Congrats Nick! I watched the full video. It would be beneficial to make a part 2 disclosing start up cost, material cost, labor hours, revenue, and then your profit. 👍
Great video, maybe look at doing a side video channel dedicated to running a business and do the main channel on hobby stuff. One item to discuss is transitioning from "regular" job to "dream" job. Meaning how to take care of stuff that corporations handle like medical insurance, 401k, and other benefits that you will lose when going self employed. I don't know if anyone has discussed this before, but seems important to me especially if you have a family to support.
That's awesome Nick. I entered to win. Vegas Baby!!! I don't have a laser yet so I can think of no better way to get prepared than LAZERCON. First Round is on me. Congrats again on a successful year my friend.
Cheers Homie!
I use the SN1812 LR model at work, the only negative about it is you won’t be able to achieve absolute 0 (cornering material) since it has the scissor lift. Otherwise it’s a pretty solid machine. Congrats on your success and new machine. I’m still working on making my laser side hustle a FT gig, so I can work from home.
I like your videos and have learned alot but this video was just 1 GIANT infomercial. Thanks for the sales pitch
This is the great video I didn't know I needed!
Well done, sir. Your vids were among the very first I watched while researching lasers. I Finally decided that the 20w laser I was going to buy was a waste of money and ordered the 10x xtool w/ rotary tool. I'll learn on it, suffer with the slowness of it, and make some things to sell while saving up for a full co2 unit. For someone like me who can't hold a job for health reasons, this is a dream come true. And now I've seen what CNC milling and 3D printing can do... I am psyched. Again, congrats and thanks for the inspiration.
Awesome!
Love those shorts!
so 7 minute infomercial for AP Laser. Is there going to be part 2 video of how you actually made $98000 with the laser? Was the laser provided free of charge. what was the actual profit from engraving?
The laser is so versatile you can create your own niche.
Have a good one!
Hello this is off-topic but I’m literally on the edge of buying a AP laser the 28th 1690 W just wondering is it a good laser it’s a lot of money to spend. It’s my very first laser really need some help. Thank you.
Will they bring it to my home and set it up since I live in the Vegas area?
I am not positive on that one. You'd have to ask them. There may be a fee.
What model do you have Nick?
The SN4024
*I need to get on Your Level Brotha*
Hey Nick. I am in a wheelchair do you think someone in my position can use this machine? I am tired of being fired all the time and I need job security.
Sure thing. I think the height on this one would do just fine, but they have a low order unit that drops even lower.
I think you got this!
Did you consider a thunder before you bought that AP Lazer? I am trying to decide right now and the difference in price has me wondering.
I did. Honestly it was the customer support that everyone raved about that sold me. And they did not disappoint!
Ps. Both great units. You can’t go wrong either way.
Which machine do you have? What's the ballpark pricing? I'm not entering all my info on the web page to see a catalog.
I have the SN4024. And there’s is pricing on the website.
@@BuildDadBuild I apparently was on a different site, thanks.
Hello Sir, I like this concept too. This is the only option I've found to message you,so it's a lil off topic. My question is about you're Fractal Wood Burner. I haven't seen lil contact points. They almost look like wood burning tip heads, or Sauter machine tip. Can you fill me in please ,a lil more. Thank you and gave a great week
They are just little spikey guys...LOL
@BuildDadBuild but what exactly are they? I need a to make a Lil set too,for finer lines & moveable, upon the wood. What did you use? Thank you Sir, cheers!
@@kcgonzales3220 I didn’t build my
Machine. I bought it. I honestly don’t know.
Soooo how much is the machine?
Depends on which machine, which options, etc. check out the link below:
ads.aplazer.com/affiliate/259880/
What is the profit on that?
Think I came in at right about $56K
Been watching you since I got my first xtool, now I have 5 hopefully in the next year I'll have a Co2 laser. Thanks for all your help 😊
Build Dad Build, I really like what you do with your channel. You are very informative and add humor along the way. I also like that you are not condescending the viewers that may not be as experienced. It’s fun to see what you have going on. I’m 59 years old and I have a hobby diode laser that I’m having fun with. Never sold anything but I’m having a blast make things for my family! I can see you are close with your family. Everything we do is for the family! Wouldn’t have it any other way! Good luck with your business!
thanks homie!
I agree, AP is one of the best on the market, or at least in the top three. But I have to disagree about not using a diode to run a small business. I still have diodes in the other shop that batch out small retail products along side the Co2s. There are advantages and disadvantages to both based on the particular product. I have several top tier Patrons who have 6-figure craft businesses using a diode.
