20 Minute Wood Spirit Dremel Project With Only One Burr

- Hey guys, here's a quick tutorial on how I carved this wood spirit out of Basswood. This is a pretty easy Dremel wood carving and I think would be fitting for an intermediate carver. It took no more than a day to make and was a lot of fun. I also like that you only need one tool, AND only one burr, so anyone should be able to make one since you don't have to invest a lot of money into equipment. If you're looking for more wood carving designs and videos, I recommend watching the video where I carve a greek paddle with a Dremel 4300. I use Walnut, Poplar, and Epoxy! The epoxy was a hassle but came out really cool. - Навчання та стиль
Really appreciate this tutorial! I'm just starting out woodcarving and this helps a lot! Most of the stuff I've done has been sculpting with clay and such which is adding clay until you get the shape you want, so moving to this where you take away material to get that shape messes with my brain haha
Thank you! It is a funny learning curve, I’m glad the video helped!
I’ve been learning to use a Dremel by making spoons and was ready to be more “artistic” and try faces but was intimidated by the details. I happened upon this video and I’m off to the races! Your explanation took the mystery away! FYI, I’m 75 years young and haven’t done any wood working since high school! Thanks! Tim
Great to hear, Tim! I love carving faces, especially when you make up the plan as you go. It's also nice to practice on really soft woods like the one in this video until you're happy with the style.
Love your videos
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video Logan! Keep up the work.
Thank you Jim!
Great video!

It is! Especially with the Kutzall and basswood

Thank you!
That is really neat. Have you done any Totem Poles ?
Thank you! I haven’t yet, but that would be a fun idea
Interesting, thank you! But you don't have a dust collector?
Thanks! I like to carve outside, so I don’t find myself needing one.
Dremel 7760 lite would also handle it?
I bet you could, but you would need to carve slower. The dremel in this video has more power. I also used basswood which is very soft so it would be good for the 7760
How long did this take to carve (real time)? Would love to see your setup. New subscriber and beginner carver.
It took no more than 30min with sanding, probably more like 20 to carve. Super easy to power carve basswood quickly
Very fuzzy wood
Indubitably
