Boss Fight - Odin the All-Father / Final Boss - Ігри
They depicted Odin perfectly. Not as a muscular, hulking, boisterous King of the Vikings....but as a powerful, conniving, manipulative old sorcerer with a silver tongue and an obsession with knowledge.
To be fair, that's exactly who Odin is even in the religion of the Norse. Depending on who you ask of course.
@@ladyofthesith1943 Wasn’t he both? Like I’m not saying he had to be big like Kratos but a little muscle to showcase his more Viking aspects he is inspired by. But Kratos did say a god’s strength isn’t their muscles as Baldur was strong and he was lean but slim.
@@90CJk He absolutely could be, exactly what Odin looks like varied a lot. He's a shapeshifter after all. Able to assume many forms and many guises.
He looks like an insurance salesman to me. The coniving charm, the honest verbal jittery, the fluid masterful carrot and stick , the mix of genuity and deception... more than enough to get prospective clients to bend over.

The worst part of Odin killing Thor is that Odin is such a narcisist he blames the person he's killing for his own death. There's no greater insult than murdering someone while apologizing for it.
Textbook behavior from a domestic abuser

A real "who killed Hannibal" moment right there.
I love how Odin fighting style didn't rely on his strength. He rely on his magic and tactic to outwit his opponents. Hes strong af.

Odin killing thor so impulsively....never in a million years i expected that to happen, truly one of the most shocking moments in the game
Narcissistic Rage
and he killed him like so easily just by spear
It wasn’t really that impulsive. Pretty calculated when you think about it. Thor is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. If Odin can’t control him, then at best he’s a drunken, destructive liability. At worst he’s a dangerous threat. Best to just take him out now while he’s weak and his guard is down. Killing Brok was an impulsive move though
@@xoolifGotta remember he was worn out after fighting Kratos. Something tells me he would've turned and defended quicker if he was at full strength.
Odin is such a manipulator that, when he was completely helpless in a soul stone, everyone wanted to spare the poor, helpless old man despite everything he did. All except Sindri who did what everyone couldn't and fulfilled the prophecy.
Sindri did the right thing. Odin said he had no choice and the mask was the only thing he had left but we all know he would have used the mask to destroy all his enemies. Once he gained infinite knowledge he would have killed Atreus aswell since hes not needed anymore. Sindri true mvp because you dont know if that pos could have escaped the marble somehow!
And you still feel bad for Odin. Lol.
No, it's more about how the characters developed that determined their choices. Kratos wasn't going to do it, Atreaus was content with leaving Odin in a vulnerable place, and Freya got over her anger and realized there are better things than revenge. Sindri tho... he had been on that "I do what I want" energy for awhile, so it makes sense for him to do it.
@@Austin-vp6qq so in other words
They all being *pus*y* while only Sindri act as a Chad and complete the mission
@@catnoirlover1719 You missed the point then. The mission changed from killing Odin (aka vengeance) to seeking justice when Kratos and Atreus saw the casualties of war. They sealed away the danger that was Odin. "He is beaten. No longer a threat". Killing him after that, at least for them, would be for nothing but vengeance.
Odin’s old man scream after Loki breaks the mask gets me every time 😂
auughhh
Wait, Loki is Atreus?
Hwut???
@@canadiancanucklehead8310 How tf did you not know that??? Odin even called him Loki in this video.
When a narcissist lose it
Although I'm not sure if it should be considered a detail, when Odin guts Thor with his spear, his son does not look at him, either because he is fed up with him lying, or perhaps because he is accepting his fate. But when Thrud screams, Thor turns to look at his daughter, and gradually disintegrates.
He also waited for his daughter to arrive before saying “No” to his father Odin
What do you think could’ve happened if thor dodged that kill hit and lived till the end of the game?
Thor wasn‘t willing to kill his own family. Odin, on the other hand… What was it about actions speaking, again? Yup.
I mean what if he’d sided with kratos and his sonic for the moment to fight Odin. What would’ve happened in the fight and then after?

