For Me, Star Wars ended after Revenge Of The Sith and Return Of The Jedi in 1983 and 2005 and The Mandalorian ended after 2 seasons and the EU is awesome and still remain canon.

I learned of the new Mando film nearly 3 days after the news broke. I then learned that Lucasfilm announced the film on their website, but didn’t even bother going to read it. I read some posts on X but after reading just a few it occurred to me: I couldn’t have cared less. The Mando movie announcement spontaneously confirmed what I’ve thought and shared with others, but never experimentally “tested”: My own personal notion that Star Wars is dead. After all, The Mandolorian was the only Star Wars property I had any interest in, with the lone exception of Rogue One. After S3, I’d even gave up on The Mandalorian which was easy to do because there’s no new Mandalorian episodes coming. It’s easy to quit something that you can’t get, but then came the announcement and still I just couldn’t care about it. Even my wife asked me if I’d heard about the film announcement, as we both enjoyed the show. When I looked at her to to reply, my expression must have said it all because she almost immediately asked “No? You’re just not feeling it?” I smiled and told her that she just knows me too well. I watched (painfully) the full uncut 43 minute panel where she made the quote "I enjoy making men uncomfortable". She was NOT referring directly to the men in the film, and it was not really taken out of context. It was referring to any men watching her films and seeing things about themselves that they may not have otherwise seen, and getting uncomfortable about it. There seems to be an almost reverse gaslighting about that quote, where she's given a pass because it's "out of context". It's not.

Today's trend in the film industry was started as an inclusivity for underrepresented groups to borderline discriminatory for how hellbent they're on pushing this ideology. They pick and choose whoever they want based on gender and race, not their actual skill in the given field of work.
The one thing that always makes me laugh at some of these female hero that are doing all this stuff on screen. Is that they will have perfect makeup on a lot of the time. Especially when they show Rey living in the desert all her life by herself. And she still has makeup.

I figured out a workaround for this problem until we can come up with a permanent solution. All we need is a male filmmaker like say, George Lucas, to say that he identifies as a woman. If more good male filmmakers did this in the entertainment industry, we can get on with business as usual.
After writing LOTR, Tolkien briefly considered writing a sequel series where another dark threat rose, and then decided not to go through with it. George Lucas should have done the same thing, ending the Star Wars story where justice and the Jedi had been restored. These weren't stories that needed continuations. These weren't like historical, real life epics taking place in messy worlds where happy endings don't happen. There's nothing wrong with liking that sort of thing, but LOTR and Star Wars exist in the realm of myth and theme. They exist to show watchers that evil is real, and that it can be defeated with friendship and determination. Unfortunately, we live in a world where stories are owned by big corporations who want to cash in on them, and/or use them as vehicles to promote their twisted political ideologies. The story of Star Wars is ultimately the story of how a culture went from venerating its heroes and passing on positive values, to a culture that elevated Victimhood and envy to supreme moral goods.
Telling your audience of potential customers that you want to make half of them uncomfortable would have been unthinkable by Disney 20 years ago. You would have gotten a blistering phone call from the studio head, reminding you how "we're in the business of making money" and "WTF is wrong with you?" followed up by sending you on a week-long, groveling apology tour.

Years ago, probably around the time of The Force Awakens, Rich Evans made a comment that remains extremely relevant and few people seem to appreciate: "Star Wars is played out and there's nothing more to do with it." Yes, everything Star Wars in the Disney era is just pastiche and recycled garbage because LucasFilm is filled with talentless identify junky hacks who hire the same to make trash. But beneath that is the fact that the themes were explored and the were stories told in the Original Trilogy. Even a talented writer would struggle to come up with where to take the franchise creatively and thematically. Which is why you need a lot of extremely talented writers to try and crack that nut. But that would require hiring at least a few white men and you can't have that.
You could literally have threats from outside the galaxy coming in, or you could have the characters going to a different galaxy. Or get this, star wars galaxy has been slowly colliding with another and blah. Anything would be better than a Rey movie....

I have no feeling for either film. They won't, but they would need Cara Dune back and a team up with Greef Karga. Maybe even an Ahsoka appearance in that time line. Grogu needs to get blown up. Even with that it's a "hard sell" for me. Maybe when the disc comes out.

