Welcome to my theory on Big Chap making his return to Alien Romulus in a cocooned state involving certain methods I explain in the video. Remember, these are just theories and fun in the build up to the films release. Hope you enjoy.

Tom Skerrit character "DALLAS" Muttering "KILL ME....KILL ME.." Still gives me goosebumpss.
The agony in his voice conveys the pain of the process.
It's hard to imagine what pain he is in as his body is slowly being dissolved. But I actually said the same thing last night in much the same torturous way when I tried to watch the new Star Wars Acolyte show....
It reminds me of sleep paralysis. I get it sometimes when I cry out for help I can barely move my mouth
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE whoa!
@@manfmalachi don't watch the sleep paralysis documentary on Netflix if you also have this, it's pretty terrifying. I've had it a few times but the doc shows the demonic figures standing at the end of their beds etc.
It is fascinating just how much of the Alien's abilities( from this franchise) are still very mysterious, especially after all this time. So the idea that it could have a way to cocoon itself as protection, and go into a kind of deep sleep until some very unfortunate people stumble across it, seems like the sort of thing that - "The Perfect Organism" would /could do. I also watched many of these films as a kid. Great memories.👍
Scriptwriters can and will invent new characteristics for every new film, even if they contradict previous films. It's not like they set everything in stone in 1979 and they've been revealing it bit by bit over the sequels.
Anything should be possible but I hope they are careful not to include silliness and contradictions into the franchise.
Exactly, let's hope they do it right.👍
Andysmith?....yeah I know, but my point being that I could believe that the Alien could possibility have the ability to cocoon itself as protection even though it hasn't been shown yet in any of the other films. But if course it has to be done well, for audiences to accept it.
We've never seen their full life cycle as they've always been killed not long after birth
I was 5 years old when I saw Aliens with my dad back in 1988. I fell right in love with it. I remember the facehuggers scared the loving day lights out of me. Aliens has become my favorite movie of all time and I can't wait to see how they expand the story in aliens Romulus. Great video. I love your theories
Thank you very much. We're about the same age although you might have seen it earlier than me 👏 I also excited to see what else they do with this franchise, even if there is a big risk of going wrong 🫣
I have a feeling Big Chap is going to become BIGGER Chap in this film. Some of the promo images show him looking a bit different, especially in the teeth. I have a feeling we didn't see him fully grown yet in ALIEN. He is coming out of a sort of cocoon, so change is expected.
@@OldWorldRadio2 not fully grown is an interesting idea. Hard to fathom how creepier he would be if he was larger 🫣
Chapzilla?
Idk. Big chap was THE grandady so to speak. He was perfect (says Ash) and my favorite Alien from all the films. In Aliens they were just cannon fodder. Could it have made the cocoon with the stuff he made Dallas and Brett into eggs? I hope it does have a connection to the first movie and it has some mention of what happened to David. Sorry but I loved his story in the prequel films. Idk if it's deliberate but the indb cast list is small. Maybe Fassbender will have a small cameo showing the end of the David story. I hope so.
@@HegoDamaskll sneaking in Fassbender and keeping it under wraps would be a miracle in itself and well worth the excitement haha
I dare to theorize that WY knew exactly what was going on on the Nostromo and the Narcissus. They also knew the trajectory of the Narcissus...and therefore the approximate direction of the xeno. There's nothing impossible about that...mathematical surface calculation. It even makes sense that they found the xeno before Ripley, since the Narcissus traveled a much greater distance than the drifting alien due to its mechanical propulsion...
💯 with the last part of your comment for sure. As for the rest, I'm in agreement which is why I loved making the vid so much 😉👍
I watched this when I was 7-8 as well. I’m now a horror movie junkie (but most of all, an Alien fan)….in my 30s.
Glad to hear and I assume you turned out ok just like me? 😜. I'm 40 and I just assume kids are too sheltered these days perhaps. Honestly though, I was more fascinated than scared at 8 years old. I think I found Bambi more upsetting when the mother died...
Hell yeah! 6 when I saw Alien. The bit with Dallas in the vent scared the shit outta me!
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE yeah I’m totally good. I’m going to be 40 this year, so it seems like we both had similar childhoods in that respect hahaha. I’m totally going to get my son into horror. He’s 2 and one of his first stuffed animals was a stuffed Xenomorph 🤣
He’s also already seen about every single Star Wars movie- and paid attention! They’re not exactly “horror” but there was a lot of intense action- so I can only hope he will be ready for true horror at a young age like I was 🤣 (I recall watching Freddy Krueger movies and IT when I was really young, too….)
@@lisachaffee2946 best of luck introducing horror films to your son. Maybe wait a few years though 🤣🤣🤣. I also watched the Freddie Kruger films and had the art book as well. I found those more disturbing as they were intended to shock us with gore. Still funny to know that was my first time watching the brilliant Johnny Depp in that first film.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE yeah we’re waiting till he’s at least in first grade 🤣
We do “scary” Halloween, so I’m curious to see how he will do with that through the years, too 🤣
The Dog Alien in Alien 3 cocooned itself/shed its skin when Ripley went searching for it.Good YT video too👍🏼
That scene when the guy picks up the slimy discarded skin was haunting for me as a kid. Good shout out and thanks for the compliment dude.
This would mean there's an alien queen floating around in space and AVP's queen at the bottom of the ocean, both waiting.
It's possible 👍
AVP is not canon and is for retards.
Cant wait for it... hope is not a disappoint as I really really love Alien!