They could have been great mates.
It's incredible how good the writing and the characters, and the actors that portrayed them and the animations, are in this game. There are so many subtle hints about their emotions, about their thoughts even in their tone, in their eyes, even though it is animated, not live action.
Did you notice how freakin' false is Odin, even when faced with complete failure? Even in the moment he *knows* Atreus will not believe him, he still lies, and when confronted with his own mistake, mistake he made himself, he still tries to defend himself with another lie.
"It wasn't my choice. I had no choice"
Oh, but it was. And he *knew* that, even before Atreus spoke. Whenever Odin lies, be it at the start or in this final confrontation, Odin always looks in someone's eyes, which makes him more believable.
Except here, when for two short sentences, he averts his gaze, in a feeble hope that it will be enough to sway Atreus back on his side.
He is a pathological liar, it makes for an incredibly well done villain
Yet Elden ring is the game of the year
It wasn’t animations, it’s mocap. Those are the actors actually walking around and doing those things
@@ardrialban511 Well... yes
Mocap is, however, an alternative animation technique, so it is still a form if animation

Mimir: Dont Forget Me All Fucker
No lie i wanted Kratos to take other eye out of Odin as well. Guess i need to control my anger as well.
Ong but I’m glad Loki finally got his w
@ddog6741 he's already got Mimir but hey what's two severed heads on a belt for increased intimidation?
I like how even though Odin is more of a sorcerer,he's still strong asf physically. He killed Thor with one spear stab , effortlessly swung mjilnor , took on Kratos ,Atraeus and Freya's onslaught stood back up only to be taken down by magic .
Before anyone comes with they rebuttals in every iteration of the Norse Mythology it takes the end of the world to happen to kill Odin ,he's is not ruler of the realms for no reason .
Thor was badly injured and caught off guard so he didn’t necessarily “easily” kill Thor, had he fought a fresh Thor he still would have won although not with lack of difficulty you are describing, secondly he was clearly beaten by Kratos, Atreus and Freya to where they could have killed him in any way they wanted l, Atreus simply chose to take Odin’s soul yet you state this as if he actually had a chance and was ready to continue fighting when this clearly isn’t the case. Odin is no pushover and is obviously very powerful but this is a serious Odin wank.
You then denounce the possibility for any rebuttal as if you cannot possibly be wrong
@@noahsibahi-jackson8757 None of that matters at all , because as Ive said ,it takes the end of the world to finish Odin period . That's not my opinion ,that is a fact ,we can talk about what everyone else did and can possibly do against Odin, but the fact remains,u will find no end to Odin without Ragnarok .

I love how Sindri just bamf's in and out to do the deed.
Damn! The way Odin says his spells, casts his magic is so awesome!!! They nailed that voice mentioning the spells, you get goosebumps
Bro they absolutely nailed it with Odin’s voice actor. The way he shouts “Leiptra!” along with his other spells is just so satisfying. You can feel the power behind those attacks.
Now this is a good Odin right here. He's clearly stronger than his sons but not through any physical might. He's had millennia to master magic, he's got tools, pets, trinkets and his ability to lie.
Odin is basically John Constantine of this universe

Mimir: that one for Brok
I love how Odin's arrogance desappeared in a matter of seconds after Freya took his ass down with that spell. When he's about to die he then quickly turns into a poor old granpa. He's endeed a true snake.
Bro Sindri was a shy bean and a germaphob but when brok died he just became cold and stopped carring.
Wouldnt you? He helped kratos and atreus despite the risks and the rudeness in 2018, went behind their backs with atreus in ragnarok, gave them shelter, only for atreus to injure him and for odin to kill his only living family member.
Bosses never bully TheGamerEyes. TheGamerEyes bullies them!!!
I think Ezio Auditore's quote from AC:II fits here. "No more tricks. No more ancient artifacts. No more weapons. Let us see what you are made of old man".
Can we talk about how nice this person is in fighting 😮

