    Thanks, these guitars and the 311 series get very positive reviews, they really are greatly versatile and beautiful looking too. Over the years many guitarists have over looked the quality of Yamaha. These are like getting 3 guitars for the price of one.

      Ray Ross Totally agree, the build quality is fantastic and the playability is awesome. I really enjoyed this guitar

      Linus it's a vintage style trem. It's pretty good for a vintage trem but won't stay in tune after heavy dive bombs, no vintage trem will. Great guitar but not meant to do Steve Vai type stuff. Still, not sure the bridge on the Indonesian Jem will stay in tune any better. Cheap locking bridges don't cut it.

    I finally got one of these and they are an amazing bang for the buck and there’s really no sound you can’t dial into one of these. Super versatile!

    I am a luthier ,I was just wondering if any body came across this problem with a 611vfm . It might be a fault in the drilling or I picked up a lemon . I bought it brand new . Washing you & yours a marry Christmas. Looking forward for some more of your great reviews.

    Thanks for making the video. I am looking into buy one now in Canada where I live. I was trying to decide between the PAC510V and PAC611VFM. It is hard choice because they are both quality guitars, sound great, and have a lot of similar features.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  7 років тому

      I hope I helped. I have never played the 510V. It's only one pickup but the P-Rails would definitely be interesting to try out. It's a good idea to try both before you buy if you can.

      I am in the same situation as you, and while I leaned towards the 611 at first, I just bought a second hand 510V (unplayed but it was almost half the price of a new one...) which I'll receive in a couple of days. Let me know if you want an update once I've got it.

    • @WombatPage

      Sounds like a great deal. Let us know how it goes.

      Ok, so a little update as promised:
      Ups:
      The Pacifica 510V really is a joy to play, the people who said so definitely weren't lying. The back of the neck is perfect for my taste - very smooth and fast, and the rosewood fretboard is very decent. On this particular guitar, I think the fretboard could use some oil so I'll buy that and apply it next time I clean it.
      The Seymour Duncan pickup is not bad either - it has really high output and is unusually responsive (compared to other guitars I've played) to volume and tone control adjustments, which makes it possible to set the dirt level mostly with the volume control. That makes it possible to cover everything from clean strumming, mildly overdriven blues or Keith Richards type chord work through AC/DC and punk, all the way up to standard 80s and 90s metal, although perhaps it wouldn't be ideal for the most extreme forms of metal.
      Also happy to report the guitar seems to emit less noise than my Squier Affinity Tele and my Les Paul Studio which I suppose could mean the electronics are good.
      There was virtually no fretwear on the guitar, and the finish was great - only one small ding on the back of the guitar, nothing on the front.
      Downs:
      - I need to order a new trem arm as that wasn't included, and I'm not sure if it's a 5.5mm arm or a 6mm arm.
      - The metal parts have lost their shine. There is no rust, it's just very matte. Could be a function of not living inside a case, I don't know. But that doesn't affect playability.
      Overall, given the low price, it was a great deal for me.

      That's awesome Mea, sounds like you have scored quite a bargain. Well done. Now you have to play the wheels off it.

    Thank's for sharing. I own one of this guitar for a while. It's a great one. You just have to quick change strings and then setup the tromolo because it's not. Go for 10-46 strings (at least) or the tremolo's setup will be nearly impossible. The pickups and the hardware are great. The P90 is a real winner there. (I love P90). The electronic parts are quite standard and not top of the notch. The pot are not so good on mine. Anyway this guitar is a great one.

      Yeah I agree. In fact, I filmed this video over a year ago and was so impressed with it I just recently purchased one.

    Always loved my 200 pound pacifica 112. Bought a fender strat and am thinking of chopping it in for a high end pacifica.. Is it a good work horse??

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  3 роки тому

      It is exactly that, a great workhorse guitar. I bought this one after doing the review and use it as one of my workhorses.

    Hi wombat , love your reviews. I have a question,hope you can help me. I just bought a Yamaha 611vfm , it is a great guitar but , unfortunately the hamburger does not suit my style of music . I play ballads & Latin American music . Can you suggest another humbugs that will do the job for my style of music ?? Your view will be much appreciated.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  5 років тому

      What exactly are you looking for in a pickup? Is the custom 5 too hot? Or not hot enough?