We're all in the same boat mate, we need to win for this franchise 🤞
This speculation is one of the many gems that makes this particular film so eventworthy. Alvarez certainly has done his homework and he appears to be a FAN. Consequently Romulus could be a nice little teaser into more exposition by future movies. I'd like to see a variation on the premise by DelToro or Peele....the sky is the limit. If handled with some imagination and finesse. I have very high hopes for this presentation. Your overview and critique is very revealing....thanks for the pique of imagination...Kudos!
IF set up correctly, then the bringing in of other talented directors to flesh out further possibilities could be very rewarding for us fans. I would still love Blomkamp to be given his chance to tell the Aliens sequel he began but maybe it would just be better to move on. Thanks for the kind words good sir.
Oh, Big Chap.. the one that got away, along with the Queen.
Alien Isolation’s Web Series (yes, I watched it) actually showed xenomorphs in a state of hibernation floating on debris. So, “the perfect organism” may have survived
The game had a web series? Fan content or promotional stuff for the game?
I really like the idea of Big Chap being recovered and in a cocoon form. BUT finding him out in deep space would be near impossible. The salvage crew from Aliens was damn lucky to find Ripley, with most-likely the Narcissus having a homing beacon. My 2 cents.
Yeah the odds are not even worth thinking about, are they? It's a fun theory if they manage to justify finding him in an intelligent manner but we'll see what happens. I love that the film is making us think so much about it.
This is where I'm at with this. If there's any sense of reality, the odds of finding that cocoon floating around out there would be essentially impossible. It only makes sense if they write in some mechanic where big chap tethered itself to the Narcissus, and WY recovered it along with the ship and Ripley. Whatever ship this new crew boards with the eggs, also has that cocoon and somehow the facehuggers trigger it to open?
@@WHCAudio I'm literally writing my next vid about a theory involving the cord from the grappling gun acting as a tether and becoming a towing vessel for the creature. I guess similar minds think alike 🤣. The more I get into it, the more things come to light. Damm this is fun...
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE My homie Larry and I were just talking about it. The crew that discovered the Narc would have to be written as secretly working for WY with the goal of finding the alien. Ripley was just a bonus. Some things don't line up, but it would explain why whatever ship has the eggs and cocoon.
@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Actually I just watched the end of Alien again. It's pretty definitive that it wasn't tethered. Shows Ripley watching to be sure, too. So idk, it's a stretch.
What they could've done was make a film based on Waland Yutani's reaction to Ash's transmission of landing on LV426. The company secretly had to know they made contact and Cain was infected. "They got their prize" so to speak.
I honestly believe that we will glimpse this in Romulus as part of how they found the specimen. I'm making another vid on an interesting theory based on the Narcissus escape vessel Ripley used how it relates to the new film. You actually see this vessel in the trailer during the station collision scene at the bottom right.
We have to remember that we've never actually seen a xeno shed it's skin on camera, I think this could well be that metamorphosis being shown for the first time. However having said that, I much prefer your theory of it being big-chap cocooned. Great video 👍🏻
More likely that you are right but appreciate your comments 🤟
Avp 2, know the movie sucks, but you see it on the Predator ship at the start, just for a moment.
Yes,indeed,AvP Requiem shows this, even just a few seconds
@@petcucristi8002 yeah AVP2 does show a brief scene, my point is that we have never seen it in depth, but Alien Romulus has shown more of this, just in the promo material, that AVP2 did in it's entire runtime. So I think we will see an in depth depiction of the metamorphosis in the new film. All the best 👍🏻
I know Romulus takes place between Alien and Aliens. Some reported plots of Big Chap being recovered in the form of a cocoon. Going to be very interesting to see how everything unfolds. So far the only connections to Prometheus and Alien Covenant we’ve seen in the trailers has been the android holding the black goo in the blue light and the face huggers developed outside the egg in some sort of plastic like the ones David snuck on board at the end of Covenant. Very curious if Weyland experiments on Big Chap by using the black goo increasing its height and strength. We could potentially see David and Ash’s work in the film. Another rumor I’ve heard is a possible CGI canon of Ash which would be awesome. Ash could’ve sent something to mother or back to headquarters right before he attacks Ripley. Last if big Chap can cocoon and survive in space then that means the queen from Aliens can do the same. God bless the writer who came up with this prequel idea for Romulus.
At least you seem to be excited about this turn of events for Romulus. I hope whatever they do, it's written well. It will be very interesting if they used goo on big chap for sure.
Space is big. REALLY big. The chances of snagging either creature in space would be improbably high. Like, virtually impossible. While if done properly, bringing back Big Chap could be great, I have my serious doubts. Modern movies, especially sequels, for the most part have been rubbish lately.
The scar on the new alien is the result of one of the cast members attacking the cocoon when it is discovered on the Romulus station. The facehuggers in Romulus are being 3D printed essentially. Big Chap hasn't been seen or used in any of the Romulus marketing but is definitely part of the film as is Ash.
@@danjones3176 yeah that seems to be the latest info. Seeing Ash again is probably the most interesting part, just hope it works.
The cocoon thing makes perfect sense, but the shedding image I reckon is the new xenomorph that came out of the bald girl. Seeing the chest burster to adult shedding process for the first time.
You could be right as it is something we haven't seen as of yet. I would argue that moulting wouldn't be as grand looking as this shit but who knows. It did have a newly formed exoskeleton as it emerges.
It could be (Molting Scene) we have never seen on screen the Xenomorph between Chest Burster and Adult Stage, and so it could be very possible that that Shredding Scene could be the Molting Stage to Adult
true that we have never seen this...but wasn't there talk about an adolescent Xenomorph in Alien³ -- the one who attacks Murphy....not that they showed us much
@@SenneSoli not sure... maybe in one of the many drafts for Alien 3?
Yep
Best analysis yet.
