Is it really that serious? If you want the 300 so much why not just buy the original comic in CGC? It’s not like you can display these books showing the cover. Only the spines.
@@ShadyDBZ4 I understand your point but think of it from the consumer's perspective. You paid for something you're not getting anymore and that's not exactly pleasant. Especially from a collector's standpoint - why would I be happy to get something I already have when I expected something different.
I already sold my old copy in preparation to replace it with this one and ultimately, the move cost me money to get the new one that I wanted more but isn't coming how I wanted. So I spent money to stay the same. Not fun.
On lighter note - they're saying Marvel is sending out the dust jackets for free to fix this kind of problem. I hope I can get my hands on one 🙂

This was the Spider-Man of my childhood as well. Very excited to get this omnibus. Hope it’s release doesn’t get pushed back further.

This is my era spidey and I just love it. This stuff got me through a lot of stress I had at school at the time. Always brings a smile to my face. Thanks Omar. I managed to pick this up the second time it was printed so I won't be picking this up this time.

Classic logo on the spine is an absolute win on this. Don’t really mind the cover being changed but I understand (to a degree) what people are annoyed about. Book looks great and I’m happy for all who want to read this and enjoy this! Great video as always, Omar! :) Algorithm gang!

Great Omnibus ! My very first omnibus I got 2 years ago when I started collecting omni format.
I managed to grab it before it went out of print again - enjoy whoever grabs this.
It is an awesome read and one to be treasured for many years to come.
Now we just need a MARK BAGLEY OMNIBUS collection & my life will be complete ! :)

I really want to appreciate the comic industry for keeping the price same from 2011 to 2021.Literally every other collectible companies be it hot toys or statues have their prices increased sometimes twice fold in this time period,yeah yeah I know the raw materials reason and all,but still it's a great sight to see both printings having same price

Paper and print quality has gone down, and number of pages per book is dropping dramatically.
I personally like the standard cover better. I don't like the recolored black suit from the DM one, which looks more blue than black and way too shinny. However, I like the most the ASM 300 cover. That new spine is an improvement (let's not talk about the FF anymore 😒).
Had the standard cover,sold it,preordered the DM. Kind of wish I had gotten the standard again.Really like the spine font here,unlike the new FFspine.great video,Omar.very surprised that Marvel went with the Turkey printer on a major character like Spidey.Sometimes I feel like they dont have a clue..lol.
Totally agree and resonate with this being the Spidey of our (GenX) generation it certainly was mine! Loved this time of Spidey so much fun. What i really liked what TM added to Spidey was not just the crazy webbing but the larger eyes. For me it just gave him a bigger bolder look which I always thought looked cool and happy they continue today.
I have the original standard cover printing so won't be getting this but can understand why folks may be upset not getting the originally solicited 300 DM cover. Would have been cool and better than this recolored on white from before.

Beautiful. Wasn't on my list, but I might need to get this!! That said, I feel a little bummed for those who did pre-order based on the solicited image, frankly, that just sucks.

Not saying the quality on Marvel omnibuses have been great,but you’re going to get laughed at,because a book doesn’t fit your standards.Look at the recent “Uncanny X Force” they turned the cover from white to black,but still kept the original artwork. Also the paper is thick like the original. So it was very faithful to the first print,and so it was sold out very quickly. There are changes to this one,it’s not as thick and as you pointed out the 300s are missing on the cover.I don’t know if I’ll get this one,because I want a reprint of the Spider-Man vs. Venom Omnibus. Still I might get it,because I like Black Spider-Man,and the stories seem interesting enough. However I will argue The original Amazing Spider-Man Omnibuses 2,3 and 5 are better quality. That’s just my opinion,however if we got a reprint of the Spider-Man vs. Venom Omnibus. I would definitely buy it!:)🤗
This era of Amazing Spider-Man introduced me to the character in the comics. My first comic book was Amazing Spider-Man #301. I missed my opportunity to get this omnibus at a discount and got Grant Morrison's X-Men instead, and I missed my window. Honestly, while I appreciate that this is mostly dedicated to the Michelinie and McFarlane duo, 8 really wish this was a complete Michelinie ASM omnibus, and I'm not aware of there being another (or however many more) omnibus to round out his entire run. Michelinie and early JMS defined my love and understanding of Spider-Man at his best when I was first introduced to Spider-Man in the comics after falling in love with comic book characters from the Marvel and DC animated series from the 90s and early 00s.
The 300s would have been nice, but a Black Suit cover with the rich content this book offers more than makes up for it, can’t wait to have it in the collection
Man I am SUPER bummed out about the cover. I was looking forward to Issue 300 color and ordered the DM variant from ToW.
I also preordered the #300 DM cover so yeah, very disappointed that Marvel has changed the dustjacket. I know it’s the contents that matters but locking in the cover of choice is one of the points of preordering.
I hope that ASM volume 5 doesn’t have the new font. I do prefer it but 1-4 have uniform spines. Untold tales also has that nice logo so we might be in trouble.