This boss fight was cool and all but the whole time fighting I was really expecting Surtr to come in and pick us up and then we fight Odin in his hand while Surtr is trying to crush us with his fingers or something along those lines, kind of like a homage to the final Baldur fight from GoW 2018.
Despite being way more complex and difficult, the Odin boss fight still does not look as epic in terms of scale compared to the Baldur boss fight imo. I mean, in the last game, we were dealing with Freya's vine snares, draugrs, ice waves, and a literal giant while we fight her blood-lusted son who is finally feeling excited after centuries of being cursed! Seriously, the arenas look gorgeous to look at instead of this foggy, dark environment.
That's an opinion.
I agree.
@@Rageren It certainly is. Don't get me wrong, Odin is way less repetitive to fight than Baldur, but his arena is not the exactly the coolest thing to look at.
I agree
True...
and both of them are less exciting than baldur's first encounter imo, where the ground shattered and trees falling down... It was epic
Or any boss fights from gow 2 & gow 3 (which made the game much more memorable for me)
Yo this makes the fight look 10x better. It’s insane the combos you’re doing! You have my respect fellow gamer.
The multiperson combos at the end of the finale boss battles in this game and the previous are so damn good. A callback to the og games that nonetheless showcases how Kratos isn't alone. He's part of a team, he's got a family, he's not some force of nature anymore.
He is and always will be a force of nature. NO one is replacing Kratos, or making him weaker.
9:17 Odin is a bastard, but I still feel for him when his bird gets killed 😢
Sorry for ruining this for you.: Huggin and Muggin were part of an Unkindness/flock) of Ravens that Odin hunted and eaten.
He kept Huggin and Muggin alive to experiment on... when he says "No" i dont believe thats him feeling bad he lost his favorites "pets... thats him saying "No" as he losses more of his power and the results of a long-term project that was sucefull.
Your actually good unlike most GOW youtubers, you actually have good prary timing(you constantly parry) and your good at dodging red circle attacks and other stuff when needed.
happens when you play a lot of from software games.
*you're
I mean if he hadnt killed Thor he would've definitely been overpowered even if he got a hold of mjolnir Thor is strong AF without it too..he knew it was a tactical disadvantage no matter how messed up it was..sending thrud away was another sign of his intelligence..I still don't think this holds a candle to the Zeus fight but it's pretty damn good.
took 6 games to kill zues took 3 skilled people + 1 for mimirs emotional damage to kill odin
😂
Thor had the potential to be stronger than Odin
That was incredible. Very well done. Amazing.
Great fight i have never seen. Thank you!
I like how they inverted the giant’s death prophecy for Kratos by having Odin take his place, dying in Atreus’ arms as he casts a spell calmly rather than crying out in grief.
Seeing Sindri go from a kind hearted cinnamon roll into pretty much a Dwarf version of God of War 3 Kratos is heartbreaking and interesting at the same time.
9:42 Odin has just forgot the magic and revising his short notes
It all makes sense now. In the first game, we depicted Thor being the bad guy for what he’s done. But all that time, Thor was just a puppet. It seems, Odin pulled the strings. I had hope to spare Thor because of being an abused son, but odin chose that. But at least Thor’s family is proud of him. Even though he paid the ultimate price, he finally had the courage to stand up to his father.
It’s funny because Odin looks and acts like my old manager at Best Buy
Notice how strong Atreus actually is, despite the game depicting him being strong for a mortal, but not that strong.
During the final beatdown, each of Kratos's attacks lands square on Odin's head, and after each attack, Odin stands. He even counterattacks, or at least attempts to. Every attack Atreus lands knocks him straight down. He outperforms his father in terms of physical strength here, and obviously Kratos is holding back, but even so.
Gotta realize kratos is probably setting him up for Atreus tbh
that's a bit of a reach. I don't doubt Atreus for a second, but he needs to eat more rice to get even with Kratios
I think Atreus was fueled by spartan rage in this moment so he had the strength boost. Without spartan rage Kratos and Atreus kinda struggle with feats of strength. Like it gives that boost that makes kratos able to body wack Thor in one punch but without it kratos is doing basic damage.
Yeah Atreus is strong, but look closely, he sprints and builds up momentum before jumping on Odin, while Kratos just... punches.
Edit: and Kratos does uppercuts while Atreus smacks down.
Atreus is not mortal. He is Half-God and Half-Giant.
It's funny if you dissect Odin's dialogue, he contradicts himself, he says all this was before kratos shows up then goes to blame kratos for all of it happening anyway, such a textbook gaslighting
And Freya's expression when Sindri smashes Odin's spirit nut is just priceless
Loved the fight... The best fights everrrr.. thank uu soo much.. made my days
I love in the final fight he is next to his father instead of behind him to show how much better as a person and fighter he has become
insane gameplay and great combo brother
I can see the Midgard Daily News headline.
" Father and Son help Stepmom murder her ex husband."
I think odins appereance is meant not to be intimidating like thor and is meant to appear harmless and weak so people are not scared of him and trick them.
yea ur right cuz if you look at his jacket it’s way bigger than him and acts more like a cape shows that odin in a way is much bigger and stronger than he appears if that makes sense
4:02 Freya came in from the one side Odin couldn't see from-

