Tip for more views to your channel: VS videos ie differences between Spain vs America will get tons of views. Also, truly off the beat even abandoned sites. You have more of a traditional travel mentality which is fine but if you want your channel to grow you might want to do some things you aren't used to. There's some shady travlers out there like baldr and bald and bankrupt that stage fake fights in US to show how dangerous it is and to get some cheap, fast views. I want you, a legitimate UA-camr to surpass them but currently both are far surpassing you. Another thing is expensive vs cheap food that works really well. Anyways do what makes you happy in the end I suppose! I love your stuff, I dont feel its fake and it feels like you're speaking from experience rather than things you read online that other people have said. Thanks! BTW: fight seen on Harald Baldr channel "I was attacked by Coppercab!"

T Lo tome, it’s more stressful to lug around multiple bags than do a wash in the middle of a trip. We don’t stay in hotels, and I make sure every bnb we stay in has laundry facilities. Before we leave for the day, I toss in a wash. Job done. Traveling with only a carry on bag affords you a level of freedom I wouldn’t be without.

I’ve actually tried rule of 3 for the past 6 holidays. I enjoy going to laundromats, a way to meet people. 2 shoes: one to wear on plane and a good pair. Mix and match everything and layering. All purpose jacket (on plane). Minimal, small makeup, liquids etc. Deliberately bought an under-seat bag to keep it minimal. Very practical tips for the sceptics. Thx.

Even though we pack differently I always appreciate that you give actual practical advice instead of social media inspired "hacks."
*_old clothes_* - Packing clothes you're about to throw away is the most eye-rolling hack people pretend to do. Do you really travel wearing clothes that are old and frayed or have holes and stains or were disfigured in the wash? Oh, it's just underwear and t-shirts. Really? Sure.
*_hidden money_* - Do you hide a $100 bill in an old lip balm tube, Mark? 😀
*_binder clip_* - Aren't you supposed to use a clip to cover your razor? You can use the same clip to ensure the curtains close properly. 😂
You know I love your "tips" videos. 👍👍

Good to see some sensible packing. It took my wife a couple of trips before she realized she was lugging a ton of stuff she didn't need with her. And if she did need it, she could just get it there. Now we travel just with carryons whether it's 5 day or two weeks.

Probably too late for you, but here's my advice:
Pack a thick hat, warm pair of gloves, a thick scarf and at least one pair of comfy and warm trousers. It's gonna be cold, especially in january and february. Lots of undies and shirts.
Also, add hand cream, your skin will need it.
And of course, the usual stuff: medicine with prescribtions, toiletries, phone with USB cable and adapter for European plugs etc.

In case you forget a power adapter:
    1) Ask the reception if you can borrow one from a "lost" pile.
    2) Most flat screens TVs have at least one USB port (turn your phone off, turn the TV on - and charge).
    3) Look for a supermarkets or a electronics chain - they will be much more cheaper than a "on-the-go" giftshops.

I used to be I will carry everything I’d need for a 2-3+ week vacation on me, so I have something new for not only everyday, but maybe I’ll utilize 2 in a day which of course made not only the process of packing longer, but the weight/bulk unnecessary. Now there is no need to wait for a piece of luggage. Everything moves by much faster & comfortably.👏

This is a big help. One suggestion I have is look at Oneil Hybrid shorts. They are nice enough to golf or dinner in them yet are quick drying and great for swimming in pool or ocean. Spent a week in Maui in my 2 pairs. Literally from ocean to shopping. Also when packing avoid cotton. Yes its comfy but it takes forever to dry and will hold a funk. Wool or Alpaca is great. And no wool is not warmer. I wear woool socks and boxers dead of summer 90F days backpacking.

One thing I like to pack is both an extension cord with three outlets, and a three outlet plug. And I packed that in my day pack to increase by possibility of charging my phone at a coffee shop with a remote outlet. Or for a hotel like yours if the outlet isn't close to the bed I can get the power source close to the bed with the extension cord. I've run into that issue both in Ireland and an old hotel in San Francisco we're fortunately I had the extension cord at both situations. I also use a CPAP machine which makes my packing a little more than I would like and makes convenient power access critical.
Thanks agree with everything you say here. I didn't see a phone charger unless you keep that in your pocket.

