Hi Eric, thanks for sharing I can see why my late father was into making and machining and building steam trains (I think it was 5inch) and steam traction engines. Enjoyed the drivers view, thanks keep them coming..
Omg I work on the new building site next door. Saw the track through the fence and thought that would be a great fun to have a ride on. Didn’t realise it was so big.
I fire on the bluebell and love Compton’s growing up with Hither Green depot at the end of our road and later being second man/ trainman on various 33s at Brighton and driven a few. But I’ve driven swordfish on the bluebell and it’s boring. Nothing to do. A steam loco is alive andtests you all the time, to make it do what you want you got to be good. Enjoy your 94

I built three 5” gauge maxitrak steam loco’s between the ages of 8 & 14 with my dad. My late father also used to run Maxitrak as a director along with the owner Andy and they sacked him and took his retirement money, this ultimately caused his death at the age of 59 due to stress. He had a massive stroke one day as he couldn’t cope. I blame them until the day I die. I have the loco’s in my man cave in his memory.

Hi Eric, I bought a Kingscale Black5 and i love it, i,v sorted a few minor things and made some improvements, ie- Cab Windows and Doors, also Handrails on the Tender, I'm currently weathering it down and letting it get really dirty, I remember engines in this state and they do look more authentic, (my opinion), I dont have a track but do have a rolling road in my shed with a Loco shed type chimney that gets all the smoke away as i burn House Coal, smells great, enjoy the hobby.
@@UndergroundEric No not at the moment, I'm located west coast scotland and things are a bit thin on the ground, I may have to load the loco when i go touring down back to england in the hope of finding somewhere to run.

How much weight is in the loco so there's traction? Surely a bloke and take of coaches is quite a lot to haul? Are there roller bearings in the wagon you sit on?
Looks like fun. Trains, fresh air and friends, what more could you ask for? I'd get that auto coach painted in RTC livery :) Was that a model of Lion running on the line?
Spot on Scott! We absolutely love it. Get away from the world and just have fun. Ha! You arent the first one to suggest that you know! I legit wanted to - the only trouble is it wont match anything else 😭

Ha yes i speak to him, trying to get him to bring his loco over for a run but you chaps are all obviously working far too hard 😝 I spoke to PK the other day on a video chat as it happens! Hope you are well mate
Unlikely. Model engineers are required to build to safe regulations and are tested. Despite this, the HSE still took fright and I was on the committee that worked with the HSE to resolve the issues.
I have a 7.25" gauge london metropolitan metrovick which will pull passengers and beg for more, but it's not as fun as nursing a steam loco and struggling to make gradients.
I am amazed that some of those smaller locos can pull a human along and not just sit there spinning their wheels, any idea of the weight of your Panier tank?
It is pretty impressive the weight they can haul, not sure exactly but obviously with the tanks full its a chunky little thing, if you have a slightly damp rail ect it will slip quite easily

At 5:02, is the axle pump just there to make things easier instead of using the manual water pump, or do you have to use the axle pump?
