Yes, I remember my old PC with a "normal" sound system was just screeching and did not deliver deep tones as here. A note: the music composer is Francis Mercher, father of Jordan - the software owner.

I played this on an old IBM shitbox as a kid and if you don't have the sound card the game actually has an alternative 8-bit soundtrack which is what I heard on that machine. Because I played it with that as a kid I find it really charming and nostalgic. The sound the chompers make is weirdly intimidating.
47:12 this part is really dope! parts like this is why I used to love platformers, nowadays you'd rarely find a platformer with this much creativity and surprises
One of the game that I got the chance to played in younger days on computer and never beat the game yet 🤣. Out of curiosity for what its like after stage 11. So, I am coming for this video ^^. SCHLAUCHI is doing a great job here with the entire playthrough 👏👏👏. A great Prince Of Persia playthrough here, World of Longplays 👍.
People in 1990 could not imagine that every movement of computer game's character could be so smooth and realistic. Jordan Mechner could:) love this game. The music is fantastic
i took me a looong time to beat this game back in the day But i did it Luv Prince of Persia the sound efx and graphics were massive for a 1990 PC game! it's nice to know that it was happy ending after all :)
An hour was still a long time as a kid, but the pressure. Oh god the pressure. I suppose now I can just watch this instead of putting myself through the time limit stress ;)
36/36s : The first AC alpha aplha would-be project supposedly had the Prince instead of Altaïr as main protagonist. But it's only a rumour coming from unidentified Ubisoft insiders so...
Not exactly... Ever heard of a game called "Exile"? If not, you'd better check it out. Some details of the plot are so identical that it can be considered copy/paste.
SaitohYatate who cares about the plot? Gameplay is the key in video games. AC games still live from the Prince of Persia movement+fighting basic concept.
And for some reason I remember fighting jafar was like block block block block block cool I finally hit him once block block block block block block...
You know, on level 3 there is a way of getting the life potion 2ice. All you need to do is go and get it, then get beyond the gate and commit suicide, then go and open the exit door. Then before you leave the level, go all the way back and get it a 2nd time. Also there is a level you sometimes see in the credits that you can't play. I used to have the original 1989 floppy version of this game and you have to play the game 2ice to finish it, on the 2nd run some of the levels are slightly different, such as level 6 where the whole in front of the gig soldier is smaller and if you hand onto the edge of it, he simply walks over you sending you plummeting to your death. Sometime there is a potions level after level 1, a security level!
48:40 And he beat the mouse to the finish. And that mouse had a much harder time getting out of Jaffar's dungeon. I'd like someone out there to mod this game so you can play as that mouse.
The Music, cut scenes and ending are better on the Genesis CD and TG-16 CD versions but the sound effects are better on the PC Version, The Graphics are a little more sharp on the PC Version.
Wait a minute.... my info may be incorrect here, but the original PoP was made single-handedly by Jordan Mechner.... sooooooo, the F is that list on the credits screen?
this looks.... IN.CREDIBLY difficult! without even having played it, you can tell the controls are wonky in that you HAVE to return to a certain state or face a certain direction before doing a new 'thing', all the while the gate timings seem stupidly and unwarrantedly hard in some places. oh.mai.GAWDDDDD i'm glad for youtube (and more modern game handling) where i never have to even _try_ to waste the last vestiges of my happiness on such a game. this is coming from someone who's played the original pitfall and pitfall II as well, which are ridiculous exercises in futility themselves as far as game handling... :O
In the Mega Drive / Genesis Version, during the PC's fifth level, you can pretend the Dark Prince to steal the large health potion and use it for yourself. Is it also possible on the PC version?
I do believe I watched the whole thing didn't see him use one of those potions that made you fall slowly and survive long falls... Were those a cheat or something? I remember we used those when I played with my cousins as a kid.

Those are some very realistic drinking sounds for a 1990 PC game.

@@bogdantanasescu3793 DOS 1990
Yeah, Jordan recorded his 15-year old brother when he was drinking booze to make it sound realistic.
You definitely needed a sound card for this game

Let me tell you, this prince doesn't skip any drinks. Even the poisoned ones.
For sure, he likes a good booze.
Wrong. He missed some at least in the second and the fifth level. :D
*~Persian **_NRG_** Potion~*
.. there's a Maniak Loose in the PaLace ! .. jus Runnin' Around Fighting , Drinkin' and Trying to KidNap the SuLtan's Daughter :-S .. ;-)
It's totally safe to drink potions you randomly find in the dungeons, right?
This game is a timeless classic!
20:15 very thirsty . Great vid btw. I could watch this game for hours because of the good memories.
47:12 this part is really dope! parts like this is why I used to love platformers, nowadays you'd rarely find a platformer with this much creativity and surprises
Last time I tried to do that part the ghost kept the sword in its hands and killed me!
whats so special about it lol? days today are much better and its a fact
and so mysterious
@@KARTIKEYA007
Back in 1989, it would have been something special for a platformer.
Really?? @@KARTIKEYA007 actually a lot of visuals but when about THIS creativity.. lacking.
Adlib music in intro is very atmospheric, FM synthesis as its best.
Always loved that game, and was very happy to complete it back in the day. The combat was deeper than it first seemed.
Such a classic game
One of the best games ever!
Publisher: "All right, so how hard is this game going to be?"
Jordan Mechner: "Yes."
I feel like I'm having a heart attack every time you make a jump in this game.
I love the silent era vibe of the cutscenes.
Very effective. Show, don't tell.

Jordan rotoscoped the Prince's movements from recording his brother. True story!
Played this game on my Sega Master System for hours on end as a kid amazing game never did quite manage to finish it though.
My childhood memories....

Strange to think that if this hadn't existed then neither would Assassin's Creed.
fact ?
Well, I wished recent AC wouldn't exist in the first place. It became a dumbed down piss poor franchise.

That rat/mouse/mice cemented my love for rodents forever
34:10 cartoon physics, lol
26:25 so much for the usefulness of the floating potion. You just needed one extra health bar to pass on it
jumping off that hight will kill you instantly
it all started here the classic Prince of Persia to Prince of Persia the forgotten sends ...
I went till Level 8 of this game. Could never go any further.
I played the one with the crappier sound effects. I still have them embedded in my brain.

great game classic of classic
2:52 I swear these slabs played mario bros' theme's intro
I just realized. 1:20 is the same hour glass Jaffar used to try to kill Princess Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin

I played it in black and white, not in colour.
Ugh there was always a glitch so it locked up when the princess heard the door open
Remind me of Flashback Quest of Identity on genesis
It's easy to see why Pressure-plate based security systems fell out of favor.
I remember playing this and always freezing with the guillotine doors. I never got to rescue the princess :(.
