The same phrase in Japanese that Brogy used here to say "we came to pick you up" 「迎えに来た(ぞ/よ)」is used by Merry when they came for the strawhats during the Buster Call at Enies Lobby.
I saw this on X where someone pointed out that Dory and Brogy was introduced on chapter 116 and came back on 1106 but what's really cool was the chapter names 116 "Giants" and 1106 "On your side" "Giants on your side"

Merphy cope-advocating for a Kizaru redemption arc for months and then forgetting his name out of sheer exasperation right at the beginning of this video is such a mood

I don’t know who’s video I watched recently, either grand line reviews or tekking, but it talked about how the 3 admirals were supposed to represent Japanese work culture. They were modeled off actors, but each one shows how they are affected by office culture. Aokiji is the slacker who quits, kizaru is the guy who is defeated and doesn’t know anything else now, and Akainu is the one who fully embraces company culture.
Kizaru feels like he's getting weaker as his resolve wavers, which is perfectly in line with the rest of the story. The man is choosing his duty over his relations and it's showing the cracks in his armor
I'm a fan of the idea that free will is a natural condition of anything that has a soul. And Vegapunk previously mentioned in this arc that the soul likely exists and weighs 21 grams, which may be connected to how he gave objects devil fruits. We saw the Going Merry have a soul after the love the crew gave it, and all the previous objects that had fruits seemed cared for by their owners, possibly related to the animism aspect of Shintoism (Many others have made this observation so I'll give credit to the Dawn & Dusk One Piece analysis videos since they are the ones I found most recently and the creator is a Japanese speaker that likes to address details lost in translation) So going off the detail that Kuma has his pads, I love the idea that the warrior of liberation could be able to free Kuma's soul from his condition at least enough to experience Nika and exercise his will at least temporarily. While I doubt Kuma's main body will leave Egghead without any consequences, I have more doubts that Bonney will leave this arc empty-handed of a guardian, whether it's Kuma's main body, a pacifista or the seraphim with Kuma's memories installed. Although, I don't want to kill Kuma but there's still an event that will shock the world, which means the world needs to be aware of what happens, and I think Vegapunk still has more means to broadcast a shock to the world, unless Kuma can transmit his memories around the world and shock them that way (like his attack, Ursa Shock. Or maybe its a team effort, with Vegapunk doing the transmission and Kuma doing the shock, before one is sacrificed). And I like the idea of Kuma's will and fruit being inherited by someone more than Vegapunk's (yes I am a Vivi-pawpaw-truther, let me have hope)
The art in this chapter, especially on Bonney's panels, was so good. On Kizaru not turning - Assuming he has Observation Haki, maybe he saw that Luffy would punch him, and let it happen? I actually don't like Kizaru much, so I'm fine if he really is just committing to loyalty to Saturn. I think we're also gonna get the reveal that the Satellites titles "Good" "Evil" etc. aren't literally what they're programmed to be. Vegapunk just asked each of them to totally give in to a specific trait he assigned to them, to differentiate their fields and experiences. That, or Lilith really is "Evil" but will have to grow to be more then that to carry on Vegapunk's will. Hey, growing beyond being "evil" worked for Piccolo in Dragon Ball. :D Lastly, I think Lilith won't be the ONLY Satellite to survive. I think York will to, and end up escaping with the Blackbeard Pirates and that's why Oda's put them here. Though how that will shake down, I have no idea.
16:00 Makes sense for the giants to remember, honestly. They live 3 times as long as a human, and Kureha is 141. For the giants, the void century was 2, at most 3 generations ago. Dorry's grandfather as a kid can have met JoyBoy, for all we know. Not to mention they worship the Sun God themselves
Kureha is abnormally old though, she's an ancient old woman who still insists that she's youthful. Plus she says multiple times there's a secret to her youth, so it's definitely not an age anyone can usually get to
@@MayMoment_ Not according to Oda. 140 is the normal lifespan of a human who lived a life with no problems. As life kicks you in the balls with the daily struggles, that lifespan gets shortened. That's more or less what he said in a foreword before the timeskip. So 140 in One Piece should not necessarily be something unattainable. Based on that, the normal lifespan of a giant is 420 years (3 times that of a human). This explains why Jorul, the Giant killed by Big Mom, was about 350, the normal human lifespan would need to be 115 or so for a giant to reach 350 and they would do so already at death's door. After the timeskip, based on that, he was asked in an SBS what had happened to Kureha, since she was 139, now would be 141, hence over the 140 "limit". He replied that in the world of One Piece there are normal humans, with that 140 years lifespan, and super humans, with a longer lifespan, and that Kureha belongs to the latter. And if we take the "normal human" and "super human" as "normal people" and "super people", which is also an accurate translation, the same principle of longer lifespan applies to giants as well, but that's ambiguous, we would need clarification on the subject from Oda.
