barbershop quartet, let alone the entire group, will never ever ever be topped. I don’t know where Ireland gets all these dynamite singers from, but here in the US, we don’t have them to this level. It’s a miracle this group even formed in the first place, but I really wish I would have caught them sooner. Late 2020 and I’m just now discovering them, and can’t put them away.
The kind of song, sung in such a way, that makes me wonder how angels must sound. That is, if humans can sing so beautifully, how is it possible for angels to sound even more Divine?
For my Irish grandmother and my mother on St. Patrick's Day (tomorrow). I love you and miss you so much. I'll carry on your Irish pride forever. Until we meet again.
It is, in my mind, THE definitive arrangement and performance of this song. The harmonies are stunning, the performance is practically impeccable, and the emotion they imbue is just wonderful. Even subsequent performances by Celtic Woman, while excellent, have not measured up to this one. Despite having heard it probably dozens of times, I still often tear up at the sheer beauty of it. Exquisite!
This is truly a song about love. It's like no one appreciates this kind of music anymore. I remember the first time my mom bought the CD for Celtic Woman and it inspired me to join a choir. So proud of my Irish heritage.
The song was actually sung by an Irish flute player. Villagers heard the tune, copied it and made it popular. I guess we both read two different versions of how the song came into existence. My grandmother is also British so I'm still proud of it no matter the place it was created!
This song was played at my Aunties funeral this morning. Although she immigrated from Ireland at 2 years old, she loved this song so much, probably because my Nanna and Pa loved it too. Enjoy heaven my beautiful Aunt Lorraine. I will see you again at the other side of the rainbow. xxx
My beautiful mum died suddenly & unexpectedly on her birthday, 10 January 2022. I was suddenly thrown into this world of organising a funeral for the first time & I had no idea what I was doing. Other than knowing she wanted Eva Cassidys somewhere over the rainbow I didn’t know what to choose or say. My family & I walked behind mum to this song. I’d given up hope trying to find something suitable until this came up in the early hours on my recommended page.. & it just hit me. Mum used to sing Danny Boy to me as a little girl. This is the first time I’ve listened to it since that February day. I burst into tears. Oh mum.. I miss you so much, I don’t know how to go on without you here. I love you more than you’ll ever know. X
Though the song is Irish, and my heritage is Scottish, this song takes me home...home to the highlands where Clan Chisholm once resided. I've never been "'cross the pond," but hope to one day tour all three countries. Ladies - I've heard so many different versions of Danny Boy, but none have ever brought the tears as quickly, and as powerful, as you have. Thank you...many times over!
chris harris it was written in Limavady in County Londonderry. There is a historical plaque there commemerating the writer - a lady who lived in the house opposite mine. The tune was taken from a group of travelling gypsies.
Hopefully on this Saint Patrick's day, many will not only celebrate in a festive way, but also remember his teachings to live a better life to please God.
They deserve alot of credit tons of it let's honor and appreciate Celtic woman really enjoyed and appreciate your singing you should be proud great job people you should be proud keep on singing music to my ears watching you on TV or my cell phone or dvd player is priceless stay safe and warm out there stay strong and healthy as well much love and respect and appreciation very impressed to the original members after all these years later appreciate the memories and music !!!! I can't listen to this song without crying...too many memories of those no longer here and what this day and this music meant to them. My daughter "Ma, if it makes you cry why do you listen?" Me: "because I never want to forget"
I am Daniel From the west Coast of Canada. My Mothers family is of the Kwakwakawakw people. My Father, Irish man. I heard folks sing this to me, "oh Danny boy" for years and I had no idea what it meant. Much love It's an honor to know not just my own ancestors sing for me, here, but there too!
I am a Scot and this song moves me to tears despite my flinty Scottish heart. Those young women have the voices of angels.

And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.
Awesome...love it
thank you - this means a lot to me. It's nice to hear but even more wonderful to read...

I have now watched this video for god knows how many times. What beautiful singing, what beautiful voices, and Chloe Agnew is just amazing. I am 75 years old, and an avid country music fan
but this is an unbelievable version of a classic Irish song.
I keep playing this over and over because the harmonies are so beautiful!!
If you've got even one drop of Irish blood in you, you WILL well up with tears at this. This is as close to perfect as it gets.
honeybear64 i wish i was irish, this song is beautiful!
+honeybear64 Indeed, beautiful is an understatement.
Wow, stereotyping at its lowest.
I am currently bawling my eyes out and I'm 90% Irish
+Ella Wofford It was clearly meant to be romanticized, not meant to be offensive. God damn, you tumblr girls will take offense to anything. Won't you?

This is absolutely touching… just imagining living in the song, all those terrible years in the First World War, it’s brought tears to my eyes. I pay my respect to this song-and most importantly, those who paid their lives for the purpose of righteousness and justice.
Amen to that, brother, Amen to that...
Love this song. Well sung. Thank you all.💗
I've been struggling to believe in God for years.
Austin;
The belief in God is often very difficult.