Ordered this from my local comic shop, even though it costs a bit more than amazon because he deserves it and doesn't screw over his workers. I've heard good things about this period -- from before I started reading comics -- of having both Michelinie's quality writing combined with McFarlane's quality art work (terrible writer, as I recall) and I'm looking forward to it!

I loved the sin eater story because for me it showed a darker side of peter parker. That is one of my favorite stories with spiderman, but venom is my favorite spiderman villain
I was really excited about the 300 cover. So much so that I preordered a copy even though I have the first printing. With this reversion, I have now requested a cancellation of my preorder with hopes to move the money to another Omnibus.
So disappointing.
They need to get their covers game together. ... Pretty upset they didn't go with the solicited dm cover.

I'm still excited to get my copy of this omni, been wanting to get this for a long time. However, I'm still annoyed they changed that ASM #300 cover back to the original DM cover they did. If I knew in advanced, I'd have gotten the standard cover instead. Sigh, what can we do.
I have the 2nd printing with the standard cover. Only difference with it and this 3rd printing is the spine image and title font.
This era gave us so much good Silver Sable material, too 🥰 I want a Silver Sable & the Wild Pack Omnibus to go with this ASM & the adjectiveless McFarlane omnibus!
Just took a look at some Silver Sable and the Wild Pack covers. I did not realize the run had gone on for a few years. I got the first issue but just couldn't afford to add another series to my subs at my local comic book shop. At that time I was using what little bit was left over from my allowance after buying lunch during my school. I'd definitely be interested in an omnibus or epic collection of this Silver Sable run. Too bad Sony killed the Silver & Black movie that would have introduced her to the larger movie going audience.
@@maximusaurelius9906I just recently happened upon the one-shot they gave her a couple years ago & numbered it #36 -- there's a Steranko variant cover that I had to buy _several_ copies of to get graded. It's remarkable, you should look on eBay for it.
Even if you just get a reader copy. The whole story is her killing neo-Nazis, it's glorious 😍

I missed out on most of these issues when they originally came out. I believe my first issue of the Amazing Spider-Man was either the Assassination Nation issue with Sabertooth on the cover or the Acts of Vengeance issue with Magneto. So my only Mcfarlane Amazing Spider-Man issue is the one with Hulk on the cover. I did pick up this omni already so I'll finally get to read the run and more importantly see the art that led to Marvel giving Mcfarlane his own Spidey book and eventually to his departure to launch Image comics and Spawn.
I sold mine & had planned to replace it with the new cover #300 but now I think I will just skip this , I already got the digital copy's of epic collections so I'm good with that
I love getting treats like this I never had the chance to enjoy but kind of a bummer I really did want the cover to issue 300 man that burns me haha hmm DM preorders what can I say. I finish Roger Stern omni than go to this one from what I understand.
I think there is an Omni Gap after Stern Omni and before the Michelinie and McFarlane collection which is the Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz run as well as having J.M DeMatteis Kraven's Last Hunt and Ann Nocenti's Mad Dog Ward and some other stories, this gap is currently partially covered by the Epics ASM: Ghosts of the Past (but this starts at 259 so a gap of issues 253-258) and ASM: Kraven's Last Hunt but even if you can get those I think there is still a gap (ASM 273-288 which should eventually be part of ASM Epic Vol 16).

Honestly, the changes not only don't bother me, but they make me more excited to get this book. I wasn't getting the issue #300 cover anyway, and I love the spine change with the new image. Building my Spider-Man backlog just got a whole lot better! 😁

I'm probably going to confuse things here a bit, but I have a first printing of this book (My 1st Omni!!) which I 100% purchased from my (then) LCS (Silver Snail in Ottawa, now closed).
The dust jacket is white, and has Spidey in his red and clue costume, not the black one.
Not sure where they purchased it from, but for I seemed to have purchased a book market version from a LCS.
Regardless, still love this book... This was the run that I grew up with as a kid!