@@MayMoment_ Oda's headcanon? Yeah, same as the rest of the story. I choose to believe that's what you meant, otherwise you are saying Oda's words are my headcanon, which would make you incredibly stupid
If Kuma genuinely is the last Buccaneer in the world then that makes the scene with Bonney even more emotional for me. She inherited the dream and promise of a now extinct people and she finally gets to see their promised liberator in the flesh.
All this time we thought we were going to Elbaf, turns out, Elbaf came to us 😂 I loved this chapter. It's exactly what I've been waiting for ever since we saw Kuma's flashback. Of all the g5 shenanigans, this chapter, my favorite was when Luffy turned all of Egghead Island rubber and bouncy. Even the marines were confused why the island was suddenly wobbly.
There were definitely a couple people who theorized it was the Giants coming. Though it was not a popular theory. And i don't think I saw anyone who said specifically those two.
At the start of the chapter Dorry and Broggy say that they knew about Strawhat on Egghead from the newspaper. In the Mother Caramel flashback in the Whole Cake Island arc we found out that Elbaf worships the sun god. And Elbaf is close enough to Egghead that making it there in less than a day is no challenge for Giants.
I loved this chapter. It was my favorite in a long time. There was so many emotional punches in one chapter that i could barely handle it. I was so excited to see your reaction on it. I knew it would be awesome and I was right.
It’s hard to explain, but there was a certain love that oda drew Bonnie with in this chapter. I think she grew on him in this arc She is definitely one of my favorites now 🩷
Nothing Vegapunk did was particularly personal against Saturn, it was just selfish, thats why Saturn ignored it, and later he just let Vegapunk live a little so he can see him suffer. Giving someone, anyone, higher authority over Saturn, was a personal "attack" on Saturn's pride, and that's when the "bug" must die instantly, and so he did.
Oda is such a master. He is the best at setting up a mystery, letting everyone have their guesses, and then hitting us with an answer that NO ONE guessed, but it makes more sense than everyone’s guesses.
For the artist that is an amazing thumbnail and to merphy what a great episode and lastly but certainly not least thanks to oda I feel like I have been spoiled with how many great chapters we have received as of late
I'm increasingly convinced Saturn's mythical Zoan has something to do with agreements or contracts, giving him power over people who break contracts with him. A deal with the devil gimmick. Vegapunk's phrasing of his willing sacrifice in openly breaking a contract wouldn't make sense otherwise, Saturn had already decided to kill him, but wasn't succeeding until the secret addition to Pacifista command hierarchy became clear. But then: Poof, stabbed through the chest. And Vegapunk knows that being caught in breach of contract with Saturn means placing himself under Saturn's Power of Punitive Clauses, and this is why he knows he's essentially saving Bonney at the cost of his own life. This would also explain why Kizaru might have fed Luffy, but still kept obeying Saturn's direct orders. He can't openly defy Saturn without instantly dying, but can undermine him on the sly to try and ensure he won't succeed in following orders. So, even if Kizaru's decided to switch sides, we won't see it happen overtly until he knows he can finish Saturn off or until he's forced to follow an order that he can't set himself up to fail at. At least that's why I think Garp refused promotion to Admiral and Sword task force members are all Marines who turned in their resignations. Something about the structure of the Marines puts them firmly under the Five Elder Stars' control.
Vegapunk putting one over on Saturn multiple times is appropriate because it reflects the absurdity of Saturn viewing someone like Vegapunk as an insect. The world government is, top down, holding a very distorted and inflated view of themselves.
Bonney and Kumas story has really been hitting me hard. My mother passed away 7 months ago and i found her. Today is her Birthday she would be 57. This story makes me think of her so much. She tried her best to keep her kids safe. She went through so much even after all the suffering she had gone through in her life before having a family. She did it as a single parent without my father. She was my mom. She was my hero. She was my Kuma.
I always figured there had to be more to the authority chip than the information that we were given. There may even be more to be revealed later. One scene that stuck out to me ever since the heirarchy was revealed was the scene in Sabaody where Kuma was able to stop PX-1 from shooting Usopp. Kuma isn't an elder, Vegapunk, Sentomaru or even Cipher Pol, yet he was able to override Sentomaru's command to target the Straw Hats merely by saying "Stop, PX-1." I figured it means there's more to the chip, or Kuma is a secret Vegapunk satellite, and it looks like it's the former.
I also love the fact that such a cute, beautiful small crew, our most lovable crew, starwhats and let alone Luffy, such a innocent boy, there's a huge kind of responsibility on them. They don't even know, how much it matters, how much its important for the world. I love this fact ❤
Remember at Big Mom flashback, the giants where praying for "the sun god". And mother caramel let appear a sun and called him sun god to calm the giants.