Very kind of you to say sir, have a great evening
That space rock in the chamber is the big chap in a coccooned state 😮
That's my theory, although I could be wrong 🤔
Yup, after hearing the early big chap rumors I definitely think that is the cocoon
Totally
Yeah man!
Also makes me wonder who will come across the queen cocoon, floating around in space. 🤔
New to your channel bro! I absolutely love your videos. Really appreciate your viewpoints and your knowledge of the franchise. Your voice is excellent. I’m fully engaged. Thank you for your videos.
@@duckbilledplatypus_ thank you so much buddy, amazing to hear this. I've had a few negative comments about my voice so this is great to hear. Maybe I've managed to improve it over time haha! I have some interesting vids coming out soon in a different style and theorising about the original films, hopefully they will entertain 🤞. Take care my friend.
Evolution is a fantastic but terrifying process because it can work both forwards and backwards depending on the species, going into factors such as hibernation, crytobiosis and stages of evolutional change depending on the conditions, some species has the ability to excrete enzymes to protect itself from the environment therefore begins it healing process until it wakes up in the future
@@Mark_nobody3 it makes you wonder what this specimen evolved from in the first place 🤔. Not saying it started out cute but...
I don't think it's big chap anymore after watching Covenant. I think it's David's Protomorph. In the birthing scene, it has the same fingers as the big one in the trailer.
Yeah very different fingers.
I can't wait!!! This is the most anticipated movie in ages.. I simply just can't wait anymore.. I want to see it now as in RIGHT NOW ! 😅😅
Patience young padawan 😉
The Alien films in my opinion are v.thought provoking , i love every 1 of the films. Its nice to read and see your opinions and love for the alien films too .. im pleased to discover that my geekiness is mirrored in other peoole. Alien films and the thing are my best sci fi films of all time.
Trust me, I am creating a home for us likeminded people that think alike. I wanna build a community of fans that appreciate the positives of these fantastic stories.
So, as I understand it this is the life cycle of the chest burster into xenomorph via cocoon. Just wanna say I had this theory after watching this video a couple of weeks ago and I gotta say 'I pegged it lol, my little theory was turned out to be spot on woo hoo' lol 😆 Once again, great video brother. 👏🏻
I'll have to go through the comments audit to prove your claim Mr Big Shot 😉😉😉Just kidding of course. But you were one of a few that did suggest this so well done sir. I actually really enjoy reading the comments section as there are many intelligent comments left for me to read.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE yeah, my sentiments entirely. Wasn't sure if my faux self congratulatory attitude, would come across tongue in cheek, as intended lol. All the best.
1. ive never heard anyone suggest that Dallas was meant to be the host, but would explain why he was taken alive (tho not why he looked like he was morphing) and is a great explanation for that
2. i dont think alvarez will consider anything before Alien as canon for this film from what i've heard from him
3. i cant imagine a reason why they'd put a tracking device in a grappling hook, and to suggest that as an excuse as to how they could find big chap seems lazy and a bit insulting to the audience
3. i think an explanation that we may all be overlooking to those facehuggers is that theyre taken from the derilict on lv426 .... it would explain why there are so many
Dallas was covered in an egg shape so it is just my theory for whatever it's worth but there always needs to be a host as we know. If there existed some director commentary on those deleted scenes then I would be over the moon haha! Otherwise, great points buddy
If you’re doing maintenance outside your space ship and you have the grappling hook as a backup tool if your safety line snaps. It would make sense to have a tracking system on it to rescue and locate the person floating in space
The tracking device is just a stupid idea. Folks are floating it around for the reason Big Chap was found in Romulus. IF Alvarez does this I am officially OUT. Alien 3 was BAD, and Resurrection was stupid, too(read the og script and it's bad, too.)
@@user-tn4kk9qs8t I have a better theory video coming out in 2 hours. It might cause some contention among fans but I think it makes more sense than a tracking device. It involves the Narcissus lifeboat vessel that Ripley escaped in and why it might make an appearance in Romulus, especially as it can be seen in the trailer if you zoom in 😲
I believe it is not beyond Weyland-Yutani's means to find Big Chap. The Narcissus flight data records, which could easily be accessed remotely, would likely play a large part in narrowing down the sector of space it is in. Also, the grappling gun does NOT have trackers FFS.
But I wonder if the flight records also transmit it's data, otherwise they would only have been discovered 57 later in Aliens.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE I have no doubt that WY would have done what any company would do, especially after the destruction of one of their M-Class Starfreighters. They likely collected any and all data from the Narcissus as fast as the technology and distance would allow.
"Geeky Details" are a good thing Dude. That's why I always take great interest in the extras of DVD and Blu-Ray releases and why I enjoy your work so much. All your speculation and thoughts here seem quite plausible. Won't be long till we know for sure.
Exactly👌It's just too much fun using our imagination before going in haha. Hopefully Fede's imagination is better however 🤞
*SPOILERS* from leaks and one who watched it before they added VFX:
*SPOILERS*
Big chap is obtained in a fossilized form (the "rock" entering the hangar bay) cut open (movie picture with the hazmat suits moving the opened rock with the Big Chap on it) and the black pathogen (from Prometheus/Covenant) is extracted from it. The scientists then begin experimenting with the black substance and grow pods in incubation chambers developing facehuggers. The personnel onboard the station get facehugged (this is before our protagonists arrive) and chestbursted, leading into xenos inhabiting areas of the station.
Thanks for adding the spoiler tags at the top buddy. Hmm, do you mean you watched it or someone you read about?
No it doesn't make sense that a tracking device was on the hook!
Is like having a airtag on my fishing rod so If I lose it I can search the entire ocean until I find it!!
