One of the greatest rock songs of 1969 (along with Led Zeppelin's "Good Times, Bad Times") that today's generation seems to have missed. Thanks for showing how to play this, and I hope it gets rediscovered. After 44 years, it will certainly outlast today's rap crap.
Doug, Excellent Lesson! Just found your channel. I love and appreciate your teaching style! I've spent "many decades" teaching private in-person guitar lessons in my earlier years. I am now retired from that gig. Your video reminds me of what it is like to have a guitar lesson with a real good teacher who is going to teach you not only "how to play a song" but also encourage you to "learn about music and music theory" to gain a better understanding for "really learning how to play the guitar".~Michael
your lesson is great , the only one i found that goes into the rythem and the 16th note counting. im a beginner and i have a ways to go on that but youve given me a reward to work for . ...being able to strum this great song
Terry's version can't be copied, only imitated LOL. your style and skill sounds great, plus your the only one that uses the pinky like me. Thanks Teacher🎼🎸
The Amaj7 and D6 add9/A voicings at the beginning are immediately recognizable...and beautiful. Funny that D6 add9/A is created by an inversion of the pentatonic scale.
Still working on this and singing. When I sing it I start being dran to the downbeat. One thing I've found that helps is imagining that you're singing it while you're playing("so mostly I'm silent"). Any suggestions about singing tunes that requires the guitar to be doing that syncopation stuff?
Hey there, This is a hard tune to sing and play for sure. I've work with a student on this one for about 5 months! But he can now do it! I usually speak the words (instead of singing) at first while playing the tune at a very slow tempo. Try working on 1 phrase at a time. repeat, repeat repeat…Thanks!
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist It has 18 frets. 12 frets means that it meets the body at the 12th fret not the 14th fret. These grand concert models have a shorter scale length too...I find them easier to play. www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/512ce-12-fret-0
@@dougedgell cool. I got a music shop that's a Taylor dealer not too far from my house I might check one out and see if they have any just to give it a little play
@@popstotexas Oh... got it. I've tried that before with the software that I use and I did not have success with it. You're the 2nd person who mentioned this, so I better find a different software to create the scores... Thanks I hope it's helpful nonetheless. Thanks for purchasing!
You can also speed up the playback. I like using the 1.5x speed to get through dialogue faster while still being able to comprehend the subject matter.
@@dougedgell Man, you handled that nitpicking alot better than I would have. People can be unreal. How about "Thanks for your hard work posting this so I can learn this song in a fraction of time it would have taken me on my own. If it would have happened at all !!

Thank you. Same question as another: Could you tell us what Taylor model that is?
Taylor 512 12 fret with L.R. Baggs Element VTC pickup Thanks for watching!
Lovely song, great manageable chords… strumming a nightmare, especially when you’re trying to sing also 😂
What model Taylor is that

Is it similar to the Taylor mini GS?
But I think that has full frettage

Wow three minutes of talking before you even begin the song. That’s way too much talking
Thanks Bill, I get long winded sometimes but hey it's a FREE lesson!! Just skip ahead that's what I do. Good luck! It's a great tune.