I would add a sewing kit and a small first aid kit for cuts and blisters.
A multitool can be helpful too. I don't mean like a fullsize leatherman necessarily, but I have a miniature version (though probably only bring one if you have a checked bag if it has a blade). It might not come in handy every time, but when it does you'll be glad to have it. I also keep a plastic camping spork with me so I can eat snacks in my hotel room.
There are more things like superglue, zip ties, electrical tape that can come in handy sometimes. I've had the connecting end of a USB cable break before and I've fixed it with electrical tape....was glad I didn't have to go out hunting for a new one late at night.
I'm very much a budget traveller if you can't tell. I also go to events with stuff that might need fixing on the spot with no time to go searching for supplies around the city.

Here are some more items which shouldn't overload your backpack or carryon: 16L superlight day pack for your day walking example 4Monster; 10-12 foot extension cord with 2-3 plugs; 10oz hot/cold water bottle that fits the bottle sleeves on your backpack; super small razor w/usb charging, (mine is 2 ½" tall, 1 ½" diameter); mini umbrella. Also, you only need 3-4 sets of underwear - get Ex-Officio, they dry in a couple of hours are super wicking and don't retain smells.

I went on a 16-day cruise with three days in Barcelona before boarding. I used the suggestion of rule of five with my packing. I might’ve had seven of a couple things, but the concept worked well for me. While the ship did offer laundry service for guests, I had laundry bag that I bought off Amazon, and I did my own washing with no extra charge. I found creative ways to hang clothes around my tiny cabin to dry, and I was glad I took duct tape lol. Someone had left a broken clothes hanger in the closet. I used my tape and splinted the hanger with a wooden coffee stir stick. It was almost as good as new.

Excellent. Carry on vs. check. I always pack a spare pair of underwear and sox in carry on just in case I check the small carry on luggage and it gets lost, I have a spare pair. Wear all the heavy stuff. Planes are colder to keep folks from getting nauseous. Also shoes. I wear the walking shoes and try to pack a pair of light weight shoes for dressier occasions. Shoes take up room and you have to be careful with these. Like the fact you roll your cloths, too. The idea of taking a big bag and checking it is passe. You don't realize how much you will have to handle your own bags and they do get heavy.

Very good advice, although the Italy 🇮🇹 moment unfortunately wasn’t perfect timing, but as you said this was recorded last year. I understand people are concerned about the coronavirus, but not many people are aware that a holiday you booked for India 🇮🇳 can suddenly change when the government decides that your visa is cancelled and you may be quarantined because of the coronavirus. Israel 🇮🇱 also introduced a recent law that anyone who comes has to go to a 14 day quarantined place. Imagine that if you booked for Israel, this law would affect your plans. Also don’t forget the potential disruption of airlines cancelling your flights or they go to bust. So make sure you have travel insurance that could possibly cover these items.

Great tips! We also wear travel vests with interior zippered pockets. That’s where our valuables, documents and some electronics accessories go. Those free up a lot of space and we don’t have to play the airlines carry on game. Those also work great walking around in Europe. A very effective pickpocket deterrent. I use a PacSafe bag for storing my cameras, extra batteries, filters, etc.. along with our medkit.

Mark, were booked to travel to Spain for ten days leaving this week. I am 44, wife is 42. Sons are 13 and 15. Were all healthy with no pre-existing conditions. We’re spending 2 days in Madrid where the most Coronavirus cases in Spain are. My question for you is, would
You cancel if you were me?

@@dee74raz Guess the airlines haven't heard because there are still flights coming in. Check the flight trackers. Flights aren't banned, European travelers are.

No extra shoes? I'm a runner so packing running shoes and running clothes is also necessary. But otherwise similar to what I pack.

Do you have any thoughts of travelling to Europe (or.. anywhere, really) now, given the current situation with the coronavirus?

Mark… I keep hearing in other videos that Americans shouldn’t wear shorts - they’re a dead giveaway indicating American tourists. I’m going to be in France in July and I really don’t want to wear long pants! What’s your opinion???

Jerry H I bring one pair of shoes, on my feet, plus a pair of flip flops if our rental house has a pool. One pair of walking shoes does the trick, and can be dressed up if you’re going out to a nice restaurant,