HAHAHA! I love the analogy. This is why I felt the rumours were digging a little too deep to make sense!
That wasnt my impression of the idea. More as something you'd use in space salvaging, like if there are debris and trying to recover something you have a tracker activated in case you lose it. Like if a prize fish gets hooked but escapes you can always track down the fish.
@@gensoustudio4703that's logical mate
Even if Romulus is between Alien and Aliens, perhaps the company actually did go back to LV426 to salvage eggs from the derelict ship, but somehow the ship's cargo got jettisoned en route to the Romulous space station (perhaps a a result of another uncontained outbreak, much like what's observed in Alien).
Remember, in Aliens, the blast radius of the atmospheric processor is about 30 - 40 kilometers, but the distance from the station to the derelict ship is at least a day's worth of driving (i.e. the rover with Newts family - they're far from the station) and would thus be quite out of range and remain unharmed.
@@andersborum9267 interesting thoughts but isn't 30-40 km more than a days ride right? I always assumed that Derelict was within the nuke range but who knows. I'm excited to see any exploration into those finer points in future films 👍
What a great observation.
Cheers buddy
That would be awesome if it was big chap in the cocoon . It’s good storytelling because the beginning of this a salvage team maybe finds big chap , and in Aliens a salvage team finds Ripley floating , and kinda like big chap , in a cocoon except hits a hyper sleep chamber in a ship . Two awesome parallels.
Interesting way of looking at it. Both have been experimented on at some point in the timeline also haha!
This is by far the most detailed spoiler I have seen so far regarding what the movie might be about, what is the "rock", how did they retrieve the alien, etc. and best of all it all makes perfect sense....also, I realize space is vast but I dont think Wayland Industries would have such a hard time finding a fair sized boulder floating in space "relatively" close to Nostromos shuttle
Thanks and anything is possible if written well so 🤞🤞🤞 aye?
Xenomorphs transform the environment into their natural habitat... The idea of a Xeno enclosing itself in a cocoon to survive in extreme conditions is just great! It fits perfectly and naturally into the life cycle of this creature.❤
It's a stretch but I felt the same, why not right?
Oh jeez…..great work
Cheers
When I heard that Big Chap may be coming back and saw the floating rock in the trailer I thought that would HAVE to be him if he is really back!
Only theories so far and I hope it remains that way until release 👍
Perfect organism
"Yeah but... Secreted from what?"
As soon as i saw the preview and it showed them bringing that specimen onboard the ship I KNEW that the big chap theory was correct.
I just wonder if he does come back to life or maybe they use him only as lab parts.
Dude, please don’t call it a safe space. Nobody is going to get stabbed on the comment section. Good video man.
Haha, true. Appreciate it buddy 😁
i like the idea of a scene where we see the pipes along the back, secreting its web/goo cocoon stuff....very cool n alien if done right ;)
They must be used for something right? Always used to spark my imagination as a kid.
Great theory video, I remember seeing this creature in the BBC's Frozen Planet series. It felt like an oddity in nature then and I think that it fits in with Xenomorph's other bizarre abilities such as it's life cycle, reminiscent of the Cotesia glomerata wasp and also the alien's accelerated growth and healing abilities.
Thanks dude. I keep hearing stories of studies in labs to incorporate the tardigrades biology into ours using DNA splicing to improve our resistances etc and then we have China that have placed these things on the moon for research purposes. It felt like such a real life relation to the fictional perfect specimen 😉
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Thanks for the reply and I did not know any of that that. It could be that the writers of Romulus have come across similar studies and were inspired.
According to the lore of the films, if there is no current queen, then a xenomorph would transform into one to keep the species going. So big chap, by order of evolution, will become a queen.
@@josiaghylnd2024 yeah I like this theory
Coming out of the cocon. Hands on it head.
I'm a huge alien fan i love this franchise dearly i have high hopes for this movie it looks really good i was very excited for covenant but got massively disappointed so hopefully this will help the franchise
I think it's safe to say it will be more Alien than Covenant at this stage. I'm hoping for a thrilling experience with lots of horror 👍
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE me too
I always felt that the xenomorph uses the gallons of mucous it secretes as a type of epoxy. It’s possible that it starts a chemical reaction to harden after secretion. We know for sure the mucous looks to be very watery around the mouth but after being on a surface for a bit it gets very viscous and sticky.
Imagine how we could utilise such a chemical into practical applications such as construction etc 😉
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Absolutely! Forget the bio weapons division. Weyland Yutanti should have wanted it for construction or special materials research. Add to that the goo the predators have that dissolves it. You have a sustainable, non polluting, environmentally friendly product. That could be used in everything from space exploration to consumer goods and packaging. Lol.
I think that in part maybe its the Big Chap because Alvarez is going to be using a lot of Call Backs/Easter Eggs for Nostalgia.
Having recover the original Big Chap may be COOL to some Fans as opposed to recovery of another Egg/Facehugger from Planet 4 or LV-426 (which to me those places would be the Companies first Port of Call).
Another Easter Egg is the Blue Mist/Field as i suspect that this won't have any connection with the Derelict, it will just be something that looks similar as a Easter Egg
There may be many things that are designed to trigger memories but that is all they are right? Hopefully anything that is a deep connection or something new will not contradict canon and will be smart enough to inspire us like the previous films were able to do.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE I think that Alvarez will use free license to introduce new things, but I don't think he will do anything that would conflict with the Prequels or other Alien Movies.
Creepy science 😮
A xenomorph king would be an excellent idea and one that we have not yet seen.
but what purpose would a king serve other than to be big and more menacing? their is no king bee/ant, there is just a queen, which is what they reference in aliens
@@aaronbreeds5132 entertainment man.