I was sitting next to a friend of mine when this ch. came out. We immediately read it and were both ecstatic when my prediction of the Giants showing up turned out to be true!
in my thought Kizaru is just waiting for Luffy to be back up to stop him and doesn't really want to do the bidding of Saturn without disobeying his order.
I'm so sad that there's a break next week D: First time I need to wait, since I caught up in the manga at the end of last year. Feels so bad not having a "next chapter" to read.
I like that when Vegapunk says the Buster Call is futile he's really saying all the Buster Calls we've seen were futile : you can't hope to snuff hundreds of years of hope when the sun is already shining over it
I subscribe to Tekking's take on Vegapunk dying: Losing the Stella just means we're down to three vegapunks. I think the fate of Punk Records is actually a bigger question than vegapunk surviving assuming at least one satellite is still around. I just really want Atlas to survive cause I love her design. I'd honestly be surprised if Kuma survives past this arc. In terms of character arc/narrative role I'm not sure where he'd go from here. Meanwhile we still haven't seen much plot use of devil fruit reincarnation and he's a prime candidate.
Here's an idea for you about Tissine's beautiful prints Murphy! If you don't have space to hang every print, get a digital poster that you can upload the pictures into so they cycle through! I'd love to see *all* of them on your wall 😍
I think the deus ex machina is a big deal since it's the only reason the entire crew didn't get flattened here and there I thought it was quite a lazy outcome plot wise, but it gets saved by the amazing character element. Which is basically a lot of One Piece honestly ! Plot is not Oda's strong suit, he's a character and world writer first and foremost and often stumbles when it comes to plot progression like here.
I never thought Vegapunk was going to die but it kind of settled it for me when Sanji said "I won't leave without him [vegapunk]". Like I don't think Oda would make Sanji a liar like that idk.
The giants probably identified Sun God by Luffy's hair in the bounty which is why the Gorosei wanted them to change Luffy's bounty picture at the end of Wano
In japanese chapter, Kizaru said Bonney and Kuma would be "piled on top of each other to make four". This is an old saying from over 300 years ago, meaning that the bodies of a man and woman in love are piled on top of each other and slashed off at once.
The diagram when Vegapunk was explaining how Punk Records works puts his Body(Satella,Pride?) as a 7th Satellite Kaku's diagram has the 6 Satellites coming off Vegapunk which is isnt accurare My guess is,Since,Satella is already missing a brain, his body is more like a Cyborg/Puppet of Punk Records which is the real Vega Punk.....likely in a Hanger at a "Site B" Future City in Elbaugh the Civilians were fleeing Egghead for (Egghead Hanger Hanger just had a extender Router that got moved to the Sunny with a cloning bay and spare parts
My theory for a while now is that only York, Lillith and maybe Atlas will be the only Vegapunks to survive. I think its fitting for the master of science to not make it himself but for his clone ceeations to carry on instead. I like the idea of just two living, since if York is freed and taken to the WG and Lillith and/or Atlas escapes with the straw hats, it means both sides have access to Vegapunks knowledge of history, the mother flame, the seraphim, etc. The WG losing that is too huge, but them having it and knowing the straw hats have it too? Thats tension that pushes the two forces against each other on a faster schedule, as both know how dangerous a Vegapunk in your enemies hands could be.

@@AnyMEmdq literal headcanon holy moly
@@MayMoment_ Oda's headcanon? Yeah, same as the rest of the story. I choose to believe that's what you meant, otherwise you are saying Oda's words are my headcanon, which would make you incredibly stupid
If Kuma genuinely is the last Buccaneer in the world then that makes the scene with Bonney even more emotional for me. She inherited the dream and promise of a now extinct people and she finally gets to see their promised liberator in the flesh.
All this time we thought we were going to Elbaf, turns out, Elbaf came to us 😂
I loved this chapter. It's exactly what I've been waiting for ever since we saw Kuma's flashback.
Of all the g5 shenanigans, this chapter, my favorite was when Luffy turned all of Egghead Island rubber and bouncy. Even the marines were confused why the island was suddenly wobbly.
Wow the art on your thumbnail is mesmerizing. So beautiful
Your artist goes above and beyond once again Yay tissine!
There was so much foreshadowing to it being the giants too and it went completely over our heads!! I was so excited when I saw their faces
Thank you for zooming in on the thumbnail art, I didn’t see the detail in the dancing homies in her eyes
I think she grew on him in this arc
She is definitely one of my favorites now 🩷
He is a father to girls himself so I imagine this part of the story is personal is some aspects.
@@cthulhupriestess ahh see that totally makes sense
Yes, Bonnie & Kuma finally got to see Sun God Nika luffy 😍💖🖤✨⚡🔥
that thumbail of Bonney crying is absolutely breathtaking
Nothing Vegapunk did was particularly personal against Saturn, it was just selfish, thats why Saturn ignored it, and later he just let Vegapunk live a little so he can see him suffer.