Beware of the Snake in the Grass/The wolf in Sheep’s clothing;
Faith is a lot like playing a musical instrument.
One is more telling than the other.’
I want to avoid the works and faith discussion to return to my original truth offered.
A beautiful version
.
Such a moving song. This arrangement is particularly beautiful, and evokes such emotion. ❤️
These young ladies have the voices of angels,I listen to Celtic Woman every evening to relax.
My ancestors and my blood are from Scotland for 11th century ... You make me vibrate and shiver !!!
These girls sing like angels on earth!
There more raw talent in these four women than in the music industry as a whole today
The kind of song, sung in such a way, that makes me wonder how angels must sound.
That is, if humans can sing so beautifully, how is it possible for angels to sound even more Divine?
I can't speak enough about how fantastic and moving this performance was.
My grandmother use to sing this to me when I was a child. Beautiful song. This shouldbring tears to everyone's eyes.
いつも聴いても良い歌声…美しい.うつとり、息もピッタリ、当たり前だけど、涙が出て🥲、癒しです。ありがとうございます😊
For my Irish grandmother and my mother on St. Patrick's Day (tomorrow). I love you and miss you so much. I'll carry on your Irish pride forever. Until we meet again.
こんなん泣いてしまうわ。素晴らしすぎる。
I've heard many performances of Danny boy in my life, but through this, I've cried for the first time listening to it...
Exquisite!
Bryan Keeler I salute you. I could've never said it better. ^-^
Each and every one of them is so beautiful and they sing like angels. I am always in all at the Celtic woman show!😊
What a true gift to have voices like this on our planet. I so hope Lynn Hilary comes back for good.
Where did you get the coconuts
Oh! What angelic voices these women have.! so beautiful ! Their rendition is magnificient ! Thank you for sharing us their beautiful performance.
I'm bawling my eyes out.
Not kidding.
This is so very beautiful.
Your right! It's near impossible to not cry while listening to this.
+Dharmesh Mistry (daggerdraco) I cry every time
TheGACKTfan Ikr ;~;
Your not alone!!
yeah this song was my dads favorite ;_;
My family's song for those we've lost, but will never let go.
This song was played at my Aunties funeral this morning. Although she immigrated from Ireland at 2 years old, she loved this song so much, probably because my Nanna and Pa loved it too. Enjoy heaven my beautiful Aunt Lorraine. I will see you again at the other side of the rainbow. xxx
Absolute masterwork. My favorite rendition of Danny boy by far.
Sorry for your lost.
4 Beautiful women, 4 angelic voices, 1 stunningly haunting performance. Blown away
Ahhh, brought tears to my eyes. SO beautiful.
The song is English, Fred Weatherly, It relates to his son Danny who died in ww1. Fred never visited Ireland the music is from Northern Ireland
chris harris it was written in Limavady in County Londonderry. There is a historical plaque there commemerating the writer - a lady who lived in the house opposite mine. The tune was taken from a group of travelling gypsies.
Ronnie Marks Derry,no such place as "Londonderry". A made up name by British fascists.
Neues Album 2018 von Celtic Woman
Paul Chism Go! Taking a pilgrimage to the Highlands is an amazing soul touching experience!
1 drop I may not have but a heart I do, this is beautiful! I am so sorry for your loss...And my God shall wipe away every tear!
this is what heaven sounds like
Hopefully on this Saint Patrick's day, many will not only celebrate in a festive way, but also remember his teachings to live a better life to please God.
I went to class and played this full volume. No regrets from me here

LYRICS
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written.Real Celtic.
Every time my family gets together my dad sings this. I have videos over the years of him singing this. It's both joyful and sad at the same time.
This is nothing but complete perfection , a little taste of heaven here on earth
Music to my ears, I hear those pipes calling.
My grandfather was Irish ☘️ his favorite song. That was beautiful
I sure am proud of my Irish heritage...
🇮🇪
I was watching this with my grandma once and she was singing along, i wanted to cry
Beautiful in a violent troubled world. Much needed.
Absolutely stunning. It takes my breath away
The most delicate version of Danny Boy I’ve ever heard. I really enjoyed this.
We played this at my dad's funeral, his favourite song..xxx sounded like angels singing in the church..
Never underestimate the power of a woman's voice. It can bring both war and mostly.... Hopefully.... Peace. A wonderful creation it is.
I can't listen to this song without crying...too many memories of those no longer here and what this day and this music meant to them. My daughter "Ma, if it makes you cry why do you listen?" Me: "because I never want to forget"
Absolutely Beautiful The BEST version I have ever seen and heard in 45 years
Beautiful ladies and angelic voices. Love listening to them. Just wonderful.
i'm sorry for having limited vocabularies but this is just so perfect. absolutely perfect.
Your Name Engraved Herein brought me here!!!... There is so much nostalgia in that movie. I really hate it when movies do time skips
Just discovered Celtic Woman. Can’t stop listening!!
I am not Irish but this song is beautiful, it's a song for all victims of the wars. Thank you for this performance. Philippe
The song isn't Irish either
I am Daniel From the west Coast of Canada. My Mothers family is of the Kwakwakawakw people. My Father, Irish man. I heard folks sing this to me, "oh Danny boy" for years and I had no idea what it meant. Much love It's an honor to know not just my own ancestors sing for me, here, but there too!
My first St. Patrick's day with my mom gone. I listen to to this in thinking of her. It's not goodbye its simply till we might again
