This profession has absolutely nothing to do with my life, but somehow I'm completely enthralled!

All good ! but it's not all about how fast ! It's about how safe . As long as you get home safely after each working day , that's fast enough !

Great video…. very informative! We have taken out so many Ash the last few years in N central Okla. Obviously there’s major expense involved for the customer. The big issue is, given 2-5 more years many of these trees will be (1) blown over or broke out by our April/May severe weather or (2) be un-climbable due to rot. Customers who are waiting now will, unfortunately, pay big time in the long run.

Wish you guys worked in Maine. I have 4 big pines leaning towards my power lines and house. The biggest one has multiple holes from wood peckers that are big and deep. Today one big part of tree fell in the wind nearly took out the lines. The trees range from 16 to 30 inches in diameter. They freak me out

Aside from the tree felling and rope climbing, what brand is that sleek looking jacket you are wearing?
    It is damn nice looking..

Guys just wondering, can you ever get rot or a “barber chair” that high up in a tree ?

The bowline is not a safe termination knot. It can come undone with the constant slack, no slack movement of climbing

When you need to put more force on the hammer the accuracy of the strike may suffer. This is true also when the shoulders are fatigued because the triceps and biceps are large and remain strong longer than the deltoids which are smaller and tire more quickly. To solve this problem and to stay on schedule I devised a modified hammer strike to be more forgiving of the accuracy issues and to deliver the striking force with ease. I simply rotate the axe or hammer head by 90 degrees to the line of impact and contact the target with the larger cheek of the hammer/axe/hatchet. I strike directly above the handle shank and centered on the center of gravity of the tool head. This gives a lot more area to hit with instead of miss with. An axe may have more weight to the cutting side than the hammer side and so I strike a little bit over to center up the payload on the target. This will save you a lot of wasted efforts and time.

why do you plunge cut and wedge every tree? I don't get it. In the 'leaner' video, where there was property all around, it made sense to be cautious, but you explained it as if it was a situational method; but I've now watched your two other video where you do it even in the middle of nowhere.

I think because it must not hit the surrounding trees. Otherwise it might have leaned against another tree and you got another problem.

It also mitigates barber chairs a lot and Aah is very brittle and easy splitting wood. A barber chair is nothing to take lightly