    • @satishdass7460

      For latin American music I would put a few drops of salsa on your guitar then samba samba samba

    Hi wombat. Just to let you know that I have fixed the bridge/tremolo problem i had . Moved thd bridgr back 2mil . However, i do think yamaha should have a good look at there measurement about this problem. There is another tester on utube ,who is having
    Trouble with the bridge .

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  5 років тому

      That's weird, I have one and one of my students has one both with no problems. Comes down to quality control I guess. Glad you fixed it.

    Hi wombat , I’m after a bit of mellowness more midrange. I had a Cort g260dx it has a beautiful humbugger , it is a VT59 (voice tone 59 ) I don’t know if it’s one of cort’s own pickup or not . Maybe l’m after a bit more crunch . I don’t use any distortion when I’m playing ,just a bit of reverb . Thank you again for your patience.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  5 років тому

      You could try a 59/Custom Hybrid or a Custom Custom both from Seymour Duncan. Or a Liquifire or Air Zone or even a Tone Zone all from DiMarzio. You could also go for something like the Emerald from Bare Knuckle Pickups. It's a bit hard to advise you because pickups are such a personal thing. All of the pickups I have mentioned will give you a boost in the mid range. Hope this helps.

    What is the new price of this guitar and what would a used one be worth now? I’m looking to buy one.

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  6 років тому

      The new price is in the video and hasn't changed. Used they run anywhere from around $550 to $600 Australian dollars.

    Why doesn't anyone ever use the vibrato on a guitar with a vibrato? VFM isn't cryptic it's actually obvious , Vibrato Flame Maple (VFM).

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  6 років тому

      I personally am not a vibrato fan and to be fair, I did do a version of this with some vibrato use. Nick the editor guy went with this version. The trem on this model is one of the more stable vintage trems I have played in a while.

    gran video , excelente sonido Wombat Page ahora tengo una duda si ir por esta pacifica 611 o la revstar sr620 ya que son grandes guitarras solo quisiera saber como es la comodidad del brazo ala hora de jugar con el que recomendaciones harías al respecto muchas gracias por el video

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  6 років тому

      You cant go wrong with either guitar, it comes down to what you think looks better. I actually ended up buying this very 611. The differences are the pickups. The Revstar has Yamaha pickups and the Pacifica 611 has Seymour Duncan pickups. The 611 also has a belly cut and forearm cut which the RS620 doesn't. Hope that helps.

    Hi wombat. Sorry to trouble you again.as you know . I have a 611vfm . I didn’t change the hamburger, I just changed the magnet too elnico 2 . The problem I have with it is an unusual one. I found out , that the bridge is too far forward. First the block was jamming on the sides of the timber , fixture it with a dremol drill ,to tune it no problem BUT to tune the harmonicas on it ,there’s not enough room for the screws to move the saddles back enough to allow you to tune the harmonics notes. The bridge have to move about 1or 2 mill back . I would like to know ,if anyone had a problem like this on the 611vfm ? I was a guitar repairer so I Can do the job myself, but if I would have to give it to someone,it would cost a lot of dollars to fix . I’ll be interested to hear from anyone. Thanks again. Sorry for the trouble .

      Wow, that doesn't sound good. I have the 611 in the video that I reviewed, I went and bought it after the review, and I have not experienced that at all. I don't know if any of the viewers can help you. All I can suggest is take it to a luthier. That is what I would do.

    This Guitar vrs Tribute leagcy G&L???? Confusing

    • @WombatPage
      @WombatPage  6 років тому +1

      I know what you mean. The Yamaha is better appointed but I have a real soft spot for G&L being that it was the last incarnation of the Strat that Leo Fender worked on. He tried to fix some of the issues with the original designs he did at Fender.

    • @duata_cck

    why a complete amateur on the guitar feels he has the right, knowledge , skill, observational skills, to review and or critique a guitar-- is anyones guess
    it would be akin to a complete amateur downhill skier reviewing rossignol vs another brand--- completely idiotic

    • @DavidHands

      Says the arm chair critic who is yet to make any guitar videos of his own.

    • @bogfish9664
      @bogfish9664 4 роки тому

      Absolutely correct! MY guess is that even if he put half the time and effort that he puts into these awful videos into practice, he'd STILL be shite at the guitar. FUCKING POSER.
