So what if I have a lots and lots of clips and I’m trying to sync them with music and add cool transitions using 3d camera and stuff how do I approach this? Do I cut my things in Pr pro and use dynamic link or do I just cut the whole thing in AE even tho it’s a lot more time consuming and what if I have more episodes do I precompose all the scenes from one episode and later choose which clips to use from that episode after cutting more episodes?
Everyone's workflow is a little different but I would would sync the music and do a rough edit (no transitions yet) in Premiere first. Then use dynamic link to bring specific clips into After Effects that need more advanced effects.
@@nezby3945 I see your point and I completely agree with it. Most people try to answer this when in reality, there is no easy answer. It's just not satisfying to hear or say, which is why no one does. It depends (another unsatisfying answer) on your project. *WALL OF TEXT ALERT* Let’s say you have 3 Scenes, exterior, interior stairs, interior living room. A woman and man are outside walking to his place. He’s talking, but she isn’t listening. Words are literally coming from his mouth. They sound muffled but the text is clearly visible and says “blah, blah blah blah blah. Blah blahhh blah blah.” They enter the building, walk up the stairs and he’s still talking. They enter his apartment and sit on his couch. “Are you listening?” floats from his mouth, lingers, then pops like a bubble. “I can’t do this” she says. Then hauls a** out of there. You COULD cut them all in Pr, but they wouldn’t have the fancy typography and tracking you would get from Ae. So maybe you could divide them into three clips within Pr. Each “clip” in Pr would be dynamically linked to Ae. So, the exterior “clip” once opened in Ae would have all the effects and edits. Same goes for the other 2 “clips”. That would make the staircasing a lot more manageable, depending on the amount of shots. Don’t forget about audio. You can dynamically edit audio clips right from Ae in Audition. PS I’m no professional by any means or stretch of the imagination. Just thought I would add my two cents from past experiences. PPS I’m not procrastinating by typing all of this. hella helpful video but i still want to make sure i understand before i spend the money. if im wanting to do gaming edits, i should make the rough draft with all my clips synced to music and put together how i want on premiere, then when i go to do my effects, transitions, etc, i should dynamic link it to after effects. which should save on my premiere sequence? thanks again. edit: scrolled down like 10 comments and saw the same question asked and answered lol
Basically, Premier Pro and After Effects being separate products is a money grab. Premier Pro is purposely limited so you can only do basic editing in it. You then have to pay a fee to access an entirely new piece of software with it's own separate subscription. Modern video editors like CapCut or even free ones like Davinci Resolve, do it all in one application and don't need a clunky link system to tie in two pieces of software that should have been one to begin with.
I know this is and old video but if you see this 1) thank you this explained so much and 2) I use a green screen and bunch of on screen text, would i do that in AE (like almost every clip) Thanks again!
Thanks. I'd like to know if you might be able to let me know which is better for doing basic topic motion effects (e.g., burning embers, hazing, and moving icons) such as in the Naruto OST mashup videos by Markie S (aka Markie) on UA-cam.
I know I know premiere is for editing and AE for effects, but premiere runs like shit, and you have to imagine what you are actually going to end up with........for example I want to have three strips of video panning horizontally on three sections of the screen as a solid layer changes colors on the backgorund.. in AE you doit just as I explained it, group your clips together into comps put the comps on a main comp scale, keyframe, grab ON THE SAME screen that you see the clips....badaboom you are done...not in premiere.
Thank you very much for the video! So if I do an effect in after effects (Displacement Map) and I want this particular one to be applied to all my clips, I bring in the whole timeline from premiere to after effects?

Nice content, dude. Concise videos are rare these days. Keep it up. Subbed instantly.

its called *after* effects, because it should be used *after* premiere

The best explanation I've heard yet.

Thanks! Now I know what to keep using!
thanks, but I'm kinda new to all of this and I am wondering which should i learn first, I'm kinda confused at this point
Premiere Pro is more generally applicable to editing and is easier to learn. I'd go with thag
Go with After effects first, once you master it, premier is easy
really needed this, such a good explanation thx a lot!
IT HELPED A LOT THNX BUD
what about subtitles if i add subtitles in premier pro could i add effects to it later on in after effects
Wich one should i use for gaming montages?
A mix of both would be ideal. I would use Premiere to do sound design and basic cuts then After Effects for any transitions
@@DelaneyMedia But if do you put all clips together inside AE or just 1 clip at a time?
after effects is good for 1 min 3 min or 10min montages or videos with high effects pr is for ike 4hour long videos etc
Nice one 💝
Thanks
I was overwhelmed by the your camera, audio and you. :)

"a staircase of clips" - thats all i do :p
what if you’re adding captions with motion etc? better to be done one Ae?
Premiere has a lot of good tools for keyframing motion too, so it can be done in Premiere.