The king is from the comics I believe and possibly one novel but I have no idea what function it serves other than sounding fucking frightening haha!
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE that's what I'm talking about, to see a version like that on film and how terrifying it could be. What kind of ferocity could it show us. I think it would be cool to see something like that in live action.
If big chap is out there then so is the Alien queen that Ripley blew out into space in Aliens 2.
Can't wait for that one 😁
They just found Ripley in Aliens but then she had been drifting thru the system for 57 years whereas Big Chap qould be nearer where the Nostromo went bang so sorta in the space lane so maybe found/stumbled upon easier?
I have a new theory that I'll explain soon in my next video that goes deep into how both the xeno and the Narcissus escape pod are directly related to Romulus 👍
Watching the footage again, I love the little details especially the face hugger attempting insertion. But this made me think about its mechanics. I'll assume its cut here but when he resists will the hugger tighten its tail around the neck to make the victim gasp opening their mouth? 🤔
It was quite horrible to watch that scene, so props to Fede for that one 👍
Upon emerging from the cocoon, the fingers of the xeno's hands do not seem to match the joined fingers of the original 1979 creature. Also, the head looks somewhat different, despite any damage. If this is supposed to be the Nostromo alien, it should be copied exactly, all the way down to the stinger barb tail.
Yes well it may be that the big chap is only ever used as research and never brought back to life. It was fun working on the theory though ;)
Thanks buddy
No problem 👍
Space 1999 Dragons Domain episode started this zaniness, blame Chiellini for his quest. I believe that the jockey and alien are really HR Giegers "nuclear children " and Gieger fine tuned them.🤔👍
I'd love to visit Giger's museum house one day. A true legend that gave horror so much.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Switzerland, Gyuer, I lived in Germany in the 70s and visited Switzerland as a kid. He was a talented and crazy man, go check it out.🇺🇸🤠👍
Maybe the whole shuttle, & space station looking like an escape option out of their limiting life, was a set up / trap by the Company, so that they became the food/host for the xenomorphs ?
They forgot to permanently lock those airlocks though 😉😉😉
Is it so hard to believe that WY could have been nearby LV-426 to observe the Nostromo and subsequent detonation? They could have seen Big Chap get blown out of the airlock and scooped him up shortly after. We don't know exactly when Romulus takes place, could be hours or days after the original Alien. They didn't care about Ripley so they just let her drift away, they got their prize.
I think it's 10 years after but the renaissance station could have already existed in preparation before the Nostromo perhaps
We do know when Romulus takes place - it's *_20 years_* after Ripley evicted an alien from her shuttle, into endless outer space - far away from where the Nostromo platform would have last been.
@@lewis7515 Hmm, WY could have still been there, just happens they've now had 20 years of research time. Just hoping it's something like that and not a tracker on the harpoon. 😬
If you read the heavy metal graphic novel adaption of alien there is a scene where Ripley finds the big chap contorted into a cocoon shape and as she runs away it remorphs into its humanoid shape.
Thanks for the info. I should spend some time when I have it reading the better novels and comics that brought great ideas to this universe. I'll add that one to the list as well thanks.
As a child of the 90s, I don’t remember a time in my life that I wasn’t aware of Alien, Terminator, Predator, Return of the Living Dead, or Michael Myers. Great parents indeed. Although my dad did cover my eyes in theaters when we saw Starship Troopers. I guess he wasn’t expecting some of those shower scenes. Too much for a 10 year old?
Haha! Yes, well it may have been the best time to grow up in regards to movies before all these modern filters and check boxes etc. it was easier to get into cinemas back then as a kid also. Now with all the id business hehe
I think there are two separate xenos. The one emerging has the brownish all smooth dome that looks like classic big chap ( I hope!). The one at the end has a completely different anatomy than big chap- bigger jaws, black partial dome, like 'Aliens' drones). We know there is at least one face hugger impregnation that produces a xeno. The scarring could be from events in the film?
I believe the latter Xeno could be an altered alien from experiments but we shall see. I have some new info regarding the cocoon opening so hopefully I'll get that uploaded in the next couple of days. There do seem to be varying types of xenos as you say though 👍
They need to introduce a new alien species, but something very horrific
We might get that. I only have theories so far of course.
Yep ... I agree
I think that clip from the trailer with the cocooned Big Chap (speculation) is from much earlier than when the young crew arrives at the space station. When Fede says that Romulus takes place 10 years after Alien, that doesn't mean nothing happened before that, and in fact, Big Chap could have been captured by Weyland not long after Alien took place. Who knows how much surveillance the company had inside the shuttlecraft that Ripley pushed the Alien out of? For all we know, they were aware of what and when it happened, and they might not have been too far away from the Nostromo at the time of the event (weeks/months).
It would be an absurd 1 to a billion (trillion?) odds if that floating rock with Big Chap just happens to fly by Weyland's spaceship years after Alien, if they weren't looking for it already.
Now the one thing I don't get is, why would Weyland even need to capture Big Chap? They could just have gone to LV-426, since they already knew about the planet. Was it too risky? They couldn't find another expendable crew to send there and grab a few eggs? Unless they knew that Big Chap was floating around nearby anyway and went out to pick him up shortly after he got ejected it from the shuttle (saves them a trip to a dangerous planet for sure).
Tbh I love that we don't know, and I can't wait to find out (please don't let us down) 🙏
Yeah, great point. We forget that this is the future, although you wouldn't know it looking at the Millennium Nostromo 😉😉😉. Surely the vessel would have had CCTV streaming at the very least. I would assume much like how our ferry lanes in our waters are monitored by the military, Weyland would also have kept an eye on its previous cargo as well.