That's so weird. I have what I assume is the newer printing of this book since I bought it a year or so ago, but the spine of the slip cover uses the same font and picture as the original print. However the inside cover has the white cover with Spider-Man on it. It's like a weird mix of the two editions.
I'm really excited to get my first Spiderman Omni but really sad and upset with the updated DM cover. I requested the old 300 at the LCS for pre-order. If I would have known about this updated cover, I would have gone with the standard cover instead. It'll be great to re-live this era of Spidey though and I can't wait to dig in. Wow. I really want to make this Spiderman Omnibus my FIRST ever! I grew up with Spiderman and started collecting in the 1990s. I am wondering if there is an Omnibus that covers the issues after the 320s?

i bought this about a week ago... really liking it, but there's a few pages in mine toward the back with the caption America stuff where there are small almost burn like holes in the pages... i bought it new and sealed from my local comic shop so im wondering if this has something to do with an error at the printer and if other people ran into a similar problem with their copies?

I read this recently (up to 310-311 don't rememeber exactly) and i found it kinda plain and outdated, especially the narrition. It feels like a 70's comic mora than a late 80's. Straczynski's run is my favourite and still unmatched

Dm cover switch is disappointing
Really disappointed with this, marvel is cranking these omni’s out like crazy but the quality control is slipping and I’ve definitely cut back on my purchases because of it
Weird I thought there was two DM covers for this reprint (one being the 300 cover and the other being the one Omar received) but when I check now it’s just the two; really hope they fix it or allow cancellation at this point

Do you have recommendations for beginners wanting Spider-Man omnibuses ?
You have a few options for starting points, it just depends on what you’re into.
- Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 (early 60s, origins of the character and his supporting cast and villains)
- ASM by Michelinie/McFarlane, the one in this video (awesome 90s art, lots of cool villains, first appearance of Venom)
- Spider-Man vs Venom (this one is kind of like a 90s sampler since it overlaps with a few other omnibuses. It’s very symbiote-centric, so it’s great if you’re a fan of Venom and Carnage)
- ASM by JMS Vol 1 (early 00s, if you prefer modern writing/art, this one’s for you. Lots of new twists and characters introduced)
- Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 1 (early 00s, set in an alternate universe, this is a modernized re-telling of Spidey’s origin focusing on his high school years, no prior knowledge required)
- Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man (also set in the Ultimate universe, but this is one to check out if you’re interested in a Spider-Man that isn’t Peter Parker)
Honorable mentions:
- Spider-Man by Roger Stern. Early 80s, and I hear great things about the writing and stories. It’s in my collection, I just haven’t read it yet because I’m waiting for ASM Vol 5 :p
- Spider-Gwen (same reasoning as Miles, if you’re interested in a wall-crawler that isn’t Peter Parker)

Thicker pages and the binding is different.
So a Omnibus is a big collection? Sorry I’m really new to comics and graphic novels.

Yes, sometimes 1600 pages big. Not for every superhero. Black Panther or Nova doesn't have one. Batman and Spiderman has the most Omnis.
An omnibus is a large collection of usually 25+ issues. They print them for pretty much every popular character. (Spidey, DD, X-men, FF, Cap have alot.) They also print ones for a lot of the events (Infinity Saga, Age of Apocalypse, Annihilation, Dark Phoenix Saga, etc.)
Same goes for DC. They have a crap load of Batman omnis.

None. That was a series called Spider-man Adventures. There are trades of those around

Zero. Todd McFarlane Spider-man Omnibus reprints issues from the adjective-less Spider-Man book (#1-14, 16 and X-Force #4), which was a follow-up to McFarlanes's run on Amazing.

I'm not a big fan of Marvel "improving" on their spines... if it's not broken why fix it??
It is kind of broken. A lot of people complain the white text on black background is too boring. Replacing it with the title logo seems like a reasonable and justified fix.
@@marcelo-ramos not when you don't do it uniformly, this spine I can forgive but the FF4 Vol 2?? There's no way that's an improvement. I get the point but I never saw people complaining on tbhe forums, now I do.