В моём случае, я восхищаюсь не игрой, а игроком! Шикарный геймплей!
Bro your gameplay portrays the GOD of War in the most accurate way I see Kratos just destroying Gods. This fight was just absolutely legendary.
I wish Thor wasn’t killed off. He was a pretty good guy.
Good guy is a stretch; he slaughtered his mothers' people and was too busy getting drunk to be a proper father to his kids
good guy bro he killed all the giants
Lmao this is not Marvel Thor dude, Thor is a fucked up brainwashed killing machine
@@Abdullah00234 Kratos destroyed the Greek Pantheon, what's your point
@@sparkist95 Kratos killed the Gods for a reason even tho the mortals died as a result. Thor killed the Giants only because Odin saw them win in Ragnarok, somenthing that didnt even happen in the first place. Killing the Giants is what gets him killed in the first place. Just how imprisoning Fenrir makes Fenrir eat him in the mythos, its basically self fulfilling prophecy. So no, its not the same. Thor and Odin kill without cause.
one of the few no damage boss fights ive seen that actually has style
I think that Odin needed to be more difficult... Not tougher, but since he's a wily wizardly type, he should have been an offensive juggernaut, with a nonstop deluge of magic for the player to have to avoid while trying to get an attack in here and there.
I was thinking the same thing today. I was expecting the fight to feel like nightmare Cirno (touhou)
Al igual que en el primero el reto en este juego está en los jefes opcionales y no en la historia principal
YES! After so many optional bosses having godlike strength and patterns, I was very disappointed with Odin. Odin quite literally should have been the toughest boss in the game, with many set pieces and just like you said nonstop magic attacks.
i like to imagine that the mask there went into the rift into the void between universes and after knocking around for a bit, it fell into the Universe of The Mask.
Felt so bad for Thor. I thought he’d be just like Oden.
When Kratos told the story to Freya about how hard it can be to seek forgiveness when you believe your not worthy. That was Thor as well. Thor felt irredeemable after what he did to the giants at the behest of Oden. He had resigned himself to being Oden’s monster, and drank himself to oblivion to cope. His daughter, through Kratos’ words and the fact Kratos also knows what it’s like to destroy his own race (Greek gods), he was redeemed.
I like how they have some references to old gow games like kratos able to slow time for a while and his spear kinda resembles the spear in gow gos except the exploding part
Just like Thor, Odin is a tank.
Your style is impeccable mate
If you consider the fact that Odin is a God of War as well, makes this fight even cooler.
No, that's tyr
Man this guy definitely has spider sense. Otherwise can't explain how the hell he able to bounce it back within a blink of an eye
Ah the way you play is so epic!!!
I like how ur so good at games
I kinda hope he has more melee attack though, considering his staff is a. . . spear. Not just a cane.
He doesn't even throw it even once, even though Gungnir's popular main ability to always strike its target is so cool.
If it has the ability to break shield, that one-time shieldless combat mechanic wouldn't just become one time thing.
Litterly all I want for Christmas in new game plus for this masterpeice. What a great damn game. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore

It's never going to stop being hype and hilarious in equal parts that during that final beatdown, Freya damn near threw a teenager at her ex.
3:39 that is the walk when you know no one can hurt you.

Missed opportunity to have him look like the concept art at least at the end of the game... it looked so much cooler
I gotta be honest: the first time I saw this scene at 4:14 I thought Freya was about to be revealed as the real big bad. Like she'd been successfully gaslighting all the realms into believing Odin was the problem, but she was the real evil.
I dunno if I'm happy I was wrong or not.

im just taking notes bro wtf are these beautiful combos
Ngl, I really thought they'd throw in a little scene of Kratos losing his cool while Rage of Sparda's playing.
Still tho, truly a step-up from the previous game, although why they thought scrapping most of the bare-handed combos and moves ks beyond me
