the "ultimate k8" just sounds like my k8 but with diff switches 💀
Just got my K8 keyboard today and I'm super happy with it. But I'm really tempted to try this mod to make it even better. Thanks for the guide!
How is ur keyboard after 2 weeke? Looking to buy one
@@listeqq6120 I am still super super happy with the keyboard. Using it all dayd for work and for gaming in the evenings when I have time. Battery lasts for so long, rarely have to charge it.
I had a fanatic mini streak before, with red switches. And I gotta say, I would never go back from the keychron.
Go ahead mate. You won't regret it.
@@listeqq6120I have the pro version. Love it
that white page down key can drive me crazy lmao
Will those pudding keycaps fit on Keychron k8 pro?
its get interesting but in the end there is no complete instruction on this video LOL im newbie
I used this, added some band-aid mod and tape mod, and I can surely say I have the ultimate k8
Hey great video! I just bought the k8 and plan on doing most of these things to mine, the sound difference is pretty amazing. I was just wondering if you could explain what exactly you did to the plate around 8:20-9:20. I hope mine turns out as well as yours I also ordered u4t Bobas to try on it!
I added 1/4 foam in between the plate and pcb, that way it can help reduce some rattling from the board. U4t bobas are amazing I love them im sure it will sound amazing on ur K8
@SirSpike I’ve been using u4ts for like 3 months now and they feel amazing, the stock sound on these is really good, you can’t even hear the usual stock switch spring ping because I think they have factory-oiled springs.
The stock smoothness on these is good, you cant notice scratch because they’re “fuzzy” but in a good way.
The bottom out is faster because of their elongated stem pole and it honestly feels so good to me because that hard bottom out after the strong tactility of this switch mixes perfectly and thats why its my second favorite tactile switch. (Neapolitan ice cream switches are still #1)
The only thing im not a fan of on this switch is how it takes the usual lubing technique with 205g0 but apparently there is another lubing technique made by the creator of the switch (gazzew) to lube the u4ts without reducing tactility.
amazing upgrade
I'm trying to change the stabs on my K8, are screw ins not compatible? I see there's no holes in the pcb
Nice keycaps, like
mind to share what music on the background?
Why fast forward all the way through? No idea what you just did and why.
like your wrist rest. Do you have link to it?
hey the k8c1 keycron is switch hot swap?
Bought one. Matcha greens going in and im gonna make some pcb and case foam too. Stabs are gonna be the same cherry ones, but ill just end up clipping and holee modding them i guess. Also you ahould try burger mounting it. I have a couple o rings on hand so ill try
How did you take out the pbc board? I had the same problem as you after I've taken off the top casing I find a way to tap out the pbc board.
Unscrew the sides of the keyboard then you can slide them off which lets you remove the pcb
Amazing video! Was thinking about doing some of these mods, actually! I’ll definitely follow along to your video when/if I do these mods. When you put the foam in the case, did you leave any space around the battery for fear of any overheating issues? Or is this not a problem with this battery? Great work!
You should leave some space around the battery just in case the battery expands for any reason. Also you shouldn’t put the foam higher than the battery.
@@RizzyWow in this video he put foam higher than battery tho
@@RizzyWow a foam isn't exactly concrete though, so it should be fine
I don't get it. Every video I watch about K8 makes it sound cheap.
But I own one, and it feels like totally different keyboard.
When I insert the bottom plate after adding foam I broke the switch between BT / Off / Cable modes. Any ideas how to fix it?😢
same but i did it with the mac/windows one. Did you fix it?
What are those keycaps please?
I'm wondering if you had this problem and how you fixed it. I got the kechron k8 a couple days ago and I noticed that it makes a metallic dinging sound and it is especially noticeable around the spacebar. It drives me nuts and I need to know how to stop it. I tried adding foam to the bottom to see if that would help and I did the tape mod but nothing seems to fix it. I assume I need to lube it and I plan on getting the lube, but if there is another easier better way it would make my life easier. So did you notice this problem and if so how did you fix it? Please and thank you.
Try adding foam to the space bar key
'SIMPLE'
I have the keyboard and somehow mine sound much better lol
Just get k8 pro sound even better then this mod and save your time
thats a waste of lube time on browns..
Only 28 subs wth
Simple? Quite the opposite :/ It'd be easier and cheaper to buy a mid-high-end board
Would it really? I'm not even half way thru the vid but description says he added foam, lubed switches and modified the stabilisers. Those aren't expensive at all? A mid high end board would be a whole lot more, easier but probably would still need similar modifications
moding k8 to a mid tier board, imagine moding a mid - high board will make it into a high tier board
the stabs are prelubed and therefor u dont need to lube them futher, u can use the foam theres in the package already, u dont need a special tool to clips the stabs, and dont exactly lube tactile switches to begin with and u dont have to swap out the keycaps. there u go, buddy
