The word leech probably goes with barber because leeches were one of the most common way for bloodletting back when it was a medical practice. It was barbers that did the procedure, it's why barbershops have that white and red cylinder outside their doors, it was how they "advertised" that they did bloodletting.
Not only that but they also were dentists, and the red and white pole. Was because the barber wrapped the bloody rags on a pole to dry, and that’s why it was red and white.
Largest parrots grow to be the oldest! I used to work at a pet shop, and I had this client who was in his mid-fifties who had inherited a 50-year-old African Grey Parrot from his recently deceased father. The parrot was under so much anxiety because of the changes going on that he was pulling his feathers off. He did get better and was very loved! As long as I know he is still alive, and it's been around 10 years since then!
Loulou looks like a budgie. But I’m pretty sure they only live to be about 20, so…. *confusion* Also, my home town has a local “celebrity” of sorts. This old man who rides his bike everywhere with a large perch attached to the back and a red macaw with him. They’ve been around since I was little. You can usually find them at the farmers market, but sometimes you’ll see them just riding around downtown. It puts a smile on my face every time I see them.
@@thatcottagecorewitch5910 Loulou is definitely much larger than a budgie. Look at her eating a cake, and then look at how large the cakes are as Nancy puts them into the microwave.
Poor Jane, no wonder she’s “strange” when she lives in a creepy castle, doesn’t see another child for months on end, and has daily tuition starting at six o’clock in the morning. (The creepy rituals are just the icing on the cake!)
This episode reminds me of the time my glowstick died while I was deep down in the gargoyle secret passage. It was pitch black, I couldn't find my way out, and I had to just quit. 😑 I hadn't saved in like 90 minutes and there was no second chance save, so I had to redo so much stuff. 😭 Moral of the story: always rush to get a new glowstick when Nancy says you need one
i lost it during stream when chat was convinced there was a third ghost in the conservatory, gabs spent like forever trying to find it and it turns out it just was a flower lmao
I've been repeatedly watching your playthroughs of ND recently - my mom introduced them to me and she died in June. We bonded over how crazy and hilarious LouLou is ❤❤ we would hunt for the physical copies together and actually get so excited to load it up right when we got home. Thank you for these playthroughs. I feel like I'm giggling with my mom again ❤
The fact that they all of there own coat of arms is pretty accurate. A coat of arm represent only one person, but usually the next generation would choose a really similar motive, with just smaller alterations. Often with some elements the family had for generations. btw thanks for the lets play
Those moving rooms are such a giant headache, haha. You figured that out way faster than my siblings did (and honestly I never properly figured it out.. I just followed a guide when I got to that part). I really appreciate how methodical you are when you're working on puzzles. :)
Omg when this game first came out my friend and I were running back and forth doing the word game in the secret passageway, and when the tutor popped up outside the door and jump scared us, we screamed *so loud* that my mom got mad at us for being too noisy 😂
Discovering the forge is, in my opinion, one of the greatest Nancy Drew game moments. After all of the tricky puzzles with both secret passages, the parrot word game, the runes, both sides of the triangle puzzle, the moving rooms, AND the alchemy puzzle, you’re rewarded with not only SO much lore, but also SO much guidance to help you solve the remaining puzzles. So damn triumphant, and I’m happy to see you making it this far. ^-^ If you were a Penvellyn adding another puzzle to this legacy, what would you do? Lol
I would probably want to do something similar to the 13 ghosts ❤️ maybe like hidden marks or items that have a riddle to solve that pertains to another part of the key 😊
@@Ekundert1300 There's a call-back to this game in a later one that suggests Jane, perhaps knowing the parrot is getting nearer to the end of her life, will be putting a virtual version of Loulou and her word game on the internet.

I am so glad you are playing Nancy Drew games! These were my childhood and it is great to see them again. I still have all of them :D Love your videos!
20:48 there is kind of a pattern, barber leech (they did bloodletting and leeches helped with that kind of stuff), picture book, baby bonnet, hourglass, it all goes together.
As a parrot owner, and friends of parrot owners, I can confirm they can get quite old. My best friend's Amazon was born in 1981, and macaw was born in the late 80s, and they are still around. The larger the bird, the longer they tend to live. Macaws are the type that can to live up to the 80 year mark. Smaller birds like Budgies and lovebirds tend to live 10-15, cockatiels and that size are 15-25 - these ages are for those in captivity (if well taken care of); Sadly, as with most animals, they don't live nearly as long in the wild. Basically, you put a parrot in your will for someone else to inherit. Lol!
The word leech probably goes with barber because leeches were one of the most common way for bloodletting back when it was a medical practice. It was barbers that did the procedure, it's why barbershops have that white and red cylinder outside their doors, it was how they "advertised" that they did bloodletting.

I would hate to have to continue a tradition like this! Boy am I glad to be the second child!
not sure if it was answered by chat during the stream, but barbers used to also be surgeons back in the day. the white and red stripes supposedly came from the bloody cloths they left out to dry. anyway, the reason that 'barber' was associated to 'leech' might be because bloodletting was common practice around the same time, and leeches where the main way to accomplish that.
I am so glad John Wolfe led me to you Gab. You are so wholesome, positive, comforting, and relaxing :)
I am so glad you are playing Nancy Drew games! These were my childhood and it is great to see them again. I still have all of them :D Love your videos!
Time for nosy Nancy! Yes!
20:48 there is kind of a pattern, barber leech (they did bloodletting and leeches helped with that kind of stuff), picture book, baby bonnet, hourglass, it all goes together.
I love love LOVE these playthroughs!!!!!!
Lol!
That is such a cute shirt! And the lighting in the new setup is very flattering on you