It would be nice if you disclosed if you actually paid for the unit itself. At the price of a SUV, it means alot how much you actually paid for it yourself. Them having 100k+ subs here to potentially convert to clients is very valuable to them.
to be frank, it looks like a good machine, but with that being said i think there is a large margin between this price and other competitors
You pay for quality. Apparently you haven’t priced SUVs lately. And they finance.
Anyone download the catalog to see the prices yet? Dont want to give my contact info to them just to see a price.
The prices are on their website
@@BuildDadBuild can't find them for the lasers. They want you to give your contact info to download the price catalog.
There is a price list on the website.
What’s wrong with you giving the price you’d paid? Seem like it’s a secret
Great video. I watch these to drool and be inspired. It is what I want to do, but getting to the point where it is doable with all the behind-the-scene and legal parts, is the hard part. Making the items less so. I really want an AP, the only downside is the space here, nowhere I can use that so I am kinda stuck to using "desktop" models.
He really on made $8k with the laser. The other $90k came from advertising for AP Lasers.
Haters gonna hate. Hope your day gets better. 👍🏻👍🏻
@@BuildDadBuild No hate. I made 4x times that off my CNC Router as my laser sits idle 98% of the year. The video title is deceiving. It doesn't show how you made $98k it shows the laser.
You need to re-read your original comment. That's straight up ignorant.
Hope your day gets better!
Cheers
I have been doing this for 4 years and made about that in 4 years. I call BS
Been doing it for longer than that brother...
So… “Buy expensive laser… make money.” That’s all the info you gave us. We still have absolutely zero clue “How you made 98k w your laser.” You literally said… “I bought this laser… then MONEEEEYYYY!” 😂🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
That’s because to opportunities are endless
So how you made 98k was... Buy a bigger laser? Were there any other steps? 😅
I made and sold things with the laser.
@@BuildDadBuild "How I made 98k: bought a laser, made and sold things." Got it 😁
The possibilities are endless.
Dude I love this channel but htis video is 100% a commercial. Its sucks, cuz you're not an actor. I love your wood working content.
Thanks for being an ass?
Cheers!
When Dad Build Dad is unintentionally but intentionally racist. “Racist adjacent.” 😅
What the fuck are you talking about? I'm the least racist person you'll ever meet.
Hey Nick! What model do you have?
The SN4024
Would be nice to see the prices without having to give them my name, number and email. Plenty of other manufacturers out there.
There’s a price guide on the website
@@BuildDadBuild Yeah, but they wanted all my info, at least every way I tried to download it. I pushed a couple download buttons located on different parts of the page and the little name, number and email box kept popping up. I’m sure it’s a nice machine, but I just wanted an idea of how much without getting called and bombarded with emails.
I can't find pricing either without entering my info....nope!
There is literally a price comparison tool on their site:
aplazer.com/laser-machine-pricing-comparison/
@@BuildDadBuild thanks, definitely not the site I was at, lol....and whoa, not in my wildest dreams will I be able to buy one of those!
Sorry 2816 90w
I responded to you message on Facebook 👍🏻👍🏻 great machine. You’ll LOVE it.
when did you quit your J O B ?
2017? I think.
Congrats nick
Very cool lazer.
Congratulations
Great info video. After watching your video, I wanted to go to LaserCon, and I was lucky my Vegas trip is on those dates.
Sweet
Nick, I'm at that point of using my laser as a business. I will see you in Vegas in 16 days!!!!
Awesome!
You have to spend $100 to Enter the Contest. =0(
No you don’t. I would never hold a contest like that. Try the link now.

Thanks now it works!

Call my in Cup Cake Let’s Roll to Vegas!!! 😂
Yeah…I coped a messed up link on accident. Thanks for pointing that out!
That's awesome man, I'm honestly proud and happy for you! Ps, I gotta know where you got those cargo shorts. If I win in the contest and we're gonna be twinsies, I gotta get a pair of those! 😂
I bought those specifically for LazerCon!

You should see the suspenders I bought! LOL
@@BuildDadBuild are they camo as well?? Those are nice! Definitely ordering some today.
@@ToddsLaserCreations nah. Orange paisley.
@@BuildDadBuild I know I could probably sport the suspenders 👌🏻
Congratulations Nick! Ive been watching your videos for awhile now. Been wanting to start my own side hussel laser business for about a year but never followed through. This video has changed that. Seeing your progress is damn inspiring. Hopefully one day ill join you in making it my full time job. 55 hours on my feet every week wrenching on cars is starting to take its toll.
Reading that made me hot. LOL. Good luck homie.
I would say that 90% of my problem in selling any of my woodworking or laser creations is deciding on a proper price point. I have a difficult time calculating how much mark up and how to figure my time into the equation.
I base mine a lot of Etsy research, honestly.