To your second point. I still don't understand why nobody has made a film about the between moments of LV-426 by now. The site was nuked in Aliens but the countless tears prior to that should have lots of stories to tell right? You're dead right that any smart organisation would have definitely sent people there after the events of Alien 💯%
I don’t know how big LV-426 is but if the distress signal stopped during the events of Alien then it could feasibly be really hard to find the juggernaut again couldn’t it? The weather is terrible and electrical storms make flying very hazardous. So perhaps isn’t just comes down to they couldn’t find it so decided to build the processing plant
this is my belief too, like it's part of a flashback or maybe video log or something, they've clearly been doing experiments on the xenomorphs because of the incubation pods and also (potentially) vials of black goo
@@SingleTrack66 Possibly. The tech in Alien was a mixture of good and bad haha. Although the Prometheus flagship with was set before Alien was equipped with the best the company had to offer.
@@peterhayday5227 It's good CCTV footage if it is a flashback and I hope we get lots of it in the film if so.
The alien is generally based around the general insect orders.
-Exoskeleton
-Queen laying vast amount of eggs.
-Semi parasitising life span
-multiple stage metamorphoses
- chemical communication etc
So it stands that an alien can secrete a protective cocoon to protect itself in the hostile environment of space. Various insects build casings to protect themselves using their own silk and other secretions, cockroaches and mantids lay ootheca, a protective casing that has compartments that hold eggs, and in the case of mantids that casing is a initially a secreted foam that sets hard.
However it is my belief that these "perfect organisms" are vastly adaptive, and go with the theory that the derelict/jockey was in fact a large Alate( a winged ant/termite reproductive) type xenomorph, that gets created when the circumstances require it. Therefore giving the species a way to disperse on an intergalactic scale.
My hypothesis is that when the xenomorphs have used up all of the resource in a particular location, Alates are created and they disperse.
Yes this destroys the whole space jockey re-boot, but I'm more than happy to forget all that.
Very interesting theory there my friend. Are you saying the the space jockey was face hugged and then somehow controlled as to get the species to a new location? Or something else? He did suffer a chest burst after all. I also don't like the engineer route although I like to think that the engineers found this tech from another ancient species, the one we see in the derelict as he is much larger. I understand your point though. It's a form of adapting and surviving by using new techniques to find a new food source etc.
My guess is”Big chap” won’t be on it.
It’s rather unbelievable.
My point being they were still hunting it by Alien 3
Tardigrade’s can survive so much stuff! Radiation, massive heat, all sorts.
One test showed it was almost Lava level heat to kill it!!!
Thank god the same can't be said about bed bugs haha!
Like a cicada. Live Fast, Die Loud, and Leave a Beautiful Exoskeleton. The claw or foot or whatever unfurling itself out of the ooze definitely looks like something emerging from a cocoon. Flight data on the Narcissus would get them in the general vicinity of the Big Chap and they got Narcissus. What is she shooting that's in the cage and why does she appear to be tied up at the end? This is a tale of two space stations as well, one having older tech, the other newer and Alvarez pointed out that Romulus killing Remus in the Roman myth has symbolic weight here.
Exactly what I said on Alien Thoery and Mr.H’s posts two weeks ago.
Nice! I miss watching their content as I purposely try not to anymore as I don't want it to contaminate my own thoughts, otherwise I'd only be copying other people's ideas.
If they really did go the big chap in cocoon route well then there is a big ole queen floating around post aliens
All depends on Romulus box office first hehe
Great analysis….
Thank you good sir, have a great evening
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE and you sir.
Not sure this is th Big Chap. The odds of finding such an object blown away from the Narcissus are astronomically high. The location of the Nostromo (still 10 months from Earth) and the direction the Alien was blown away in, tied in with the constant acceleration in space, indicates that it wold be impossible to find and that after decades, the creature would be millions of miles from that point. And the Company don't have the Narcissus' flight recorder at that point yet. The object we see being retrieved is intriguing, though.
Hopefully they'll have a smart enough explanation, otherwise, sigh....
If the original Alien/Xeno could cocoon humans, why couldn't it cocoon itself for hibernation in deep space?! I'm so excited for this movie!
Exactly my thoughts. I feel like we still know nothing about this specimen...
Some lore has single xenomorphs can become a queen. That would explain the facehuggers.
There is so much lore it gets confusing hehe
If this is what happens to the xenomorph while in space, then the queen from Aliens is also still alive... She was also blown out of the Sulaco...
It's only a theory but if true then it would affect that as well I agree. Maybe the queen wasn't reported and therefore will never be found...
If that’s big chap it’s essentially the same level fuck up as Rafael Andolini being a french trapper in Montana 1720
Here's a theory i haven't heard: What are the chances that the original Ash, being a synthetic generally ignored by xenos and also being the most invested in the xeno lifecycle, implanted or attached a tracking device of some kind to the xeno itself? Maybe he lied or omitted key details about the tracking device he built being micro changes in air density and the alien had something on it from him the whole time. It would be completely in line with his orders and objective.
That's a good theory buddy. I'm still confused about the fact that in some films and games that the synthetics are ignored but Bishop was slaughtered in Aliens. It's a good idea for another video one day but needs a lot of research and careful thought.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE I always thought that Bishop being slaughtered was to show the Queen's heightened awareness and understanding over normal xenos, along with her 'negotiation' with Ripley, use of the elevator and sneaking onto the drop-ship. Perhaps she sees beyond him being a synthetic machine and recognized that he is a "tool" aiding her human adversaries.
The only thing not going for this theory is that in the alien novel, big chap was described as being blown to chunks by the thrusters.
