I sold my GoPro 12 and want to replace it with either the Insta360 Ace Pro or DJi Action 4. It took me a long time to decide, so go on this journey with me.
I picked the Action 4 due to the overall look and it being a pure action camera.

dji looks so much better, the blacks are actualy black, no redish tint like the ace pro.
i got all 3, the GP12, Action4 & Ace pro…i prefer the A4.
I think the audio quality of DJI Osmo Action 4 is much better. In my opinion.

Awesome content, new sub here, you're definitely one of the most informative content creators. I like the fact you show the real results. I'm still using an action 2. Gopro Max, rx02. I've been eyeballing the zv-e1. I create metal detecting videos, and always looking for a great camera
Thanks that means a lot ! I have the zve1 and not sure if I will keep it. I got the a7iv for Xmas and that’s too much $$ in camera gear ha. If the zve1 took better photos and had an evf then that would be a different story. So that makes me look at the a6700. Always changing gear up maybe dumb but it sure is fun

Well for me the action 4 is the winner, not by much. Yeah the ace pro has some cool stuff, but still not better. And 10 bit D-Log M really matter.

I use both. I love dji action 4, but i have to admit that insta360 is better. Although there is no 10bit dlog, i am sure most of the vloggers do not use color grading either for their video youtube. Neither they don't know how to, or are just lazy to color grading. 😂
I guess its a matter of taste. I think most don't really want to take the time to CG action cam footage. A4 now has 10bit in normal color.

Insta ace pro kinda more like autocorrect everything too much, sometimes it give falls colour in low light.. But Dji osmo action 4 can let you do so many things manually, even in low light if u r a pro and can set functions manually you'll realise it out perform insta acepro
you didn't mention if you were using pure video for night footages ? or night mode ?. hdr on ? 60 fps or 3 fps ? shparness level ?
Dont use vivid color on ace pro, look ok to me, only on that instance you got super red, looked vivid settings
Great review, the fact that you started out with these are two hottest camera and didn't include the GoPro, you had me sold. My first choice was the DJI A4 but I opt'd for the Ace Pro due to the Clarity Zoom, on screen features and of course, the low light shooting which IMO beats it's two direct competitors. I do have a question on your video when you did the night comparison in PureVideo mode, did you also enable the Low Light Stabilizer in the menu? Makes a big difference ;) They are both strong cameras and you proved that by the hard decision you had to make. Every choice is a good choice as long as it suits your use and your needs, that's my motto. Congrats on the A4 :)
I wondered the same thing when I did the nighttime shot. I checked my settings and it shows on, but I’m not sure if it was at the time because it doesn’t look correct. Absolutely the ace pro is better in low light and all the videos before me prove that from other UA-camrs, but my thing is I don’t really use an action camera and low light if can help it. So the bright sunshine was more important to me, and my overall choice.
@@ScottsReviews I made that same mistake, there's a glitch with that setting, it automatically shuts off if your ace pro turns off, or you switch modes, you have to keep enabling it lol I did a night shooting the first time I had the camera and then night shots was good but stabilization was off, but once I put that low Light stabilizer on it improved the stabilization. It still does 'jitter' with quick movements but the cpu is working so hard with night shooting, i'm not surprised. I got mine because I do a lot of low light shooting.
If only insta360 fixed the red/pink skin tones. It’s really hard to colour grade the pink away.
The problem is the Lens and the screen in Insta360 Pro. It Don't has Protection and the screen doesn't security.
Cannot decide. I'm new to the action cam world and I like everything about the DJI more, but it's sooo dark, which would be natural in the dark obviously, but in the footage from horse/donkey, way darker than the Insta. I will mostly use either one for vlogging and hiking/backpacking/camping/kayaking/foraging, so no extreme sports...any recommendations? I also like the pause and continuous recording feature of the Insta Ace Pro. I've been watching videos for days...each has it's good/bad.
I think you have made up your mind. Ace Pro. I think they have updated the HDR issues allowing you to turn it off. I say give it a try with a company that has a good return policy. Don’t buy direct. I prefer the Action 4 due to the colors and focus distance. Ha. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

Very nice review. I chose the I360 AP after researching the A4 and P3. I've been using (and will probably keep using) the GoPro 12, have used the GP 10, 8, and 5, and I'm very VERY tired of "thumscrew disease!" Yes, I know there's one with the I360 AP, but you don't have to use it as the main attachment mechanism. My use case for the I360 AP is for vlogging, I'm past my prime for any action adventures and now I'm biding my time and enjoying my retirement. I'm a hobbyist photographer and musician, trying to divide my passion for each equally. I think the A4 is a great camera, and I almost went with it. 😎
For me right now the A4 and P3 work so well together, with the mic used on both and matching footage. It's the HDR skin tones on the AP that kill it for me. Thanks! I wonder what GP13 will do to catch up...

Scott, really nice comparison. It is a tough choice, the DJI has the color and focus edge but the new innovations offered by the Ace Pro make it so tough to pass up. Hopefully Insta360 will do a firmware update to update both focus and color but sometimes I think Insta360 is more interested in rolling out new products, then firmware updates. Really like the Pocket 3 and taking a wait and see on Ace Pro. Oh, BTW Happy Retirement!

@@kaltask1That is true, but for close focusing you can use diopters. Not ideal though for UA-camrs who want their face to dominate the screen.
Both look great. Depends on your needs I guess. At least you compared two similar cameras. The Ace Pro is perhaps a bit hybrid but they probably need to address the close-up focus for the vloggers. But better options for vlogging if that's your thing. Nice dog. :)
In my opinion the DJI in deed does look better.
Nevertheless I chose the Ace pro because of the low light stabilization that can't be fixed in post production.

@@MiyagisRant I sold mine separately. I sold the camera and base separate. Ppl tend to lose or break either and want to replace them. That is how I wound up, keeping my accessories and using them on the action 4. I did not plan it that way, but it worked out great.

Vloggers trying to tell people which is the best action camera. As someone who works in action sports, GoPro is still king. I don’t see anybody using DJI cameras.