Giving someone, anyone, higher authority over Saturn, was a personal "attack" on Saturn's pride, and that's when the "bug" must die instantly, and so he did.
Sending love to the artist!!
Was waiting for your take on the chapter because it was so emotional and cool and that last panel gives me so much hype
The artwork on the thumbnails is getting awesomer and awesomer. Love it!
The artist is going places with those drawings
What a thumbnail. Tissine outdid herself with this one damn.
Vegapunk putting one over on Saturn multiple times is appropriate because it reflects the absurdity of Saturn viewing someone like Vegapunk as an insect. The world government is, top down, holding a very distorted and inflated view of themselves.
Im at kumas appearance in thriller bark for my second run though the anime and this just makes me appreciate Oda even more for setting all this up
I just re-read the arc last night, it's insane how quickly everything happened
This arc is quickly climbing the One Piece Arc tier list
Bonney and Kumas story has really been hitting me hard. My mother passed away 7 months ago and i found her. Today is her Birthday she would be 57. This story makes me think of her so much. She tried her best to keep her kids safe. She went through so much even after all the suffering she had gone through in her life before having a family. She did it as a single parent without my father. She was my mom. She was my hero. She was my Kuma.
I assumed Dorry and Broggy knew about Nika from the books that Saul saved from Ohara
This chapter might be my favorite read of all time. Nothing like watching Merphy fangirling over OP.
God damn the art this week is PEAK!
Let those drums be heard loud 🥁🔥☀
That thumbnail whaaaaaaaaat?? Amazing!
Thumbnail is 🔥🔥🔥🔥.. Indeed it was another amazing chapter.
in my thought Kizaru is just waiting for Luffy to be back up to stop him and doesn't really want to do the bidding of Saturn without disobeying his order.
I'm so sad that there's a break next week D: First time I need to wait, since I caught up in the manga at the end of last year. Feels so bad not having a "next chapter" to read.
Just came to say that thumbnail is amazing 🥲
I love how with this chapter, the last chapter name "the heigt of Folly" was aimed not at the Kuma Family but at that nasty spider tick
Damn, I HAVE TO say, this artwork of Bonney is amazing...
MERPHY!! YOUR ARTIST OUTDID HERSELF TODAY!
😂 I love Merphy's takes so much! LOL
I like that when Vegapunk says the Buster Call is futile he's really saying all the Buster Calls we've seen were futile : you can't hope to snuff hundreds of years of hope when the sun is already shining over it
There was DO MUCH HAPPENING in this chapter 🤯🤯🤯
I subscribe to Tekking's take on Vegapunk dying: Losing the Stella just means we're down to three vegapunks. I think the fate of Punk Records is actually a bigger question than vegapunk surviving assuming at least one satellite is still around. I just really want Atlas to survive cause I love her design. I'd honestly be surprised if Kuma survives past this arc. In terms of character arc/narrative role I'm not sure where he'd go from here. Meanwhile we still haven't seen much plot use of devil fruit reincarnation and he's a prime candidate.
Gorosei teleportation or summoning circles are distance bound. Because otherwise he wouldn't need a ship to travel
Everytime Shanks shows up he doing gossip. Of course it was him, flip big news Morgans, Shanks is the Gossip Girl from the OP world.
Such an incredible opportunities Oda could have taken, and yet he never fails!
that art is AMAZING! 😢
Coming back to this chapter now, Kizaru only did something when he knew Luffy was ready again.
Here's an idea for you about Tissine's beautiful prints Murphy! If you don't have space to hang every print, get a digital poster that you can upload the pictures into so they cycle through! I'd love to see *all* of them on your wall 😍
I think the deus ex machina is a big deal since it's the only reason the entire crew didn't get flattened here and there
I thought it was quite a lazy outcome plot wise, but it gets saved by the amazing character element. Which is basically a lot of One Piece honestly ! Plot is not Oda's strong suit, he's a character and world writer first and foremost and often stumbles when it comes to plot progression like here.
Vegapunk is definitely still alive, I just cant imagine the worlds smartest man doesn't have some contingency plans for his body.
That artwork of Bonney is amazing!
Lilith the Evil sort if fits the theme of leader, she's free-spirited like luffy too
The diagram when Vegapunk was explaining how Punk Records works puts his Body(Satella,Pride?) as a 7th Satellite
Kaku's diagram has the 6 Satellites coming off Vegapunk which is isnt accurare
My guess is,Since,Satella is already missing a brain, his body is more like a Cyborg/Puppet of Punk Records which is the real Vega Punk.....likely in a Hanger at a "Site B" Future City in Elbaugh the Civilians were fleeing Egghead for (Egghead Hanger Hanger just had a extender Router that got moved to the Sunny with a cloning bay and spare parts
