It's kind of funny, I guess, that I was digging Sadler Vaden's guitar slinging WAY before I had ever heard of Jason Isbell or Mike McCready (but I love them too).
OMG! When i was 17 yrs old, i went to school in seatle. Lived in the Evangeline womens boarding house run by the salvation army. THIS is where i learned about music, listening to jimi hendrix over and over on a little suitcase record player. GOD! This brings back memories!
I must also mention: Jimi was a great songwriter. He’d be so happy his tunes are still so beloved. So insecure. Like all geniuses. Man, this is beautiful
Jason always has beautiful stage sets and has them lit so perfectly. The attention to detail (sound, visual, etc) is top notch. Very much appreciated. Stage guests not bad either :)
Mike McCready is the best Guitarist of his generation... Period. His work on Pearl Jam alone would earn that, but toss in Mad Season and Temple of the Dog... Those are 3 of the most important bands of the era. Dude is a MONSTER player.
I’m sure Jimi would have been impressed with SRV’s version and his virtuosity, But Steve Lawrence doing “ My Way” doesn’t make it better. Steve Lawrence was a great singer, But all other versions will never measure up to the original. For that matter, Ella Fitzgerald’s ( arguably the best female singer of all time) version of “ Sunshine of Your Love “ is interesting, but not quite the same.
That was freakin awesome!! That's my Mike Freakin McCready 🎸one of my favorite lead guitarist!! Incredible performance by everyone! There is some serious guitar playing on that stage 🎸🔥 Thank You so much for this awesome entertaining video!! 😊💓🤘✌️🌹
I appreciate the homage, But even SRV and Clapton couldn’t capture the magic and emotion of Jimi.Who could? But , it’s hard to cover songs were every note and inflection is ingrained in the memory of so many people. The good news is , Most of the people who grew up with that music will soon be with Jimi Hendrix and your interpretation will be the one that a new generation has heard for the very first time. Thank You and keep Peter Green , Leslie West and Jeff Beck ‘s memory alive for the next generation.
I don't think you're wrong but I think it's worth nothing that everyone playing the song now plays the Derek & the Dominos version. When was the last time you saw someone play a 3 minute Little Wing? Not to say one is better than the other, it's all built on the foundation Jimi provided, but the D&tD version has arguably been more influential
Look up Garry Moore's covers of Jimi's stuff. He did some performance with Mitch Mitchell, and Billy Cox that are historic. May they both rest in peace.
Sadler's no slouch, either. Thing is, the guys on stage aren't competing. They're making music, and discovering their chemistry. Dig it from that perspective, and you'll have a lot more fun. I promise!
The sound quality of this video is horrific and doesn't even allow one to hear most of the notes being played. What a waste, And I'm not fond of a two-guitar version of this song during the vocal. Jimi spoke with his voice, and guitar as one, and a 2nd guitar just gets in the way.
What do expect from a phone recording in a live show? This is not a studio recording! Would you rather not see any recording of it? What is your point?
Oh god ! One of the most beautiful tunes ever written! Hendrix forever!
"Make me cry"
Literally
Most underrate guitar player of all time
Thank you for filming this in landscape. 🙏
Wow !! Love Mike !!! And Jason as well !!!
It's kind of funny, I guess, that I was digging Sadler Vaden's guitar slinging WAY before I had ever heard of Jason Isbell or Mike McCready (but I love them too).
Jimbo Hart is an epic bass player!
Sadler Vaden & Mike McCready that is a pretty good guitar combo, the guy singing ain't to shabby either.
WHAT?!?!!?! My favorite lead guitarist playing with Jason Isbell???!!! My life is complete...
Rest is icing on the cake, huh?
Awesome I'm 63 and heard some of the best and this rocks.
Saint Micheal McCready… saving souls one note at a time. Praise his name 🙏
Amen
Amen. I love these musicians. 3 guitars. Mike blew me away back when and still❤
Throws me back to the ‘90’s when Mike McCready and band recorded the Mirror Ball album with Neil Young. Some amazing guitar on that vinyl.
I dunno, Sadler is no slouch at all. Great work there honestly on all parts.
Praise Jesus christ fool
Never b another JIMI, RIP
Can't wait until July to see them play Boston!
Me too!!

I'm not from Alabama either but, this is not too shabby.
Love it when the guest has as much fun as the band. This was absolutely killer.
It's the only time McCready can truly shred on guitar...Eddie Vedder hates guitar solos...🤣
@@paolo-n2000 Which hole did you pull that from?
These guys are pretty good , I’m seeing a future in the music business . Thanks for sharing
Wow :-)

👍...💜to you for that beautiful comment! 🙏
MM is just a cool cat !

Stage guests not bad either :)
Again and again, this fills my soul. They know their history
Realize that this song is over 50 (year, like me...). The old days aren't so old.
Mike McCready is the best Guitarist of his generation... Period. His work on Pearl Jam alone would earn that, but toss in Mad Season and Temple of the Dog... Those are 3 of the most important bands of the era. Dude is a MONSTER player.
I agree. I also go as far as putting him up there with Beck Hendrix Vaughn
I back that! Being the old man I am I still can't believe how great that whole period was and Pearl Jam stood at the top.
Mike has always shined! Solid atuff
Such a great video. The interaction between everyone was obviously enjoyed and it shows.

And the band imbibed in the divine tune! The dudes abide!!
Three of my favorite things.
So good an orb dropped in to hang out and jam

Pretty strong guitar line-up right here...

I dunno, I think Jimi might have been impressed with what Stevie Ray did with his song.
Agreed

thanks for holding the camera in the proper orientation!
Ha! Hearing this now on Sirius XM, came to UA-cam to find it and save. First several I found were vertical.

Jason at 3:17 , I'm just going to leave this super tasteful lead right here for y'all. Looks like a great night!
How cool is it to see Mike McCready up on stage jamming Little Wing with Jason Isbell? Can't beat it!
Poor recoding, but I appreciate him ending his set with Hendrix. Mad props for many racial/cultural/musical reasons.
Goddamn McMelty....
Very freaking cool.
Frett and strut your hour upon the stage this is Jimmy’s music
Damn good…
Saint Jimi too, this IS his song
My goodness Mr Richardson, I am old enough to remember Jimi, but that was a brilliant cover! Thank you.
Look up Garry Moore's covers of Jimi's stuff. He did some performance with Mitch Mitchell, and Billy Cox that are historic.

yep
Yup
Wow
Awesome playing! Can’t wait to see Jason in Raleigh next Friday!
3:47 and it starts to cry...
Free Bird !!!
We still yell Free Bird when our fav cover bands play !
I’m 64 and saw them 76’
Thank you Mr. Richardson ... that alone was worth the cost of a ticket ...
Mr McCready, take a bow! Wow!!!
I can't close my eyes. Maybe it's by design so I don't miss the moment.
on my birthday
Muscle Shoals
Fire
this is amazing. thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just let mike play brother. He got this
SERIOUSLY though
You act as if Jason was a detriment. Both were great. Fabulous jam
Whole song was “off” from the start - turn up Mike for heaven sakes
@@lockedtrunk Jasons lead guitarist could have buried them both. Kinda disappointed with Mike here
Wow! What a treat!
Isbell
Thanks for the correction.

And what do you play?
Sound quality of a cell phone may not be the best, but without the phone, there would be no video or audio to bitch about.
If you want to listen to Jimi, don’t click on a video of a bunch of guys covering Jimi. And clean out the big dump in your pants.
I got some bose and it sounds really good
