Many people wondered why the Emperor would need guards if he was so powerful. It wasn't just meant to keep his identity as a Sith a secret, but he also used his frail and old appearance to his advantage when he made his speech, declaring the birth of the Galactic Empire. It also makes the public think that someone would be insane to attack a weak and defenseless old man.
Didn’t he have guards for years before that speech?

The royal guards are so cool and I remember fighting their variants in star wars force unleashed and reading about them on the legend wiki. Love your content Meta
I think their number would be far more than a hundred. The US Secret Service has more than that number for a single president of a single nation. But to protect the Galactic Emperor, all his palaces, ships and facilities they would need thousands.

I remember reading so much about the royal guard being the ultimate defenders of Palpatine in the Legends timeline that it is absolutely disappointing how Disney Canon has underutilized them.
Well, to be fair. They'd likely fuck them up anyway.
They never used them at all in the first place.
@@LoxyLight They actually did, however only as background pieces. (Notable example being Rogue One in Vader's castle)
But when it comes to them actually doing anything, so far Disney hasn't used them yet.

Frankly, the depiction in Rebels pretty much proves my point in Disney not portraying the guard in a way that actually shows their competence and ability. Sure they suspended Ezra in the air with their force pikes, as that weapon is made to do, however after that they just sat there and let the Stormtroopers do everything else, I guess forgetting that they as well had weapons.
The Shadow Guards should’ve been canon
What's interesting is that Lego made a set with Shadow Guards about two years ago, which is strange since they only appeared in the Force Unleashed. I'm not sure why but it gave me hope that Disney was planning to make them canon.

This was a long time ago so I’m probably wrong, but somewhere I remember reading that 1 royal guard was worth 100 storm troopers, and 1 sovereign protector was worth 5 or 10 (I don’t remember which number) royal guards.

The red guard helmets are very similar to the Neo Crusader helmets from the Old Republic era

If I remember right they also have their own custom tie interceptors that are even faster have shields a hyperdrive and even a small missile or torpedo pod and were even painted the same color as their armor and usually escorted the emperors shuttle

My gut instinct would be that their blaster pistol would be something like the DC-17 pistol, same as the clone troopers, at least during the Clone Wars era.
I suppose something like that would work, but probably sllicker, chromey or something. Cause formal occasions and all.

To be fair, PC isn't superior, rather, it's everywhere. Industries, homes and even consoles - yes - consoles!, only that what we call "pc" is better defined as "end-user repairs and upgrade rights and freedom", or EURAURF. (To fit with the video's theme of Star Wars and Empire stuff. Edit, another thing, Crucial is a good choice for say SSDs since their devices is on-par with say Samsung and others, their RAM sticks is kind of below Samsung but is cheaper, which is usually good enough for most consumers looking to upgrade their computers RAM-memory and so on.

I hate SWOTOR because it has some genuinely great ideas and content but it also butchers the KOTOR elements and adds obvious rip-offs of PT and OT designs. You wanna know how to do what they were trying to do effectively? Look at the designs in Episode III. Look at the ARC-170 as a precursor to the X-wing, the Eta-2 as a precursor to the TIE Fighter, the Venator as a precursor to the ISD, Phase II armour as a precursor to Stormtrooper Armour.
Then look at the Republic Trooper and die more deaths than Vitiate inside.