Like that would ever stop a scriptwriter.
I've always seen books and films like two separate parallel universes I suppose. Therefore the studio can easily just pick and choose what they want. It becomes tragic when you are invested in a good novel however, I get that.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE The novelisation was also taken from an early draft of the script, so there are inescapable differences between them.
I think its a chestburster molting into an adult!
Just as valid
moment in the trailer where the android touches the blue fog in his right hand there is a reservoir inside of which there are flasks with black liquid, so that the black liquid will make itself known
Yeah that seems pretty clear I agree. Not sure I wanna see mutated humans again though🥺
If it is the big chap, i think from some of the shots it may have, or will, molt into a queen
Remember what Ash said… Perfect organism
Exactly
“You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you?” - Ash
@@tomvanoosterom4850 this may be my tagline if the movie has no legs in August 🤣
"A survivor. Without conscience, remorse or delusions of morality"
This might be the process of the Alien getting bigger, after being a chest buster we never see the next stage of growth development , this might be this .the part we see it opening itself out .
Great thought! I feel silly not including this in the video as after reading your comment it feels like it's always been in my subconscious thoughts. We saw Brett discover the discarded skin from the Alien moulting in the original film and that was it, nothing more after that as you say.
Yes
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE I think you are right with the hard cocoon I just think we might get a few new things added to the lore.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Hey do a video on it ,some more material for you .
Love the idea of updating the morphology to the beast, but I don’t think the creature we’re siding in the trailers looks like a big chap, mouth is incorrect and there are other details that are off… not saying this theory is wrong, but something’s off still, hoping there’s more and it’s not just all in the trailer already 🤞
Considering what was revealed of the plot, I don't think it's a theory, it's obviously a protective cocoon and when it occured to me, I thought it was brilliant and kind of made biological sense.
Some leaks do always turn out to be true of course. Just in terms of this ability to hibernate in such a way. I agree it's a great way to expand on the creatures lore.
You guys want a spoiler??? The bad guy in this movie isssssssss: the cyborg!! (the black dude who says "run!" in the trailer - obviously a synthetic)
Why? cuz it almost always is when Ridley Scott is involved. Plus this movie takes place before Alien 2, where Bishop claims synthetics are now no longer able to harm humans. So this is possibly another wild synthetic like Ash.
This new synthetic probably picked up the order Ash was given + the data Ash probably uploaded after investigating the alien.
Ash might of placed a tracker on the Big Chap somehow too, this makes it very easy for the new synthetic to track it down, and sneak it in to the spaceship.
One more vibe/speculation: the scene where the black synthetic says "run" he's doing that to herd human to a certain direction that's gonna make it easier for him to achieve his (Weyland Yutani's) objectives.
In general it looks like this movie will have a lot less philosophical elements (nothing new outside of what Ridley created) and play more with the horror/action elements to the 80's 90's Hollywood perfection. Kinda like TopGun 2 Maverick?
Anways, CAN'T WAIT.
Interesting observation. This synthetic is definitely the lowest grade we've ever seen as he even walks like C3PO haha. He could well be only good for following company orders
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Yea! and in that trailer there is a scene where his eyes flips backwards, that could be the moment where he is being completely recoded to carry on the secret mission.
If this is what happened, then basically the Queen doesn’t die after Aliens either . She just cocooned herself. That is kind of a let down.
@@spartanp2064 nah, this was just a theory video. From the trailer and new info we learn what this object is but I won't say here in case you don't want the spoiler 👍 I made a more recent vid explaining it however.
How many of us here became acquainted with Big Chap in our early childhoods? How many were scared, and how many were disturbed yet still somehow fascinated by its appearance?
Honestly, these things might as well be real at this stage. I've always been fascinated by these incredibly creatively designed creatures, both in appearance and biology 👍
Yeah it was Incredible to see it the First Time, it wasn't Scary but i dont Scare.. apart from the Jump Shocks now and again....
Iconic though... it was like nothing i had ever seen before.
The Thing 1982 i found disturbing though, especially Dog Town Scene
@@davebear9825 god I adore The Thing. It might be better than Aliens or maybe on par, so hard to say. Almost like picking your favourite child 😂
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE I hear they are going to be doing a Reboot of The Thing, I thought the Prequel was ok apart from some poor CGI and No One should survive.
I think that The Thing should be left alone, no more Prequels (where it came from) and no more Sequels.
But then the same should have been said with the Xenomorph Origins and the Space Jockey.... both left as a Mystery
Could Big Chap have shed it's cells and replaced them with polarized silicon to give it a prolonged resistance to adverse environmental conditions ultimately resulting in this cocoon? Or perhaps more likely secreted resin from the mouth spun into a cocoon the same way a hive is shaped. I would say no to moulting. Fascinating and believable aspect of the Xenomorph. Love the cryptobiosis theory! My Dad let me see ALIEN when I was 9. I've been fascinated by it ever since not including the silly/ridiculous/comedic/not believable aspects and entries in the series i.e. AR and the like.
Thanks buddy and I definitely have had the same response to these films as you have I would say. Intelligent designs stick with you and those first two films were lightning in a bottle. I hope we get some well crafted new lore to feast on in Romulus.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE have you considered creating a small and very select group of like-minded thinkers (intelligent, creative, intuitive) that you have come across here to craft a realistic ALIEN storyline and script. You can't have too many cooks in the kitchen but with the right group could be interesting.
@@CWRardin if I knew it would be used somehow then that would be an incredible experience. I know nothing about that side of things and can only imagine it would stay as a script. Who would you even send it to? It's a great idea though. You could flesh out a backbone of the whole narrative and then each person could write single small chapters. Once done it could be placed together and the revised several times to make it feel seamless. Man you've got me thinking now, although I've never tried to write a script before.
