When I was a small child in the early 90s, I used to have a hulk action figure by toy biz. I used to take it to school with me and I had a small group of friends who had iron man, spiderman, batman and superman. Because my hulk was the biggest and most robust figure, I used to overpower them when we were playing. WWH is the kind of story that version of me would have written 😂
Planet HULK is one of the dopest stories.

I loved this story when it was originally released in singles. I've always been a Hulk fan and often wondered what would happen if the Hulk decided to take over and this story gives us a taste of this. My favorite panel, which may be in the Planet Hulk omni, is a p****d off Hulk standing on the bow of his starship as it hurtles towards Earth. I wasn't getting omnis when the original omni was released so I've got this pre-ordered and going with the Finch cover. For 2025 Hulk omnis, would just love a Hulk 3 omni and continue that run.
I’ve been waiting for this a long time, it’s thicker than I thought it would be. Great story and artwork. It should be here next week.

Sucks the mapping was not changed, it would have made the reading experience a near perfect one.
This would be a hard one to map because so many of the stories overlap. A huge chunk of the tie-ins take place during #1, and the Incredible issues run parallel to the whole story. It's one of those things that worked during the monthly release but can't be cleanly mapped in one book.
@@adamfrey4920 Pretty good point, but you could still get much closer to story-chronological order than this, even if zero overlap is unrealistic.
Lets GOOO ! One of my favorite events EVER ! It felt so PERSONAL. And boy did Hulk go on a powerhouse RIDE in this one !

I have the Collected Edition of World War Hulk, so I'm good.
I love how the llluminati- supposedly the smartest people on earth - copy a failed plan by general Ross from Incredible Hulk #3. You’d have thought that one of those geniuses would have said “hey, should we really be copying a plan that was created by some who has failed multiple times to capture the Hulk?”.
So true! Marvel has never been shy to reuse or outright copy a story idea, no matter the quality - they've been mining that 60's gold mine for over a half century now.
Next week through July have a LOT of omnibus releases and epic collections I’m really looking forward to.

Thanks for the overview Omar! I'll be getting this. I wish Marvel would change their mapping of event Omnis. DC does it right. I would much rather have a Hulk By Pak line of Omnis but this will do for now. Take care and peace everyone.

I already own the original hardcover of the central miniseries and trade paperbacks of the tie-ins as well as the Kindle/Comixology version of the omni's first printing. So should I triple-dip this?
To be honest, I probably won't, at least not yet. That would be a lot of money for hardly any difference. If Marvel ever publishes a third (fourth, fifth or whatever) edition with more of a story-chronological mapping, I'll certainly buy it, but in this case, they haven't given the mapping the TLC I would expect from an omni this expensive.

Why did you say that? There is incredible hulks by greg pak that basically a continuation of World War Hulk has good stories with hulks family and giving green scar one last hoorah. Also, jeff parkers run on red hulk is really good.
Yes, Gary Frank's art in an oversized format is almost enough reason to buy this. But it would mean triple-dipping at over €100 for me, so other omnis with stories I don't have yet take priority at the moment.

Simple question.., is this book/story worth spending 100 bucks to have for all time?
While I love the Hulk, and this event is fine, it loses a few points for not sticking the ending, since we already knew that the Hulk was fighting under false pretences, and the deus ex machina of Tony’s handy-dandy Hulkbusting satellite was just lame.
I was hopping for a better mapping. Pass for me. Will look for the OHC.

I had to skip the spoiler section but can anyone comment on reading order? Does this read well front to back?
It’s the prelude, the event and then all the other series after the five mini. Nothing besides the prelude and after smash is intertwined in between the event issues.

I wont forgive this story for jobbing out the entire x men family.
To be honest this story sucks. Especially compared to Planet Hulk. Felt like they told Pak no major changes before Secret Invasion
Not a bad story IMO but definitely a let down after the awesomeness of Planet Hulk.
To this day Blackest Night remains the gold standard for how an event Omni should be mapped. And it’s the second biggest DC/Marvel Omni of all time too (so a LOT of tie in comics).
I mean, we’re potentially paying $100-$150 for these. Surely it’s not too much to expect a compilation to be mapped like a proper, unified book? Especially when other event omnis manage to do the same within this same genre/industry.
Edit: Infinite Crisis is also outstanding with its mapping, and that’s also a massively chunky book.
That’s what I don’t buy many Marvel omnis. Because of the mapping. DC maps out their omnis but Marvel doesn’t . I don’t see why
@@cjc4426Marvel Omnis only have good mapping for their ongoing series, like Venomnibus or Immortal Hulk omnibus.
The reason is, some people just want to read the event. So having it all in 1 place allows them to have a quick read with their fav story. Trouble is…. They can just buy a TPB hardback if they want that. It’s the cheaper option too.
