It doesn’t get any better than this… killer pedal steel. I remember growing up hearing these guys when I was in High School. Amazingly addictive still as it was 50 years ago. Nice 👍
Lloyd has so much humility. I love his beautiful playing. Jay Dee is also a great player whom I enjoy listening to. The Tele player sounded like he was playing a pull string. Other than drums, all instruments were strings, difficult to all get in tune together. No need for a violin, as Jay Dee could make his instrument sound like a violin if needed. No need for tinkling piano keys tonight. For those of us who love pedal steel guitar and can not get enough of it, this was a treat to listen to. Two masters of the E9th.
I love Lloyd Green playing. Went to see him to Newbury, UK, circa 1993. Took some pictures with him and his wife. I got the impression that he is a good person.
A third steel player is on stage, but's on lead guitar: Al Perkins. Beautiful to hear these songs (now as instrumentals) that Lloyd & JayDee originally played on with The Byrds, on the album "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" from 1968. 50 years ago!
Uhm... didn’t notice it was Al Perkins. I was going to say that I just hate a lead-guitar imitating a pedal steel, with two real pedal steels on stage... anyway, sorry
Again...sound great for Lloyd and Jay Dee Maness; video crap. Not to mention the lead guitar; had low sound; way under L and J's sound level. Will they ever get it right! Dadgum it?
Seen this pair many times but not together. This is a historical experience. They have graced so much music in the studio. Love the video.
Great classic combination!

Hard to believe it's been 50 years, and it's impossible to comprehend how these guys can still be at the top of their game . Absolutely fantastic!

I was never sure who played on what song but one thing for sure is that the steel guitar playing on the Sweetheart of the Rodeo album was legendary.
