I think I'm one of the lucky ones my NC is completely rust free. Although I have done some prevention work my plan is to underseal her. She now lives in France and sits in a very dry dirt free garage and will rarely be out in the rain as we don't get much of that here. I had my car fully examined before I bought her yes it cost me a few hundred quid but it was worth the money. All cars are a problem in the UK it's a fact of life. To buy an NC in France you will pay a lot more because many are rust free.
These guys see 5s day in day out. From watching the vid they say this is the worst they have seen by some distance. Be interesting to see a 'typical' NC at say 10 years. The guys imply that this is an exceptionally bad one.
Only a matter of time, people saying NCs don't rust as much as NBs are basically just saying cars that are 15 years old don't rust as badly as cars that are 20+ years old. Only need to wait 5 years to prove that notion wrong.
If this ends up in thd scrap heap please can you mention any chance of getting used parts from this NC. Assumption is engine bay is in far better condition 🤔
A very bad example of an NC but don’t let this put you off them. I daily drive my NC and find it worlds better than my older NB. It’s already been under sealed and protected by yourself so should have years of happy ownership.
I had a 2007 Z Sport in 2013. It was 6 years old. It was so crusty underneath I thought if I'm going to have to deal with this level of corrosion, I might as well buy a Mk1 as I had before, which is just what I did. Never looked back. Not only is the NC (stands for 'not completed') a complete pile of lardy crap, they rust worse than any MX5 before! avoid like the plague. Easily the worst MX5 they made. Mine wasn't even painted underneath most of it. Total rubbish.
Makes me laugh, I'll go on UA-cam to watch how someone changes something like the fuel filter on a Mk1/Mk2 and most clips seem to be shot in the US. They guys crawl under their cars and there's just no rust, smooth black/grey metal with no under seal and certainly no rust - bastards!
i suddenly feel better about my Mark 2!
RIP that NC.
Is that your rescued Le Mans edition in the background? It looks pretty good, maybe it deserves a video?
Be nice to know what year the NC was and what mileage it had done - kinda essential information for a video like this? Please tell
I can’t remember that for that car, but to be honest, we are seeing issues on many NC models, the earlier cars are generally worse due to age though

It is a bad one, but we are seeing increasing rust problems with the Mk3, what really shocked us with this one was how bad the rear subframe was.
That's a $10,000 MX5 here in northern Canada! lol
Nice MX 5 NC from Japan all Years with many Streat salt in Great Britania look this Video..it,s the End of a car !
I'd wager that car was in a flood, possibly salt water or brackish. I didn't realize Roy was so good at cavity searches. He could work at an airport!
Roy does like to get his fingers and fists into things!!
Someone took the whole boat thing a bit too literally with this NC :).
Saved this video under "replies to people who say NCs don't rust like NBs"

The car is no longer at our workshop, sorry.
I used handle flood damages and this definitely looks like a car that sat in mud and water for some time.
maybe it has, the owner didn't have any history to say it had
Jesus...I hope that’s not mine...it’s in the workshop...for an underseal 😱😆
The videos run a few weeks behind, so it’s not a car that is currently in the workshop.
@@lightsuplightsdown3018 Only joking....I don’t think mine’s quite at that stage! 😆🙏🙏🙏
How old was this one?
You all don't understand: It's the special lightweight version !!
shocked is a understatement
Definitely looks like a Scottish car, unless it was an early demonstrator and they did arty promo shots of it driving through seawater on the beach!
Not sure really, we are seeing a lot of rust issues on the Mk3
When was the last time this car passed MOT?
It had been off the road for a while, but only about 6 months I think
Definitely need a burnout video of this
Not our car I'm afraid
What year is this MX5
I think it was a 2006
Was this car parked in a swamp?!
The Titanic looks better than that.
100% a Scottish coastal car I've seen plenty rotten like that. All makes and models
that mk3 is a write-off / scrap
This must of lived next to the sea
Jim'll fix it

We agree, the NC is a great car and getting it undersealed before this happens is a great idea!
That has to have been in a flood or it’s sat on a drive near the sea
we don't know much about the history of the car, but we don't believe it has been in a flood.

Wow, that's awful! Luckily, MK3's are plentiful and cheap. Part out and buy another.
We suspect their numbers will dwindle really quickly due to issues like this

It's kind of like when Edd China would release a ball joint with a tap from a pair of hammers! yeah right!!!
What with all the brown showers , flakey undercarriage shots, roys brown hole and the f7sting ..... I’m surprised this channels still family friendly
I was tempted to tittle the video - Roy fingers and fists a Mk3!
