  • 3 Most Rare & Lost Cars From 1980s!
Three forgotten gems of the automotive world in this captivating video! We'll take you on a journey through the unique stories of the Ford LTD LX, TVR Tasmin, and Triumph Acclaim.
First, let's explore the 1984-1985 Ford LTD LX, a car that combined the power of an American muscle car with the practicality of a family sedan. Built on the same Fox platform as the Mustang, the LTD LX featured a potent 5.0-liter V8 engine and a sporty design that set it apart from other sedans of its time.
Next, we'll dive into the fascinating history of the TVR Tasmin, a rare British sports car from the early 1980s. With its futuristic wedge-shaped design and lightweight fiberglass body, the Tasmin was a true trailblazer. Powered by a reliable Ford Cologne V6 engine, this car offered impressive performance and handling for its era.
Finally, we'll uncover the story of the Triumph Acclaim, a collaboration between British Leyland and Honda. Produced from 1981 to 1984, the Acclaim was the last car to bear the Triumph name and the first significant product of this British-Japanese partnership. Based on the Honda Ballade, the Acclaim was designed to be a practical, reliable, and fuel-efficient family car.

The triumph acclaim is pure and simple a Honda.

The rover 3.5litre engine in the TVR TASMIN is actually a BUICK 215 motor that rover bought the tooling from Buick and is a highly successful engine and extremely reliable with huge potential for tuning.

The Tasmin was NOT also known as the 2 80 1 it was 280i, the 'i' being for 'injection', it was fuel injected

Why would you put an Acclaim on a list like this? We got these in the US as the way more reliable, yet utterly forgettable, and absolutely junkable ancient Honda Civic. There's nothing special about a gutless, ubiquitous, boring badge engineered second gen civic.

Ford 5 litre engine 165bhp joke my 1973 rover p63500 s had 178 bhp would destroy the ford. The tasmin isn't forgotten especially with the rover V8 4.2 litre engine

The TVR is way overpriced, unreliable, and underwhelming for what you'll pay. Especially in a world where the MB clk500, c5 corvettes, and supercharged 3800/ northstar swaped Fieros exist.

Hate to be a buzzkill, but apropos the LTD, 165hp from a 5 litre(liter) V8 is a very long way from "impressive", even "back then". Just. Don't. Excuse. Failed. Mediocrity. Ever.

It's not even a version of the 5.0 that you want to tune, especially since the AOD transmission can't handle power for long. If you engine and transmission swap this thing, your problem is you're still driving an old Ford LTD, which would suck, especially today. Of all the cars to engine swap, an LTD isn't the option I'd ever choose. There are much better options.
