+RusskiPuma Minivans are still popular. The Dodge Caravan was the pioneer and used to be the leader in the segment. They want to be that again with this new van. The old Pacifica was a gas hog and was not necessary because Dodge still makes the Durango and Journey.
It's neat that you can tell what trim level it will be simply by looking at the dashboard and the roof. With the 2018 and newer models, it's even easier because different models got different infotainment screen sizes and trim bits.
Voyager was the name given to the Plymouth version years ago. Yes, now there is a base model called the Chrysler Voyager. The more premium version is known as the Pacifica.
I'm shocked to see that the old Grand Caravan and Pacifica both rolled off the line at the same time. Totally different platforms and components. As far as I know, the only major component they share is the Pentastar. I would have thought that the line would have to be totally changed over to accommodate the Pacifica. Interesting!
FCA has two minivans in its fleet, and they’re both assembled at the same plant. Dodge and Chrysler both share similar or exact parts in both their minivans.
Our Pacifica is too low to the ground. In 6 months of ownership, we had to repair/replace 2 bumpers and these computerized air shutters that break off when you scrape the front bumper. Cost us over $2000.00 to fix both times. This last time the shutter thing rubbed through the air conditioning condensor-we have no air conditioning. Don't buy if you live in a hilly area! Or get a lift kit for it!
Some are college students which are suppose to only work weekends but the union made a deal with the company to let them in during the week. Most are management and union sons and daughters....go figure lol.
transmission is as reliable as other vans in its category, the chrysler ones have always been more reliable than other vans if you take care of these transmissions they will last you well past 200k
Mechanically the ZF has always been excellent. It sometimes takes time to sort out the shifting software to accommodate all the variables in engine, weight, common driving tendencies, etc., which they've now pretty much done.
Most European brands become money pits as they age. You would be surprised how much BMW's and Mercades, as well as Jags and Italian cars depreciate in the USA.@@michaels9657
the beautiful minivan starts off so humble, it is fun to watch the transformation!
Pacifica started out back in 05 (I think) as an SUV, they should have left it that way, nobody wants minivans these days
RusskiPuma Moms want minivans. it has been proven that they are more versatile than SUVs
***** Yea, true, but I would have liked it the way it was T_T

Roshan Ali with pour safety raitings all around I wouldn't say the Dodge was the leader for minivans
Awesome van. I love mine!
Glad you enjoy it we build them with pride

I'm so happy I dont work in a factory anymore. Much respect to those who spend 30 years in!
This is the first car production works that I've seen that have no uniform

They don't have to wear safety shoes if they are working with parts under 10 lbs.

Ein sehr schöner mini van 🇩🇪👍

This must be before lunch and not on a Friday or Monday. The workers are walking up right and not staggering.
Recovering New Yorker we build the best vehicle. We never stagger. Great place to work. One big family
nice! I love the cars!❤
6:14 I thought this was called the voyager?
Voyager was the name given to the Plymouth version years ago. Yes, now there is a base model called the Chrysler Voyager. The more premium version is known as the Pacifica.
I’m guessing the workers can arrive at work wearing whatever they want?
As long as it's not flip flops and underwear, yep
Yes it keeps the price of the car lower because the company does not have to buy them. Works fine for me.

The Dodge looks so much better. Same van different dash and front grill. better trim inside the Chrysler. That is it.
Those robots are so kickass
At 6:40 why is there dodge grandcaravans?
They build both the caravans and pacificas in that plant

@@aidandonaldson7 wrong
@@autobotavengerfireballxl5339 none of the parts were the same. Maybe some fasteners here and there. But everything was different.
@@JusOut4aRip greetings traveler! go to bed dude see you in a week
The Pacifica makes the GC look like a tipped-over fridge. Glad they still can sell both.
Let's see if windsor can st a h open selling just one
They don’t sell both now
WRONG that Chrysler front is just plain GROSS.

Brian Ost They're actually built quite well... maybe learn how to drive...
We're getting rid of it. You want to buy it?
Brian Ost Naw see those vans waaaay to much
Brian Ost Buy an explorer, probenecid solved. Love mine, it only scrapes if the front end dips into like a massive dip.
Brian Ost And the only thing that scrapes is this plastic/rubber protective think under the bumper that isn't even worn out after 2 yrs of ownership.
I love my Pacifica. I watched this vide to see who didn’t tighten my sway bar bolt.
Question: The people putting the van together, are they college students? Normally, you see 40+ year old people assembling it together.
Some are college students which are suppose to only work weekends but the union made a deal with the company to let them in during the week. Most are management and union sons and daughters....go figure lol.
berniedmj m They also hire in temporarys for the summer sometimes
Do any of you Jokers actually work here if not stop pretending you know how it goes inside our plant
@@berniedmj1 you wanna know why there's young people in there? Do some research before assuming things
I wonder if there will be a dodge Pacifica with of course a different name cuz well the caravan and town and country are the same car
Nope the caravan was cancelled this year
@@finncampeau4922 Chrysler grand caravan will be coming off the line in a few weeks
@Sea Life voyager in USA, caravan in Canada.
Good job
I like the front of the Dodge so much better.
Always wondered what happens to all of the new vehicles that car manufacturers don't sell. Probably scrap them.
Sell them to rental companies, or ship them to Mexico.
