      yeah she's also super real for saying just squeeze it in whenever you find the time or resources to finish the whole prep like...yeah not everyone can carve out a couple hours wrapping 3 dozen burritos. but if you do find pockets of time to complete that, you're set for breakfast/small meals for a whole month.

  • @AngelaPags
    @AngelaPags 4 роки тому +334

    Save that big bag that the tortillas come in and just place all of the rolled burritos into that bag and seal it up, place it into the freezer, and pull out the burrito one at a time when you're ready. You can even double bag it if you use 2 bags of tortillas while freezer prepping. It eliminates any extra waste since aluminum foil is potentially even more harmful to the environment than plastic, and you probably throw away the tortilla bag anyway. You can also place them into the toaster over to get a crispier tortilla before placing them into the freezer. Put the burrito into a glass storage container for him to take to work and he can microwave it in the glass! I've learned a lot as I go too!!

      Angela Pauline I forgot who, but studies show “one person can make a difference” isn’t true when it comes to the environment. It’s the big factory/corporations that do. You’re not really making a difference in the environment by not using foil.

    • @purplehaze412
      @purplehaze412 4 роки тому +24

      @@humbertoheredia6734 Humberto Heredia This is not a good take. If one can re-use the plastic bag that the tortillas came in then IMO it's imperative that they do so - less to throw away so less trash-takeout and less contributed to the recycling of a household (or, if the person is using this for work, then of course either of the former at work).
      None of the above is useless, and takes IMO very little thought (as Angela just improved upon). Yeah - corporations are shit and do outmatch most of us but you should still use your head.

    You could use parchment paper (not wax paper) or paper towels. Then put them in reuseable Tupperware or bags in the freezer. If it doesn't want to fold around the burritos you can use kitchen twine. Also possibly you could use corn husks after you soak them in water for an hour or two. Eco-friendly solution for freezing anything that you want to store together but you'd rather prefer them not to stick together: use a small oven tray (that feets in your freezer) covered with oven paper (or the reusable version) to avoid them sticking to the tray, and lay the all individual pieces in the tray without touching each other. Once it is frozen (it does not take too long) you can store them all tight together in the same taperware or freezer bag (again, there are reusable too) and the tray is free for the next thing you'd like to freeze. If one tray is not enough you can put another one on top (but with another layer of oven paper in between the two). If you don't have an oven tray that fits in your freezer, anything that is flat and does not bend will do, e.g. a cutting board, or you could also try with taperware although that option might take more space in the freezer (as they need to be not touching each other while getting frozen and tapers are usually smaller and higher; but on the other hand you can put the lid on and store one on top of the other safely). To carry them to work you can use any of the many eco-friendly options in the market, some of which have already been mentioned in the coments.

    Ideas for wrapping burritos and other things for the freezer:
    1. use the wax paper bag from cereal boxes. I shake them out and cut them up to sizes that are convenient for my use. I make vegan bean burgers in advance and I put a square of wax paper between burger to separate and then put 6 burgers in a cylindrical plastic container with a lid. I also use the wax paper to wrap up my burritos and I use a small piece of tape to hold the wax paper together. I would have just thrown out the wax paper anyway and this way I don't have to buy anything special. It is lightly waxed and I heat up the burrito in the paper, but if you want to take it out of the wax paper before heating that is up to you.
    2. To freeze I reuse the burrito bag. The bag that the burritos come in is usually resealable. I put my burritoes into the bag, (it usually holds about 6) then I try to squeeze out the air. I have not had any problem with freezer burn. And these bags are reusable over and over.
    3. I have cut up plastic bags that I bring home from the store. I use them like to hold foods that are already wrapped with food grade wrap.
