- Phase 2 Update:
Totem Poles, Rosita and Toucan added.
DIY Disney Enchanted Tiki Room Project:
System Controls using a Raspberry Pi with programs written in C, Java and Python
McCaw Birds are Squawkers McCaw toys by Hasbro hacked using Squawker Talker control boards designed by J-Man
Drummers are made from home insulation panels, arms run by servo motors
Totem Poles are also constructed from home insulation panels, mouths use servo controls and a home designed board to move the mouth with the music
Toucan is a Cracker Barrel toy (working on electronics to move based on audio input)
Lighting is accomplished using jewelry case lighting and remote controlled pucks. I've modified a remote and connected it to the pi to control lighting and create lightening effect.
Flowers are good old fake flowers from Hobby Lobby (movement coming soon)
Coming Soon:
Phase 3 to include Volcano Windows
Future Phases to include Toucan Motion, Enchanted Fountain (rising water fountain or not?), and Flowers that croon (3D printed)
Hit me up with some additional ideas if some come to mind!

Amazing work! Hope to see any update with the other items you are adding. Any chance you could let me know what you used to control the birds? I assume a separate controller, lots out there and lots of software people created. I have two of the birds and pulled the wires but still deciding which controller to get and if I want to just do the on off method to make the movements then control the beak for works separately. Even more amazing if you could share a wiring tutorial but I know thats a larger ask. Thanks for the work!
I used Squawker Talkers from J-Man (google it). They have worked out well for me. Wiring tutorial would be horrendous, I'm actually working to reduce wiring by moving to I2C controls. Maybe I'll post a behind the scenes in the future.
How did you change the colors for the fur?