We haven't had a single director come forward and try to tell an original story in good faith for the Star Wars universe. Anyone who has even remotely tried has been reeled in or fired. Has anyone heard Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy express a single independent thought on Star Wars? Just ONE will suffice? I’ve not heard her comment once on Star Wars, other than to say it’s about time a woman made a Star Wars film. Why is now the time?
It’s farcical that Disney considers a *documentary* film maker capable of directing a film based entirely on fantasy, which is on the opposite end of the film making spectrum compared to documentary films, that literally document reality. 🤷♂️

I’m only here for your erudite, acerbic takes, and weird pronunciation of ‘simultaneously’. ‘Mando’ (conceived of and developed by a male-presenting, competent writer) delayed the inevitable by a few years; the fandom shuffling towards the exit got distracted by a not-completely-ersatz ‘Star Wars’, and watched for a while until Kennedy vindictively spiked it because young idealistic Luke appeared, while Iger looked on: “Good, good. Now bring me ‘The Acolyte’!”
I won't believe any new Star Wars films are being made/released until a trailer is released...and even then I won't be watching the movies themselves anyway.
Hollywood in general, and Disney/Lucasfilm in particular, have devolved into a population of psychological Norma Desmond clones. Everything is melodrama. Everything is about "MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!" So many egos expressing their petty vanities to the exclusion of the actual product that produces the actual money that pays them to be so petty and so vain. It's like an entire corporation of robots all screaming "Who will be next to worship MEEEEE!!!!!?" George Lucas became rich and famous for creating something people liked. These people want to be rich and famous first and, being actually "THEM!", they expect we will love every P.O.S. they make. It's backwards. It's nuts. And it's destroying the Walt Disney Company. Today's trend in the film industry was started as an inclusivity for underrepresented groups to borderline discriminatory for how hellbent they're on pushing this ideology. They pick and choose whoever they want based on gender and race, not their actual skill in the given field of work.

I figured out a workaround for this problem until we can come up with a permanent solution. All we need is a male filmmaker like say, George Lucas, to say that he identifies as a woman. If more good male filmmakers did this in the entertainment industry, we can get on with business as usual.

After writing LOTR, Tolkien briefly considered writing a sequel series where another dark threat rose, and then decided not to go through with it. George Lucas should have done the same thing, ending the Star Wars story where justice and the Jedi had been restored. These weren't stories that needed continuations. These weren't like historical, real life epics taking place in messy worlds where happy endings don't happen. There's nothing wrong with liking that sort of thing, but LOTR and Star Wars exist in the realm of myth and theme. They exist to show watchers that evil is real, and that it can be defeated with friendship and determination. Unfortunately, we live in a world where stories are owned by big corporations who want to cash in on them, and/or use them as vehicles to promote their twisted political ideologies. The story of Star Wars is ultimately the story of how a culture went from venerating its heroes and passing on positive values, to a culture that elevated Victimhood and envy to supreme moral goods.

Telling your audience of potential customers that you want to make half of them uncomfortable would have been unthinkable by Disney 20 years ago. You would have gotten a blistering phone call from the studio head, reminding you how "we're in the business of making money" and "WTF is wrong with you?" followed up by sending you on a week-long, groveling apology tour.

Yes, everything Star Wars in the Disney era is just pastiche and recycled garbage because LucasFilm is filled with talentless identify junky hacks who hire the same to make trash. But beneath that is the fact that the themes were explored and the were stories told in the Original Trilogy. Even a talented writer would struggle to come up with where to take the franchise creatively and thematically. Which is why you need a lot of extremely talented writers to try and crack that nut. But that would require hiring at least a few white men and you can't have that.
You could literally have threats from outside the galaxy coming in, or you could have the characters going to a different galaxy. Or get this, star wars galaxy has been slowly colliding with another and blah.
Anything would be better than a Rey movie....

I have no feeling for either film. They won't, but they would need Cara Dune back and a team up with Greef Karga. Maybe even an Ahsoka appearance in that time line. Grogu needs to get blown up. Even with that it's a "hard sell" for me. Maybe when the disc comes out.

I was pretty much done after the original trilogy and the only reason I watched the prequels was because my friend said wanna go see a movie and had no interest in the sequels before any of them were out. So they can do whatever they from here on out. I don’t care
We haven't had a single director come forward and try to tell an original story in good faith for the Star Wars universe. Anyone who has even remotely tried has been reeled in or fired. If it's not propaganda it's fanservice or base-level fanfiction and those are no good to the Star Wars universe either. Good Star Wars is invisible because when it works you never notice it.

Favreau's Mando movie is Stage III Star Wars Grief: Bargaining. And Shareem blah blah's movie? That's just Disney telling everyone that they don't care about money, good art, or the audience. The movie instead will be a _ritual_ made to honor Disney's bizarre and insatiable gods.
