Steve...you always seem to make stuff interesting...you do a great job presenting gear...oh, and you are a pretty good picker too...rock on my brother!!!!!
Running this and a mostortion in the loop of my helix right now and it is actually pretty great. (I probably shouldn’t be as surprised as I am). Great explanation btw!
This pedal (I have a newer big box with the bass cut option) into a Tumnus Deluxe is stupid good. ODR1 is its own sound, different than every other OD I have tried, and that's more than I could list.
So about 6 years ago i walked into a shop and saw a nobels odr1 i didnt really know what it was but i thought it looked cool so i asked the guy how much he said $50 so i bought it, i thought it was ok, but never really got along with it, was doing some more research and it was an original from the 90s and it was mint, fast forward about 2 years it was going for about $200 to $300 so i sold it in a trade😞now they're going for about$2000 wow, but now have a silver nobels dt1 distortion and love it it sounds like the vintage odr1 but has a little more gain on tap!!!
So, I have an original Nobels as well as the Nordalnd ODR-C. Love my vintage model, but it is a bit bass heavy/flubby. The newer models sound great; however, the vintage Nobels are notorious for sounding different from one another; so, having only one of the vintage models, it's hard to gather a general consensus of how they stack up against the modern re-issues. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance and great video!
I guess you need to ask yourself what you think comparing the two. I think the modern ones are less amp like. Idky but they sound more like pedals than the vintage. What do you think?
@@SteveSterlacci I completely agree. The vintage ones have more presence and focus. When its on, it sounds seamless. The ODR-C almost sounds too good lol I find it's best as a clean boost. I guess I hate to admit it, but the vintage ones are the best. Why cant Nobels just make an EXACT copy of the vintage? Aesthetics and all. The ironic thing is the vintage ones are know for having cheap parts. I don't get it. I'm afraid mine is going to break, it doesn't feel well made.
Great vid, Steve! I keep buggin' Line 6 to model this in the Helix. There's about 3,000 requests for it on Ideascale. If you have any artist input to Line 6, help us out by twisting some arms (gently, of course!)!!!
@@SteveSterlacci Dang! You deserve to be! Schmooze 'em real good at the next NAMM!!! News on my end; I bought a Duesenberg Session Man guitar last Thursday, delivery on Monday! I'm so freakin' pumped!
@@SteveSterlacci Oh, BTW, I pre-ordered a Nobels ODR-1 Limited Edition Natural from Guitar Center for $139.00. Don't know when I'll get it, though... It's all your dang fault!
It actually is a great pedal,,,,,I've tried analog man ,,and tube screamer 808,,and Maxon,,,,,the sustain and warm cream,,from a Nobel overdrive is like no other
Was talking to Mike over at analogman, and he indicated that it's a great pedal when on. The problem is when it's off.. tone suck and must be in a loop. True?
Just got my first one at a pawn shop. Can someone tell me about the models a bit? The front looks just like the OG’s in the video. Is there variety within those that appear that way beyond accidental part switching? Some of them are insane prices. Tried looking for an explanation online, and nothing found yet. Mine is made in Korea. It says 1993-1995.
Check out these new, updated versions from the actual original designer ua-cam.com/video/BkFTE6U2T88/v-deo.html
Those sound killer

I always wanted one of those!

Thanks JW! I do the same all the time
I quite like to set up this pedal to low gain-ish being pushed by a Turbo RAT at its lowest gain setting. All this into a JTM45. Glorious!!
oh heck yes!
Love to see the modern version of this tool! Thank you bro
Starting to put it together!

Its definitely its own! I dont think the reissues capture the magic of the old one tbh. But they get the vibe

Hey Steve, can you make Capture for the QC?
Theyre already there!
Tim Pierce jacked the prices on these things when he made his review 😆
Possibly!
I smashed the subscribe button and even rang that bell! Another .0000000003 cents in your pocket!
So thankful!!!

ODR-CC+ is my desert island OD. Forget the stock market, just buy Nordland pedals... Better yet, don't. Leave them for the astute.
LOL Since owning my Nordlands, this bad boy has been stored safely in bubble wrap until this demo
@@SteveSterlacci And back it goes 🤣 - there are pioneers, and there are perfectionists. Rarely, do we get that in the same man.

Some have that problem, this ones fine from my experience with it the last 5 years or so

If its an ODR 1, then you got yourself an original and a winner. If you want to sell it for what you paid, i will buy it!
What other drive/disorti9n pedals does this pair well with?
Lightspeed, prince of tone, rc booster, mostortion... plenty of options
I'm stacking ODR-1 with Lightspeed it gives a solid tone 😍😍😍
@@howardnielvillamor8422 great choices!
Sounds nice, but I'll stick to my Helix. It does everything I need. :)
Of course!
better than centaur
I think so!
This is me watching
Thank you! Lol maybe the algoGods will change the fate of this video now !
Plenty of good clowns out there now. You don’t have to spend all that money
This is the only pedal that I feel the original really does have something special to it. I have lole 5 or 6 clones and none sound as good