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDEsome thoughts: I wonder if the aim shouldn't be a script but rather a process of contemplation of interesting aspects and questions pertaining to the world and storyline (the first two). With the right group this would be quite enjoyable however an organic process as opposed to trying to write a script. For example, what would you genuinely like to know about that world, or things pertaining to the story (first two). Enjoyable exploration, contemplation and discovery can organically develop story elements that evolve into story concepts which intuitively connect to each other and weave together in an organic way as the characters/story/world fleshes itself out. Then easy and fun to adapt to script form. What questions would you like to know the answers to? For me it's endless i.e. what did the company distill from the beacon that made it so interested in a specimin? What happened to the xeno on the derelict. Essentially pondering/discovering interesting answers to interesting questions and letting the story slowly come into view on its own perhaps from the subconscious.
@@CWRardin I may give this some thought when I have more time. Great ideas for starting out and I believe many film makers begin the process with similar strategies
At the end of Alien the creature nestled itself between the pipes in the ship, probably beginning the process you are talking about. It has never been mentioned or described, the creature must have a life cycle and this process may be something it does at the end of its life cycle to rejuvenate itself.
To avoid dying and start over is a nice idea. A perfect specimen cannot just grow old and die surely ;)
It will be an avarage movie and some seens like childishly picturised. But horrerly something expected.
Possibly. We'll find out very soon 😉
What I have been thinking is that instead of "castes" what we have is different xeno variants for each egg on the derelict, much like variants of the jars in Prometheus. Some eggs may not spawn xenos like an ant colony at all and that the big chap isn't like that at all.
There can absolutely be room for variation in species going on. After all, the embryos and goo seem to react differently based on the host as well.
We got the euros, to distract us 4 a month. Thank god.
the opening scene when weyland yutani see a specie floating in space as un identified object
Could be.
It’s the alien that was hiding in Ripleys evac pod, it was blown out and since it survives in space it eventually cocooned itself. Sometime in space it changed its sex and started reproducing “queen” and then died. The eggs survived in the the protective cocoon and form the queens pouch. Once obtained by the company, they slowly extracted the eggs where everything went downhill
It's a possibility buddy, for sure
It may be that xenomorphs can change sex under harsh conditions. So maybe Big Chap turns into a new queen. Thus eggs and face huggers.
I'm down with that kind of idea. I always thought the whole "perfect organism" description could easily stretch to being stand alone adaptive given the right requirements etc.
Indeed. Us humans, we require each other to survive but a perfect organism is designed to survive on its own merit 👍
@4:55 a leaker for the movie on UA-cam confirmed that Big Chap is not in the trailers thus far, therefore this alien here can't have been Big Chap
I'm starting to hear this more now. It's possible then that big chap is just in ruin and only needed for samples if the leak it true.
Thats interesting, indeed i felt like we should not be assuming that the Xenomorph is the Big Chap, its likely that the Big Chaps Corpse is used to obtain the Genetic Material to allow for the creation of the Face Huggers and Xenomorphs.
The Xenomorph in the trailers could be from.
(1) A Storage Tank like the Facehuggers. But Larger.
(2) The Chest Burster.
(3) A Egg Morphing (even if its from the Stations Original Crew, Egg Morphed into a Hive like in the Alien DC scene.
When I say Egg Morph, I suspect that the Morph sequence doesn't produce a Egg... but a Large Cocoon like the Gremlins Movie but Larger where a Xenomorph is Incubating inside.
This is a possibility but not to say that is what we will see.
Aaagh, these trailers spoil movies. Can’t resist watching them but they give so much away. Miss the enjoyment of going into a movie having no idea what it’s about.
Hehe, let's hope there are no more trailers and that this one is designed to confuse us 👌
Man you are a friggin genius everything you said makes so much sense now since I watched the new trailer ! Never heard of that bar, I'll look it up thanks. I'm completely with you as a fan, love the games and love most of the movies. Playing isolation again right now but I really with they would make more combat orientated games that are much better than colonial marines.... Fireteam was great fun and a good hoard FPS game. Dark Descent was incredible also but I would love a single player FPS game with a great story please. Thanks for the compliment my friend.
Dan O' Bannon stated the creature has a short life span in fact when Ripley discovered the alien in the lifeboat it was seeking a quiet place to die.
Originally O'Bannons idea was the Xenomorph was a juvenile and once mature and if it was brought up by its own kind they would be somewhat civilized.
This Aspect was changed once we got into the Drafts Stages of Alien.
But indeed, i recall RS saying that the Xenomorph was looking for a place to Die.
Each appearance of the Xenomorph in all formats does at times offer different life expectancy of the Xenomorph.
@@davebear9825 It's coloration to a darker hue was said to indicate a very rapid pace to expiration.
For something that grows so damm quick, it would almost make perfect sense for it to expire soon after. Weirdly this makes me sad and hints at it not actually being the perfect organism anymore 😥
@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE My best understanding of it is that by putting together the scene of all those mass eggs in the cargo hold of the inhuman space vessel along with what science officer Ash describes about the alien organism that it matures extremely rapidly and is effectively used to wipe out a target and then it expires very quickly and it's molecular biological material serves useful purposes. Biological bombardment.

Im all aboard with the return of the big chap. But it’s importen to not forget the title of the movie and that tells us that Romules is the spawn of the wolf mother. I assume the wolf mother is the big chap and Romules is the engineered spawn of the big chap. My thoughts offcourse😎
It also relates to the station itself in terms of technology but you make a really great point and begs the question, what could they have designed in the lab and what is the finished product?
